I have been using Ascend Premium for a couple of years and was looking into moving up to Kadence theme and the new (pro) blocks. It’s a bit confusing. I see some things I can’t get at from Kadence Theme (widgets are missing). And if I use SiteOrigin Layout, I can’t get to Kadence blocks.
For example, with Ascend I use the Image Menu Item widget and the Testimonial Carousel widget. However, with Kadence as the active theme, and I insert a “SiteOrigin” layout, there is no Image Menu and no Testimonial Carousel widgets. And I cannot insert any blocks into the SiteOrigin layout. It seems I can only pick widgets and many of them are missing. (I just realized all my testimonials are missing under the Kadence theme too. At least I can’t find them! I have hundreds under the Ascend Premium theme. How do I get them to show up under the Kadence theme?)
If I use the block approach, I can insert Kadence blocks and I see an Image Overlay block, which looks like the “Ascend: Image Menu Item”, but behaves quite a bit differently. For example, I cannot control the height of each image, I can just set minimum image height and, thus on my row of 6 cells they don’t line up in a nice neat row with all images the same height. I can also not set the “gutter” between the images as I would like. I can set it to a “skinny 10px”, but I would like to set it to 2 px as I do on the top and bottom border. Also, if I insert a “row layout” block and insert a single column block inside, and set a “background image”, I can put a top and bottom border, but not a left and right border, so the image runs up to the left and right edge. But if I go back to the SiteOrigin layout and insert a row (single column) and an image, I can put a left, right, top, and bottom border. I’m probably using the term border incorrectly. As I see the terms, gutter, border, padding, and margin throughout and I am not sure what each means, so I play around with them until I get what I want!
I also can’t find out how to change the “background color” for the “image overlay” block. It defaults to orange and I want ti to be blue from my current settings. I looked at the html and see:
class=”kt-image-overlay-color” style=”background-color:#e76106;opacity:0.6″
So I think that is set as HEX e76106, with 60% opacity. But I can’t find on the “customize theme” menus where to change it.
I’m running the Kadence theme under a localhost, so I don’t think I can give you a link to it, unless you know a cool way to do that! I can upload some screen shots, but that won’t show any of the code.
A lot of questions, I know. But I haven’t bothered you for some time!
I don’t have to change to the Kadence Theme, but thought I read somewhere where it might run faster using blocks and may clean up the html code quite a bit. Also not sure how long the old editors and Pagebuilder will be available.

Hello Amber,
Thank you for giving us access to your website.
I’ve found out that you’re using Ascend free theme, the additional settings under Page Title and Subtitle are available on Ascend Premium – http://docs.kadencethemes.com/ascend-premium/page-title-subtitle-settings/.
Hope this explains.

Unfortunately, I don’t believe there’s a way to achieve this when using the classic editor. Are you using any kind of page builder? Such as page builder by siteorigin? If so, you could use the Virtue: Icon flip box widget. It’s not the same effect you’re after, but it may work for you. Let me know!

Hello,
You can set the home page as the blog and then add element hooks to the site to make it look similar to the home page you currently have in place.
Or you can use a hooked element and paste a specific blog post on the front page. This will have to be updated manually if you want the latest post shown on the front page.
Here is the process for making a reusable block for use in the element:

Here is the process for placing the reusable block on the home page.

You may even be able to get away with adding the latest posts block on the home page and just using the first video for setting up the plugin to show a single post.
Last, there are plugins that can do this as well:
https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-show-posts/
https://wordpress.org/plugins/display-posts-shortcode/Let me know if this works for you or is what you were going for.
Thanks!

Hello Øystein,
Thank you for reaching out to us.
I tried replicating the issue on my test website, but my site icon was applied properly – https://share.getcloudapp.com/z8uYRGBv, so there must be an issue on your website. Please make sure that your WordPress and theme are updated to their latest versions. Also, on your customizer page, kindly right click, select Inspect and check the Console tab of the browser to see if there are errors showing. This will give us better idea of the issue.
Hope this helps and let us know if we can assist you further.

Hello Mike,
Thanks for reaching out to us.
Could you confirm which part of the page can we see the links you’re referring to? You can use the CSS code on this article for removing the underline of the links in Ascend theme – https://www.kadencewp.com/knowledge-base/ascend-remove-link-underline/.
Hope this helps and let us know if we can assist you further.

KarlaIn forum: Kadence BlocksNovember 3, 2020 at 8:31 am #259980Hey,
I’m using an element “Fixed Bottom after scroll” and want to show a modal, when someone click on a link of that element. So I added a modal in that element. The problem is, when you click on the modal, the modal is not covering the page. I want to add the modal directly in the element because of the logic behind :).
Some improvement suggestion for the element placement:
Can you please add/ change for fixed elements:
Fixed On Bottom after scroll
and rename the existing one to: Fixed Bottom After Scroll (no space below footer).similar to:
Fixed On Bottom
Fixed Bottom (no space below footer)Would be awesome, because at the moment it is necessary to add a padding to the footer bar,if you use a fixed Bottom after scroll element.
PS: Already made 5 stars review on WordPress repo…
Big thank you in advance!

In forum: Kadence ThemeIn reply to: Woocommerce Product Archive Price Font
November 2, 2020 at 8:01 pm #259965Hi Hannah!
Thanks for your reply! I’m using the newest version of the theme (1.0.0) and wordpress.
So weird… Yes, I can change colors on that page and everything else except the font of the shop prices. Is there anything else that could be overriding that setting?
In case it matters, my woocommerce shop page is not the default loop. I’m using the setting to create a custom page with the “hand picked products” block at the top of the shop page. The product title still changes in the customizer, just not the price.
Thanks,
DariusIn forum: Virtue ThemeIn reply to: limit post categories showing in recent posts
I only want the posts designated with the ‘news and events’ category showing under recent posts (which shows up at the bottom of the page when you click through to read the complete post). Currently, all post categories are populating this area, and I don’t know how to control that.

CarrieIn forum: Kadence ThemeTopic: Fonts not loading
November 2, 2020 at 4:48 pm #259961SO I added a few fonts using Kadence custom fonts. It is one font family with 3 different weights for H1 weight 100, H2 weight 200 H3 weight 300. The issue is when I add a title element from elementor to a page and select H1… the font does not have the weight it’s supposed to have.. See the example.. the above title is Circe 100 (manual font selection) the font below is selecting H1 defaults.. as you can see the font has a large weight.. Any ideas how I can fix this?

Hey,
Have you cleared your cache after editing? It looks like your page is loading pretty slow. Have you optimized your images? See this post: https://www.kadencewp.com/blog/best-practices-for-images-sizes-and-optimization-in-wordpress/Best,

November 2, 2020 at 12:02 pm #259936Hi,
I went to themes > add new. I selected the latest version of ascend premium zip file and I uploaded. When asked I told WordPress that I wanted to replace the current version with my uploaded version.I then went and checked your pages to see if the error was still there. It wasn’t.
I suggest downloading a fresh latest version and uploading to your site, if you are having trouble I suggest sending a login so I can take a look.
I hope that helps,
BEn
