I’v got the feeling, that I should be able to figure this out by myself, but I really would like some recommendations from you experts.

The Settings > Image Sizes > Thumbnail (default 150), Medium (default 300), Large (default 1024).

1) What is the ideal settings? I’d like to server images in optimal quality, without serving too large images that requires downscaling in the browser. Can that even be done?

2) Should I just punch in the same dimensions in WooCommerce settings?

3) What image sizes are recommended, keeping visual appearance and usability in mind, for sliders?
