Main Menu Active Color

I’m sure this is simple, but I seem to be going in circles.
Main menu has colors set for font and background on active and hover. That combo is ok for hover, but I want to handle active different. Case: on home page, menu is black text on white background; on hover it switches to white text on red background. It currently stays that way for active. But I want active to be red text on white background.
