On Sale Products, maximum amount, display latest

Hi there,
We are having an issue with our On Sale Product section in the Theme Options > Home Layout > Home On Sale Product Settings
It is displaying correctly however we have newer items on sale but they are not being displayed. I checked the settings are at the maximum amount of products which is 18 and we are not able to make it any higher. Are we able to show the latest products on sale in the slider? As that would be much more relevant to the customer.
