MAJOR: Create images by theme like retine not deleted when media is deleted

The virtue theme creates a lot of extra images (like retina images) while my clients are browsing my affiliatie webshop (15.000 products). This is great for perfomance en futere screens.
When I go to Media and delete the image for a product, the created images by Virtue stays on the hosting-server in de upload-directory. taking up space AND GROWING.
My conclusion is that the created images aren’t connected as a child imageS to the main (parent) image.
Please correct the problem! I sit every evening cleaning up images for a few hours.
