    If you wanted to build your own template you can through a child theme.

    I work already in child theme.

    Depending on how you want that image to show would change how it’s done. For example, are you wanting the page title to be on top of the image? Or are you wanting the page title below the image?

    At the moment, I think it’s good as it is now, so I want to have the page title below of the parallax image. And below of Breadcrumbs, as it is now.

    And I think I take your recommendation, not to make the parallax picture related to the featured image. Thank you for that.
    But also in this case, would be nice to have something like a template, to have this parallax feature active on all sites of the same kind and to be able to make changes on the parallax feature centralized.

    You can’t really do that. That isn’t how things work. The closest would be to use an Iframe but that will show everything on the page and it won’t be mobile friendly at all.

    Within WordPress if you want to add a form and have that form process then you need to either use a plugin or add it to a php template inside a child theme. Whoever coded that for you should be able to help you create a child theme and add it as a php template that you can use in the page template options of WordPress. Otherwise an Iframe but that presents a really poor user experience and so I would suggest using a form builder plugin instead.

    Hey,
    The parallax on that link is really choppy.

    Anyway, there isn’t anything built-in for this. You would have to code it if you want a featured image to appear at the top and be parallax.

    I would tell you it’s worth taking the time to convert this to blocks because of social plugins which use the featured image to share with and usually the page title background image isn’t the same image you would want to use for social sharing (especially in size).

    If you wanted to build your own template you can through a child theme. Depending on how you want that image to show would change how it’s done. For example, are you wanting the page title to be on top of the image? Or are you wanting the page title below the image?

    Hey,
    You need to update the parent theme, the child theme won’t show an update, it’s the parent theme that is far behind. If you can send a login I can update that for you.

    Send me a login about the stylesheet, that isn’t something I would have ever added because it’s pointing to something that doesn’t make sense so I can look at your child theme and see what’s going on.

    Your loading issues all have to do with not using the latest version of the theme.

    I need to add the customer survey opt-in code just before the closing tag on the confirmation page.

    That opt-in code is what you would add in replacement for “TRACKING SCRIPT HERE”. Does that make sense? Then the function itself should be in your child theme functions.php file.

    Thank you, I don’t see any update recommendations in my dashboard, which is how I usually update, is this because it is running a child theme? I’m not sure how to update without breaking something?

    Ben I’m not sure how to address what you mentioned? a long time ago you made the child theme for us, to make some necessary changes to the way things appeared. How do I fix that code?

    Here are some screenshots so you can see the issues in the way it loads.
    topbar loading incorrectly
    http://mosaichouse.co/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/Top-menu-loading-incorrectly.png

    I would upload another shot but its not doing it this minute, it was displaying al the product descriptions on the home page and there were large gaps of white due to this and it looked a mess but won’t seem to do it now…

    Thanks so much

    add_action( ‘woocommerce_thankyou’, ‘custom_script_for_thankyou’);
    function custom_script_for_thankyou() {
    echo ‘TRACKING SCRIPT HERE’;
    }

    So would I put the survey opt-in code somewhere in the code above? Or elsewhere, and just have that code above by itself in the child theme php?

    #239897

    I believe you can use the same action in a child theme as this one: https://www.kadencewp.com/knowledge-base/add-conversion-tracking-script-woocommerce-thank-page/

    Let me know.

    Hey,
    Right now you can copy the template and place it in your child theme then edit it. That template is in the plugin under dist/templates/

    In your child theme you would place it in a kadence-blocks folder.

    If you just want to change the bottom text that is filterable.

    I’m also looking to build some options or a customizer for it as well.

    Hello Hannah,

    No, I have not added a caching plugin yet, no Cloudflare either.

    I am also clearing the cache and doing a hard reload in the inspector to clear out any browser cache, different browsers, etc.

    The CSS I added previously is there now, which seems like a caching issue. I since then added a bunch of /* Do you see this Hanna */ comments in the stylesheet, but not seeing them either. Do you see it? If so, maybe it is my cache.

    I do not see it here:
    http://www.justfourfeathers.com/wp-content/themes/ascend_premium_child/style.css
    http://www.justfourfeathers.com/wp-content/themes/ascend_premium_child/style.css?ver=1.0

    If I change the version I see it:
    http://www.justfourfeathers.com/wp-content/themes/ascend_premium_child/style.css?ver=1.01

    The domain is http://www.justfourfeathers.com. I might end up doing the Theme’s Custom CSS box. The child functions file works.

    Please let me know if you see all those comments. That will let me know if it is just me, or not.

    Thanks,
    James

    Hello,

    I am adding to the child stylesheet, but not seeing any changes. I can see the child stylesheet being called in the source, but it leads to a version of the stylesheet and not the updated one. I thought it was cache, but it is not showing up on other browsers that I have not used as well. Any ideas? The non-versioned file is there.

    Thank you,
    James

    Hey Phil,
    Unforutately your workaround is the simplest way to do this. To change the format within the default carousel you would need to add a custom function into a child theme. Let us know if have any questions in setting up a shortcode carousel!

    1. The Kadence slider height will automatically decrease for smaller screens, you can override this but in this scenario it’s just decreasing at a certain width, it’s still not following the size of the image. The image is still background and still gets cut off based on the size of the slider which is determining the content the background is covering. For example here are two quick screenshots:

    Screen-Shot-2019-10-29-at-11-49-53-AM Screen-Shot-2019-10-29-at-11-50-21-AM

    2. Your editing on a smaller screen but you are creating content for huge screens. Even your screenshot in windows shows that your design doesn’t fit in the smaller screen. When on your mac the button is being forced down further because you are out of space from your settings, for example, try hiding your left sidebar so you have more editing space and you’ll see the button not have to overflow.

    3. “Why does your image have no white space after the menu but before the batting cage image? ” – I was partially scrolled down, the sticky header comes down with the scroll.

    You can remove the top white space by adding css:

    body.page #content .entry-content > .wp-block-kadence-rowlayout.alignfull:first-child {
        margin-top: -30px;
    }

    That will detect if your page is being edited with Kadence Blocks and if your first block is a row layout and is fullwidth which is a pretty good tell that you don’t want any top spacing. I may consider even adding it to the theme with more testing.

    But you can also change your page layout setting to full content width which will remove the default top and bottom padding. Or inside the block you can add a negative top margin.

    With pagebuilder there is css already added to detect if pagebuilder is being used and remove the top padding on the content, it’s css that is basically trying to get out of the way of pagebuilder settings.

    I hope that helps!

    If this is for one page you should add as a text layer in your slider. No point adding a child theme custom config for one page.

    Thank you for your quick response.
    Adding your code in the child theme works great! However, switching off the title in my setting does not have any effect. I have the title 2 times now. Setting H5 title to display: none does not resolve my issue with ryte, as the H5 title is still on the page.
    Is there anything else I can do?

    #239506

    Hey,
    I’m seeing the shop page load normally? Can you send a screen shot? I did notice that your child theme is incorrectly loading a stylesheet. I suggest fixing that in your code.

    #239482

    Are there any shortcuts at all?

    You can use a child theme, code in something to overlay a video. Adding multiple videos to a slider is usually not a great option for user accessibility and usability. Perhaps I need to see how you are using this to understand.

    In your settings turn off the title, then in your child theme add this:

    function child_init() {
     add_action( 'kt_rc_item_content', 'custom_rc_post_title', 30 );
    }
    add_action( 'init', 'child_init', 30 );
    function custom_rc_post_title() {
     global $post;
     echo '<a href="' . get_permalink( $post->ID ) . '" class="kt_related_content_title_link">';
     echo '<h4 class="entry-title">'.get_the_title(),'</h4>';
     echo '</a>';
    }

    Ben

    #239244

    You would need to use a child theme, in the functions.php file of the child theme you can add this:

    function child_init() {
    remove_filter( 'get_the_excerpt', 'ascend_custom_excerpt_more' );
    add_filter( 'get_the_excerpt', 'custom_custom_excerpt_more' );
    }
    add_action( 'init', 'child_init' );

    function custom_custom_excerpt_more( $excerpt ) {
    	$excerpt_more = '';
    	if ( has_excerpt() ) {
    		global $ascend;
    		if ( ! empty( $ascend['post_readmore_text'] ) ) {
    			$readmore = $ascend['post_readmore_text'];
    		} else {
    			$readmore = __( 'Read More', 'ascend' );
    		}
    		$excerpt_more = '<a class="kt-excerpt-readmore more-link" href="' . get_permalink() . '" aria-label="' . esc_attr( get_the_title() ) . '">' . $readmore . '</a>';
    	}
    	return $excerpt . $excerpt_more;
    }
