Product Variants price not updating

Hi,
I am just getting started with creating a site. In the product page: *Login to see link I have added variants, but the price of the same do not get updated automatically. The “clear selection” needs to be pressed before another variant can be chosen. How can I avoid this since this is allowing users to purchase products at a lower price.
