Placing text above a Portfolio Carousel Slider

Hi,
I need to add some text (as an introduction) above a Carousel slider on a portfolio page. The slider is set to three rows and currently the text appears below the slider. I’ve tried an answer you gave elsewhere to replace the existing slider i.e.

[custom_carousel]

[carousel_item]
Item 01 – Add your info here
[/carousel_item]

[carousel_item]
Item 02 – Add your info here
[/carousel_item]

[/custom_carousel]

But don’t seem to have had any luck, just see the commands on the page. What should go in the lines where it says “Item 01 …”?
Or am I totally on the wrong track?
