Removing or reducing the height of the featured image on the portfolio page

Hi
I have a “featured image” on my portfolio records so that I have an image on the home page where they are all listed.
Is there a way of the featured image not appearing on the portfolio page itself? Or a way of reducing the height?
I’ve searched everywhere but can’t find a way of doing it!
