Search Function Not Working

Hello,
We use woocommerce for our checkout and products but when a search is done it shows no results found, on the customer end. I need the customers to search by SKU or product type but none of those work. What does the search in the virtue theme actually work for? And how do I get it to search correctly for our needs? Please advise, thank you!
