    Hi Sophie,

    I’m glad you reached out. I’d be happy to help.

    You can adjust the excerpt limit and design from Post Grid/Carousel block settings. Check the screenshot here: https://share.zight.com/P8uPzX24

    If you want to custom the text, you should manually enter the content in the Excerpt field available in the post editor. You’ll usually find this field in the sidebar of the editor, or you may need to enable it under Screen Options (or the Preferences menu in the block editor) if it’s not visible. Check the screenshot for reference: https://share.zight.com/wbupdL48

    I hope this helps. Let me know if we can assist you further.

    Best Regards,
    Archita

    Is there any way to customize the excerpt text using Post Grid/Carousel Block. Or a way to add my own text?

    I’ve enabled the lightbox and it’s working correctly for me with Image (Adv) block. However, I’m getting some unexpected results when I try to use it with the Gallery (Adv) block.

    If I choose the Masonry or Grid gallery types, the lightbox works as expected. But with the other free options, clicking on a gallery image opens the image full-size in the browser window with no lightbox UI. Is this how it’s supposed to work? I would have thought it would open with the usual lightbox UI controls. Do the Carousel, Fluid Carousel, and Slider options not support the lightbox?

    Also related to the lightbox, is it possible to open the featured image on a post or page in the lightbox and optionally display a caption?

    Thanks.

    Hi there!

    Glad you reached out to us about this.

    The short answer is no; there is no built-in options or way to add a button to the grid. On the other hand, there is a block from the Kadence Blocks Pro that could list custom post types like Portfolio and lets you set the loop template.

    Here’s a link to the block tutorial: https://www.kadencewp.com/help-center/docs/kadence-blocks/advanced-query-loop-block/

    I believe this could help you quickly in achieving the layout that you need.

    Let me know if you have any other concerns.

    Hi, @hasni01ahmed
    Your link here is inappropriate and misleading! It has nothing to do with News Magazine Pre-Designed Templates.
    For inspiration, consider some oriented News Magazine WordPress themes that include features such as:
    a scrolling News Ticker, a post grid, home page sidebars with a sticky option, and site-wide ad placement compatibility,…etc

    #295806

    Apologies for the delay in getting back to you here.

    You’re right, there isn’t an option, but you can add this to your Custom CSS Box in Theme Options > Advanced Settings:

    @media (min-width: 992px) {
        #kad-blog-grid .tcol-md-3 {
            width: 20% ;
        }
    }

    This should show the posts in 5 columns for wider screens.

    Hi lisaleduc10,

    I’m glad you reached out, I’d be happy to help.

    I see you are using the Kadence Posts block. This block doesn’t have a setting for changing the background color of the items in the loop.

    It relies mostly on the global settings.

    You can try adding this custom CSS in Appearance > Customize > Additional CSS:

    .wp-block-kadence-posts li.kb-post-list-item {
        background-color: white;
    }

    If you have the Kadence Blocks Pro, you can also look into the Post Grid/Carousel block. This block has more settings like the content background and header background. See Video: https://share.zight.com/Apu2Y21g

    Let us know how it works out, and we’re happy to offer further help.

    Best regards,
    Teejay.

    Hi thomastwinklearm,

    I am glad you reached out, I would be happy to help.

    It looks like you want to add filter buttons so visitors can sort or filter the posts on the page. The page is currently using the Kadence Posts block, and that block does not include filtering options.

    Filtering is available with the Kadence Blocks Pro Post Grid or Carousel block, which includes category filters, tag filters, and additional layout controls.

    Screen recording:
    https://share.zight.com/yAumll4E

    Feature documentation:
    https://www.kadencewp.com/help-center/docs/kadence-blocks/kadence-blocks-post-grid-carousel-block

    As mentioned in your other topic, the page is built using WordPress blocks in the Gutenberg Editor. WordPress includes:

    • Core blocks like Paragraph, Heading, Image, Gallery, Button, and List
    • Kadence Blocks, which add advanced options like Row Layout, Advanced Button, Tabs, Accordion, Forms, and Post Grid or Carousel
    • Extra third party blocks from any other plugins you have installed

    You can mix and match these blocks to build your layout. The features you can use depend on which blocks and plugins are active on your website.

    Since the standard Kadence Posts block does not support filtering, you will need to replace it with the Kadence Blocks Pro Post Grid or Carousel block if you want built in filtering.

    I hope this helps. Feel free to reach out for more help.

    Best regards,
    Teejay.

    Hi John,

    Thanks for explaining your setup, it helps a lot. Since your distributor handles all order processing on their own platform, you do not need to install WooCommerce on your site. Kadence can still give you a product style layout without adding any ecommerce system.

    The simplest approach is to create a custom post type for your products and then design your product pages with Kadence blocks. You can include the product title, images, description, features, and then add a button that sends users directly to your distributor’s checkout page.

    From there, you can use the Kadence Query Loop to build a clean product grid that looks similar to WooCommerce or Shopify listings, but without the cart and checkout functionality. This keeps your site lightweight while still giving you a polished catalog.

    Check the documentation for reference:

    I hope this helps. Let me know if we can assist you further.

    Hi,

    Thanks for clarifying and sorry for the confusion. You’re right—the Adv Query Loop block doesn’t support a carousel.

    To create one, use the Kadence Post Grid/Carousel block:

    Edit your page/post and add the block.

    Enable the Carousel toggle in the block settings.

    Customize columns, autoplay, navigation, post filters, and styling as needed.

    Hi there,

    We’d like to provide you guidance on this.

    You can display colorful text labels from categories on your service images using the Kadence Theme’s Post Item Category Element. Here’s how you can do it:

    Step 1: Set Specific Category Colors

    – Go to your WordPress Dashboard.
    – Navigate to Posts > Categories.
    – Edit each category and set an individual Category Color. This color will be used for the category label displayed on your service images.

    Step 2: Display Category Labels on Service Images

    – In your Archive Layout Settings, use the Post Item Category Element to show category labels on your service images. The labels will use the colors you set for each category.
    – For more details, see the Archive Layout Customizer Settings documentation: https://www.kadencewp.com/help-center/docs/kadence-theme/archive-layout-settings/

    Step 3: Create a Page Showing All Services at Each Centre

    – You can create a custom page and use the Kadence Blocks Post Grid/Carousel Block (available in Kadence Blocks Pro) to display all services (posts or custom post types) filtered by centre (which could be a category, tag, or custom taxonomy). This allows you to visually list all services available at each centre.

    Let us know how we could help you further.

    Hi there,

    Thanks for the clarification. Apologies for the confusion.

    You are correct, the Adv Query Loop block does not have a layout option for a carousel.

    You can create a carousel using the Post Grid/Carousel block in Kadence. Here’s how to do it step-by-step:

    – Edit Your Page or Post: Open the page or post where you want to add the carousel.
    – Add the Post Grid/Carousel Block
    – Enable Carousel Layout: In the block settings sidebar, find the “Enable Carousel” toggle and switch it on. This will turn your post grid into a sliding carousel.
    – Customize Your Carousel: Adjust the number of columns (slides visible at once). Set autoplay, navigation arrows, and dots as needed. Filter which posts to display (by category, tag, or custom post type). Style the carousel using the design options in the sidebar.

    For more details, check out the Post Grid/Carousel Block documentation: https://www.kadencewp.com/help-center/docs/kadence-blocks/kadence-blocks-post-grid-carousel-block/

    #295243

    Adding a Post Category Filter is a great way to improve user experience on archive pages, especially for blogs with a high volume of content! Since this thread is older, the built-in Kadence features might have evolved since 2020. Are you looking for a frontend AJAX filter that dynamically updates the Post Grid, or just a simple dropdown menu filter? Using the Kadence Blocks Post Grid block with a filter setting might be the easiest modern solution.

    Hi there,

    We’d like to provide you guidance on this.

    You can increase the number of posts displayed on your homepage blog grid in the Kadence theme by adjusting the settings in the WordPress Customizer. Here’s how you can do it:

    – Go to your WordPress dashboard.
    – Navigate to Appearance > Customizer.
    – Click on Posts/Pages Layout.
    – Select the Archive or Blog section (depending on your setup).
    – Look for the setting that controls the number of posts displayed (often labeled as “Blog Posts Per Page” or similar).
    – Change the value from 10 to 12.
    – Publish your changes.

    This will update the number of posts shown in your blog grid on the homepage.

    Let us know how we could help you further.

    Kind Regards,

    In reply to: Staff pages?

    #295212

    For creating custom staff pages, I highly recommend using the Kadence Post Grid Block with a custom post type for ‘Staff.’ That gives you much more control and flexibility than relying solely on the standard pages. Make sure to use the Kadence Cloud feature to save your favorite staff-card layout—it’s a huge time-saver when adding new team members later on! Best of luck with the build.

    Hi Gabs,

    I’m glad you reached out. I’d be happy to help.

    Yes, you can set your archive to display in 5 columns using custom CSS. You can add something like this to Customizer > Additional CSS: https://www.kadencewp.com/help-center/docs/kadence-theme/how-do-i-add-custom-css/

    .blog .kadence-posts-list{
      grid-template-columns: repeat(5, minmax(0, 1fr));
    }

    Thanks for reaching out. To give you the exact CSS you’ll need, could you please share your website URL with me? You can send it as a private reply so it stays visible only to our team.

    I hope this helps. Let us know if we can assist you further.

    Hi Favre,

    You can achieve this using Kadence Blocks Pro.

    With Pro, you will have access to both the Kadence Post Grid/Carousel block and the Advanced Query Loop block, which include advanced display and filter options.

    Here are the guides to help you set this up:

    Post Grid/Carousel Block Display Filter Settings: https://www.kadencewp.com/help-center/docs/kadence-blocks/kadence-blocks-post-grid-carousel-block/#display-filter-settings

    Advanced Query Loop Block Filter Options: https://www.kadencewp.com/help-center/docs/kadence-blocks/advanced-query-loop-block/#-filter-blocks

    Both blocks allow you to filter and display posts dynamically, giving you greater control over how your content is organized and presented.

    Here’s a quick example on how you can do this with the Post Grid/Carousel block: https://share.zight.com/DOuY2DZR

    I hope this helps.

    Best regards,
    Teejay.

    #294672

    I’m having the same problem. My site is a gaming site (something like Stardew Valley) built with the Kadence theme, and the “Post Grid/Carousel” block isn’t displaying properly there either. Any ideas on how to fix it?

    #294608

    I figured out a simple way to get what I wanted. We can just insert the Teaser Text as the only post content. And then in the Kadence Template Element set the Dynamic HTML block Source to Current Post and the HTML Content to Post Content. The automatic excerpt is used in the Post Grid which works just fine.

    Screenshot-2025-08-08-111127

    I got too focused on using the Post Custom Fields for the dynamic content since that’s what the tutorials I saw used. Plus with using the “Replace Single Post Content” setting for Placement of the Template Element, I never thought of using Post Content as a Source. It was “The Post Grid Carousel displays the content exactly as it is added inside your posts.” from @architabasandrai that got me to think along different lines… eventually. Thanks so much.

    #294590

    Hi there,

    Thanks for the update.

    If you want more control over what shows in the Post Grid or Carousel block, I suggest creating your own design using Kadence Elements.

    You can check out the guide here:: https://www.kadencewp.com/help-center/docs/kadence-theme/how-to-design-a-post-grid-carousel-using-a-kadence-element/

    Hope this helps.
