Here is a recording that shows my setup: https://share.zight.com/v1ukD2yp
The idea is to populate everything in the post by using the ACF fields. The site editors are all volunteers with very little technical background. The block editor is intimidating to them.
With more poking around, I realize I can copy the Teaser Text into the content area or create a custom excerpt by clicking “Add an excerpt” and it will show up in the Post Grid. But it’s one more step. I am able to set the Featured Image using a custom field with the Name set to _thumbnail_id. Is there any way to create a custom excerpt using a custom field?
In forum: Kadence BlocksAugust 5, 2025 at 4:30 am #294556Hi @llepere
Welcome to Kadence Support.
I tried to replicate the issue by creating a Kadence Hooked Element for single posts, and the Post Grid/Carousel displays just fine.
Check the screencast here: https://share.zight.com/NQuXDEqlThe Post Grid Carousel displays the content exactly as it is added inside your posts. Could you please share how the content is structured in your posts (e.g. blocks used, excerpts, custom fields, etc.)? That will help us better understand the issue.
Can you share the screen recording of the whole process? You can use apps like Zight or Loom to record your screen or capture screenshots of the issue and easily share the links with us.
Looking forward to your reply.
Regards,
ArchitaIn forum: Kadence BlocksI have a Kadence Template element that’s replacing single post content for a specific category of posts. The text in the templated posts is added via a Dynamic HTML block using a WYSIWYG ACF field. When I show the posts in a Post/Grid Carousel there is no excerpt shown. There are other posts from different categories in the same Post/Grid Carousel and for those an excerpt generated from the post content is shown (they don’t have a custom excerpt). Am I doing something wrong? Or when using a template element does the WordPress fallback of using the post content as the excerpt not work? (I did try adding some static text to the template and that was not shown in the Post/Grid Carousel either.)
If I add a custom excerpt to the templated post it is displayed in the carousel. Is there a way to set a custom excerpt using an ACF field?

AnonymousJuly 23, 2025 at 10:33 am #294394Hi Adam,
We’d like to provide you guidance on this.
Currently, there is no built-in option to do this.
If you are using a Post Grid/Carousel block, then we have an existing feature request for this. If you could please take a moment to vote and comment on the feature request, that will help the development team better understand the importance of adding this: https://feedback.kadencewp.com/p/add-option-to-have-different-style-for-sticky-posts-in-post-grid-carousel-block
Please note that we cannot give an ETA of when this will be added.
We appreciate your continued patience and understanding regarding this matter.
Kind Regards,
Michael TaroIn forum: Kadence ThemeHi Krystal,
Thanks for the update.
Try adding this Code Snippet instead:
add_filter('get_the_categories', function($categories, $post_id) { return array($categories[0]); }, 20, 2);This should display only the primary category in the post grid/carousel block.
Let me know if that works for you.

I’m following this guide – *Login to see link to display the value of a date custom field.
It’s all working fine except the actual date is returned in the wrong format.
In ACF the date field set as:
Display Format
The format displayed when editing a post
July 5, 2025
F j, YReturn Format
The format returned via template functions
July 5, 2025
F j, YThis is the format that is being returned: 20250705
Do I need to add something else to snippet to force the return date to be in the format F j, Y as set in ACF?
add_action(‘kadence_blocks_post_loop_start’, function($attributes){
if ( isset($attributes[‘className’]) && strpos($attributes[‘className’], ‘special-carousel’) !== false ) :

endif;
}, 20);Thank you!

May 1, 2025 at 10:04 pm #293691Hi morningsidekick,
I tested this on my end and was not able to replicate the issue. By default, the Title and Excerpt do not overlap or cut each other off.
Here is a screen recording for reference: https://share.zight.com/4guv210l
Additionally, the Post Grid/Carousel block includes Typography settings for adjusting the line height of both the Title and the Excerpt. You can find these options in the block’s advanced settings.
Here is another screen recording for reference: https://share.zight.com/o0ul6Eyy
Could you please share the link to the page where the issue appears? This will help us check what might be causing the overlap and determine whether any custom CSS is needed to fix it.
Please let us know; we’ll be happy to help.

I just wanted to let you know that Kadence Blocks v3.5.6 was released today. According to the changelog, the comma separated CC issue should be fixed.
Changelog:
Release Date: May 1st 2025 Update: Connect custom post category colors with relevant blocks (posts, post grid) Enhancement: Improved design library navigation, filtering, and sorting. Fix: Comma separated CC field not sending to multiple users. Fix: Transparent Logo Reverts to Default Logo After Scrolling Back Up with Sticky Header Enabled. Fix: Text alignment on frontend in table block.In forum: Kadence BlocksApril 26, 2025 at 10:46 pm #293652Hi.
Using Post/Grid Carousel to list most recent posts by category. Would love to tighten up the spacing between the post title and the post excerpt, but don’t see a setting and adjusting the line height of the excerpt cuts off the bottom of the excerpt text. Tried giving the P/G C block additional CSS:
/* Target with custom class */
.my-custom-carousel .entry-title {
margin-bottom: -5 !important;
}.my-custom-carousel [class*=”meta”] {
margin-top: -5 !important;
padding-top: -5 !important;
}
but this didn’t work.Would appreciate any guidance.
In forum: Membership ForumsIn reply to: How to open read more in as new tab?
April 8, 2025 at 8:55 am #293508Hey Thomas,
Thanks for writing in!
You can create a hooked element to add a custom Read More button using the Kadence Text (Adv) which has the option to open the link in a new tab. Here’s an example: https://share.zight.com/v1uzA2nx
In the hooked element Display Settings, target the page where you have the Post Grid/Carousel. For more info, visit our documentation:
https://www.kadencewp.com/help-center/docs/kadence-blocks/how-to-design-a-post-grid-carousel-using-a-kadence-element/Another option is to use this custom script: https://pastebin.com/3PSuY3kf
If you have the Kadence Theme Kit Pro plugin, you can utilize the Header/Footer Script.
Add the code in Customizer > Custom Scripts > Footer.
If you don’t have the plugin, you can use a third-party plugin that can insert footer scripts to your website.
Please let us know how we can assist further.

AnonymousMarch 13, 2025 at 10:08 am #293289Hi there,
We’d like to help you on this.
Currently, the limit for related posts is 6. There is no built-in option to go beyond that.
We can try an alternative though.
A workaround you can do is by the use of a Hooked Element. See this recording for reference: https://www.loom.com/share/42e794597b664b619f678fd56fea0f72
You can also follow these steps to create something similar to Related Posts:
1. Element’s Placement Settings, select After Content.
2. Element’s Display Settings, select Single Post.
3. Then, add the Post Grid/Carousel block.
4. On its settings, enable “Show Unique”.
5. Select the correct post type as well, and categorize them by a specific taxonomy.Also, we might have an existing feature request related to this, but I don’t have a firm timeline on when or if that might be developed.
Feature requests go straight into a strategy board where they will be reviewed by the Development team. We take certain factors into account when deciding which features to build and which to remain pending.
Here’s the link to the feature request so you can comment on additional information, that will help the development team better understand the importance of adding this feature: https://feedback.kadencewp.com/p/related-posts-carousel-allow-more-items
We appreciate your continued patience and understanding regarding this matter.

Michael TaroIn forum: Kadence BlocksJanuary 24, 2025 at 12:04 pm #292751Hi there,
I am creating a page on my blog that’s supposed to mirror what my Instagram profile looks like (I don’t want to embed my Insta, I am uploading all my old photos so I can host it myself). When each post is just one photo, the Advanced Gallery block works great. However, when one of the posts is supposed to be a carousel of multiple photos, the little dots underneath are creating extra space which makes the whole grid look uneven. I know I can click “none” to remove the dots entirely, but then people can’t really tell that one of the posts is a carousel. The arrows on the right and left are too faint and unnoticeable.
Is there some way to have the two dots be on top of the photos instead of underneath? Or if I just remove the dots entirely, is there some other way to make it more obvious that it’s a carousel and not just one photo? Like on Instagram how they usually put the white layered squares symbol in the upper righthand corner.
I’ve attached two screenshots, one shows how I want the grid to look – the margins/padding is all even. The other shows how uneven it looks when the dots are there, and how the arrows are barely even visible (I did try white on dark, dark on light, outline, etc – the arrows are not ever much more visible than what you can see in the screenshot).
Thanks,
ClaireIn forum: Kadence BlocksJanuary 23, 2025 at 4:06 pm #292738Is there a way to change the text that appears when no posts are present when using the Post Grid/Carousel block? Right now it simply shows a paragraph that reads “No posts”. Is there a way to change this somehow?
In forum: Kadence ThemeHi, everyone!
The instructions above are incorrect. The Search Results page is an archive page and this will show the posts in a grid layout if you’re using the Kadence Theme.
The layout options for customization can be found in Appearance > Customize > Search Results. Watch this screencast: https://share.zight.com/E0uNryAY

Welcome to Kadence Support. We are here to help.
There isn’t a built-in way to do this. However, you can use some Custom CSS to do so. You can add Custom CSS in the Customizer -> Additional CSS.
Custom CSS Code:
.kt-post-grid-wrap .kt-blocks-post-grid-item .entry-title a:hover { text-decoration: underline; }Here is a clip of this CSS for reference.
I hope this helps. Please let me know if this works for you or if we can further assist.

I want the title (link) to be underlined on hover. I can’t find any way to do this. Under Title Settings > Hover, there is no option available for underline.
Can you please let me know how to do this? Thanks!

In forum: Kadence BlocksIn reply to: Post Grid/Carousel Dots and accessibility
December 29, 2024 at 7:34 pm #292405Hi Peter,
I understand that you would like the dots in the carousel to function in such a way that users can tab through each of the dots and then press Enter when a specific dot is selected, which would move the slide to that particular item.
For reference, here’s a screen recording demonstrating this behavior: https://share.zight.com/NQunZyvN.
Currently, the behavior is that when the user presses the Tab key, it only selects the dot of the currently active slide. Pressing Tab again moves the highlight to the next focusable element with a tabindex.
For a demonstration of this current functionality, here’s a screen recording: https://share.zight.com/ApuorZON.
Additionally, users can navigate the dots using the left and right arrow keys on the keyboard, which allows for slide navigation.
Here’s a recording showing this functionality: https://share.zight.com/OAudrkLY.
This feature enables users to interact with the carousel in a familiar and consistent way without having to rely solely on the dot navigation. However, while arrow keys are convenient for navigating between elements within certain interfaces (e.g., menus or sliders), I understand that they are not universally supported across all web applications. For instance, some menus may not support arrow key navigation and might instead require users to rely on the Tab key to move between elements.
The Post Grid/Carousel block in use employs Splide for its carousel functionality. After reviewing this, it appears that the current design decision is intentional. More information on Splide’s accessibility features can be found here: https://splidejs.com/guides/accessibility/.
Here’s a screenshot of Splide’s accessibility guide for reference: https://splidejs.com/guides/accessibility
I hope this helps. Feel free to reach out if you have more question about this topic.
Best regards,
Teejay. -
