Menu items styling

Using Ascend theme – for some reason the menu items either go onto two lines or repeat and I am not sure why.
I have altered the font size which makes it a bit better but I’d like the size to be 20px if screen size allows and for the menu to collapse rather than go onto two lines under a certain screen size.
How can I do this?
