Portfolio types are not nested properly

Hi, I tried to use this shortcode [portfolio_types] to add portfolio categories to my homepage. However I noticed that nested categories are not working properly.
Making the category “01” as the parent for “02” and “03”, Will only cause the posts under both “02” and “03” to show under “01”.
So the “children” categories pretty much don’t exist on the front end.
I really need this feature to help organize my content and make it more accessible. Could you help me please? Thank you.
