Icons in menu (icon class)

Hi everybody, me again!
I have been trying to use the menu option ‘Icon class’. It seems so simple, it says it so in the title of Icon Class. Just add icon-home. Well I’ve tried that and a lot of other things but nothing happens. No icon ever appears. I have also tried to add a css class as shown in a virtue icon menu tutorial (even though I have the Pinnacle theme, I thought I should at least try it), but sadly no such luck.
I have tried to use icons in a menu and submenu, but nothing happens. I have tried it with complete codes, css etc. Somebody please explain me how this works?

I have added icon class to the ‘Follow’ menu and ‘Instagram’ in the submenu.
