Remove Sidebar from blog page

I found the setting “Blog Post Sidebar Default” and set it to “No, Do Not Show”.
Had absolutely no effect, I cant get rid of the sidebar at all. Very frustrating that this doesn’t work on the premium version, having just purchased a membership.
All the stuff that didnt work in the free version seems to not work on the premium version?
Have selected full text for posts, not an excerpt, but still get an excerpt. Does the premium version do anything?
