Remove Pencil Icon When Using Shortcodes

Hello,
Is it possible to remove the pencil icon when using either the kad_blog shortcode or blog_posts shortcode? I don’t want to replace it with another image, I just need to remove it when a featured image isn’t available. And, I still need to be able to have a featured image with the show when one is chosen with the post. Any help you could give would be deeply appreciated.
