order of woocommerce product variables

Hello. The only product I’m selling online is gift cards. I added a variable product from woocommerce designating several amounts ($) for the card. When adding the variables, woocommerce lets you drag & drop to change the order, or assign a number that the variables should display. Despite designating these in increasing amounts, $50, $100, $250… they are displaying in numerical order $100, $1000, $250…
Am I missing something? I tried adding a $ before the number in the title of the variable, but that didn’t help.
