Shop Icon Sub-menu question

Greetings:
At the moment I have my shop items funneling “Shop Icon Button”>Product Categories>Then the customer can begin the shopping experience on the product categories page.

However, Is it better to have the consumer click the “shop Icon Button” and experience a drop down sub menus? such as:

“Shop Icon Button”
sub Menu 1 “Sci Fi Night Lights
sub Menu 2 “Luggage Label Night Lights
sub Menu 3 “Alphonse Mucha Night Lights
sub Menu 4 “Classic British Motorcycle Night Lights
Etc, etc…..?
