Slideshow + Header image, shrink to be responsive?

The homepage slideshow and the header image on every page looks nice. But when you view it in mobile it just shows one little section of the left of the image, instead of the image shrinking down to a standard responsive size (showing the full image). Plus it stays at the full height even in mobile so its a bit too big for mobile.

When you reduce the size of the page all it shows is a little portion of the image (good luck guessing which part will show). On the interior page header all you see is the back of the head of the DJ instead of a smaller image reduced for screen size. How can I make both the slideshow and this header shrink down to be responsive? (instead of showing a partial clip of the full image). I do not like the way this template reduces the images to fit for smaller devices.
