Can anyone help me with how I can share a blog post, page, image, etc. on Facebook or Twitter?

I have set up my FB and Twitter pages, I have a Facebook LIKE button on my home page, and I have links to my pages set up in my footer. However, I should like to be able to post a specific blog post or image but, having looked at a number of plugins, I can’t figure out the best way to go about it?

I have tried Jet Pack and, although I can get the buttons active on the page in question, I have no clue how to get it to actually include and information or a photo – all is wants to include is my Homepage address, although I’ve tested it and it does link back to the correct post.

I’m a little reluctant to use Jet Pack, as I think it’s slowing my site down, and I figure there must be a simpler solution.

If anyone has any ideas I’d be very glad to hear them
