How to show products by category on homepage

hi, I have 4 product categories and each category has around 5 products.
I want to show the all products on homepage and grouped by categories.
How can I do that?
I found in “Home Layout” settings, you can pick “product on sale”, “featured products” and “best selling products”.
Question:
1 how do I know which products falls under these 3 preset category?
2 how do I show the products by my own categories?
