Another quick question please Ben. It’s all working now however each album featured image shown on the gallery page is very small and doesn’t look good. I would like them to show as in the demo (full the available space in the Visual Editor). How can I achieve this please?

    Cheers

    Hey there!

I have a anchor link for my Landing Page in the menu, hence it is grayed out. How can I override this?

    Thank you!

    #190769

As a final update : I have pasted the response from my hosters: no error logs were generated: their view is that a scripting error has occurred and this wont be passed back as an error because it fails before that . I have downloaded and checked the files and there are no errors reported for the 500

I removed many of the widgets on the HP which were duplicates anyway with different content and reset the php memory limits as above, I removed all css and deleted all bespoke widget attributes

Still toggling Pagebuilder plug-in on and off triggered the error 500 even when this was THE only installed plug-in with no handcrafted css or widget attrributes

I then rebuilt a copy of the HP identical to the last and this does allow editing without Error 500: Ihave renabled all my plug-ins and repalced css and widget attributes. Everything works as before. I am rebuilding the content and will keep an eye to any physical limit on widget numbers though intuitively this should not be an issue within reason (and the HP was not overlong to start with)

The only viable conclusion is to rebuild the entire HP and link to the new version .
I have no idea why the current version no longer works and have exhausted all reasonable debugging and root cause analyses. My conclusion is that it is a spurious “interaction” that isnt worth prosecuting any more.

That said I have learned new things and I am sure glad I wasn’t yet live!!!

. I am using the rebuild as an “opportunity” for some content refresh and new look and feel

Thanks for your help but the pragmatic conclusion is that this is not a solvable issue given the alternative of a rebuild seems to be less onerous measured in time and success

    Thank you for your ticket.

Sorry for the trouble here. Sounds like you’ve taken good steps to try and resolve this. Unfortunately it’s very hard for us to advise on scripting problems like this. The error is most likely not showing in the logs as the script is failing before it even reaches that stage, if the developer who created this can’t find the problem then you may need to start again I’m afraid or restore from a backup.

The only other thing to try is to follow WordPress’s de-bugging advice here https://codex.wordpress.org/Debugging_in_WordPress

You can access the site’s error logs from the hosting control panel. To access the hosting control panel click on ‘Manage hosting’ and then ‘sign in’ next to your domain. You’ll then see an option called ‘download logs’ under the ‘Web stats & logs’ section.

However, as above, if there aren’t any errors showing it could be the script is failing before it reaches the logs which is possible with 500 errors. This requires manual checking of scripts unfortunately. Most modern IDEs will highlight scripting problems so it might be worth downloading the files and checking for scripting problems.

    Kind regards

    Hope this helps.

    Hi Ari,
You can do this using page builder. Create a row and set the row layout to full width stretched. Then you can add your portfolio shortcode to a visual editor or text widget in the row. You could also do this with some css. If you post a link I would be happy to help with that.

Ah that’s something I didn’t know Ben and will definitely remember in the future 😁. Thanks for your help and I see you’re still editing the page but it is at least working now.
    Appreciate you help Ben

ok, when using pagebuilder you must add a description into yoast SEO settings. Else yaost will try and pull one from your content. When your content only consists of shortcodes that breaks the page output.

I’m being told that password is not correct. Can you please test?

can you change the permalink of your gallery page to something other than gallery? Even just temporarily?

Please try adding the shortcode into the page not using pagebuilder.

Can you send me a temp login so I can see whats happening.

    #190714

You really need to increase the max post size. 8mb is too small.

    Your max memory is fine.

Again any decent host would help you edit php settings but you have to do this from the server not from the php into page.

The page called “home” has 78 widgets. I would guess that makes it over 8mb in size. So I can only guess that is your issue.

No, guesswork would be required if you can look at your php error logs.

Hey Ben, thanks for getting back to me. I’ve pasted the code above and changed the name of the slug to my slug but I’m not seeing anything on the page. I’ve pasted the shortcode into a Visual Editor within a row. Any ideas please?

    Many thanks
    Chris

    Hey,
Can you tell me what is in your php error logs? 500 error should report something.

Also can you tell me what version of php you are using and what your php settings are like max memory, max execution time and max upload?

I can’t recreate any issue while testing on the demos or on other sites and using pagebuilder on the front page.

If you can send a temp login I would be happy to take a look. Best to know what error is in the error logs first.

this error has occurred since Friday : I have deactivated every plugin and I can edit the HP

: when I re-enable Pagebuilder the error returns. I have pretty much always used Pagebuilder and want to conitnue to do so

When I change theme, the problem goes away: I can even edit the HP with Pagebuilder with Virtue (non Premium) : this suggest it is not a problem on the server side , nor is it a problem with other plugins (as theya re all disabbled) it is now a problem specifically between Virtue Premium and Pagebuilder

I deactivated and deleted Virtue Premium

I then reinstalled a fresh downloaded zip of Virtue Premium. I activated all of the recommended plugins

    the problems is still occurring

I deactivated all of the rcommended plugins so only Pagebuilder in use

    Problem still occuring

    I deactivate Pagebuilder

    the problem goes away

Therefore this is a specific Pagebuilder-Virtue Premium interaction

    Various
I have checked PHP setting server side
    I have resaved Permalinks

Can you suggest anything else before I junk Virtue and rework my whole site with a new Theme? My web service is not yet live and due to go live next month, need this hassle like a hole int he head right now

    Thanks

Hi Guys, I am using the Pinnacle theme on my site and have installed the Kadence Gallery Plugin. I have created 3 albums and 3 galleries associated with these albums (with images in each gallery). On your page for the gallery plugin it shows a demo of using albums in a grid (I’m assuming the featured image of each gallery is used as the image for the album) to show each gallery ( I cannot for the life of me figure out how to do this as there are no widgets that I can paste the shortcode in for the album.
Can you point me to any documentation that’ll explain this to me or can you tell me how. I do apologise if I’m being thick 😀

    Hey,
So for a splash page, I suggest using a splash page plugin, since it’s really not good for internal navigation if your logo and “home” url is a splash page all the time instead of on the first visit.

    Hi Dorcas,
There isn’t an option to use a page template on the front page as it will automatically get overridden by the homepage template. You can use this css to remove the header and footer from the homepage:

    .home .headerclass, .home #containerfooter {
        display: none;
    }

    Hope that helps!
