How do I adjust picture size for slider

I have Virtue Premium and want to use a slider, but when i add pictures they are very large in physical size and are cropped excessively by the slider. I have tried this with flex ans also revolution. I have tried reducing height and width in media library but this has no effect. i have already cropped the pictures prior to uploading so they are what i want visitors to see. How can i resize the media pictures to fit the slider without them being cropped by the slider? Thank you!
