Text Colour for Header

I have a header which has black text at the top which changes to white as it scrolls. On the home page that is fine because the header background is hidden until the scroll starts. However, on all pages other than the home page, I do not hide the header background. The result is the black text cant be seen v well until the user scrolls.
How to force the header text to be white all the time apart from on the home page where it should start as black?
