Multi Level Image Grid Portfolio and Single Page Site

Hello all! To start, I’m coming from a Muse/Joomla background. Joomla, I consider much more complex than necessary, and Muse I ADORE with the exception of having no options for making a 100% responsive site. My Muse site is live at http://www.democaliber.com. As you can see, I have a grid set up for my imagery and everything else is separated into a different area.

Here is where WordPress and this template come in! (I’m relatively new to WordPress. I’ve only built a couple sites for clients a few years ago…but I have forgotten much!) First things first, I’d like to completely remove the image and content that the template has…my building area is at *Login to see link I want to get it looking as similar to my Muse site as I can. Any pointers on direction would be much appreciated. Also for my portfolio, I don’t need pages for each item…just the lightbox display with caption. Thanks!
