Video Preload on IE

Hi,
the selfhosted videos inserted with the WP (HTML5) block play almost instantly on modern browsers but load forever in IE11. It seems like IE11 first preloads most if not all the video before allowing playback.
Unfortunately one can not specify the preloading amount so this lets the browser decide. I tried all preload settings and IE11 loads a lot before allowing playback, except when i set preload to none – in this case it won’t play at all.
By the way, video size is out of my controll. Format is mp4.
Maybe you have some advice on this?
