portfolio publishing problem

OK, I was creating a new portfolio item and when I went to publish all of the links on my portfolio page broke and now no longer work. I have reset the settings in theme options and re-saved the permalinks and still nothing. I can change the status of any portfolio item to draft and it looks fine, but when I publish it I get the page not found error. Help!
