    Hey,
With pinnacle the posts are set up to show the ratio of the image based on whatever ratio you upload. If you want to force a crop go to theme options > blog options and turn on “Hard Crop excerpt images to the same height.”

Thanks, Hannah. What I’m looking for is to have the formatting in the blog text–as it appears on the blog post page (http://www.starrigger.net/2016/01/30/the-ponce-chronicles-part-2/) –to be present in the blog summary excerpt as it appears on my home page (http://www.starrigger.net/) and as it appears on the main blog page (http://www.starrigger.net/blog/). Right now, italics, paragraphs breaks, and links are all stripped out of the summaries. At least when I view them in Chrome and in Firefox.

I don’t particularly want the full blog post to appear on my home page, but someone on another board (I believe from Kadence) indicated that the only way to keep formatting from being stripped out in the summaries was to set posts to show full content, and then manually enter “read more” tags.

The rest of your comments I don’t quite follow. I did not configure this site myself, and it’s possible the web designer did not use the Blog Template for the blog page. I don’t know how I could tell. In any case, I’m not seeing the options that you mention.

Your last comment about using shortcode is intriguing. I wonder if I could use that to order posts by date, earliest first, when they are displayed by category. (For example, I would like to be able to create a link to this particular series of posts, and allow someone to read them all in order, with first appearing at the top.) But that’s a separate issue from the formatting thing.

    Hey,
no it’s not the same for the home page. On your home page you add portfolio posts using the theme options > home layout. By enabling the “portfolio full” module.

In terms of demo 2 are you needing help with the header style? Can you post a link?

They would show at the bottom if you had any sticky posts. Just make sure you take it off all of your posts.

    #78900

    Hey,
You can’t make the sidebar the same height as the content unless you used custom javascript to set a fixed pixel size. Or you change the css to an absolute position which isn’t good for responsive sites.

If your just wanting to add a border you can do it on the side of the content that way it will stretch the height of the content regardless of the sidebar.

If you post a link I can help.

It looks like you’ve made all your posts “sticky”

That is not how sticky posts work.. you shouldn’t ever have all marked as sticky. Sticky is designed to allow you to make 1 or 2 older posts stick to the top of your blog page. Meaning even through they are not the latest they would show at the top of your blog page.. The latest posts in your theme options > home layout. Is designed to only be “latest posts” and ignore older sticky posts that might be on your blog. By making every post sticky you are effectively not using it for it’s purpose on the blog page and it makes it so no posts would show in the “latest posts”.

That’s interesting, before when I wasn’t doing the sticky thing.. my posts wouldn’t show up on the top, they would be somewhere at the bottom. I’ll try it to see if it improves it.

    Thank you, Ben & Hanna.

Could I, instead, limit the slider to 3 options and have them act as links to category pages?

For example, it would essentially act as a photo navbar, with three options – Lots, Homes, Contact and instead of linking to the post it links to a page, and it limits the slider to 3 so that you don’t have it auto scrolling through the latest posts

Can you post a link to your site?
    Ben

    #78884

    Raphael,

Please note that we prefer you create your own topics rather then posting in others.

IN terms of this topic you are much better off to just upload through wordpress and getting your host to increase the max upload if that is an issue.

If you are set on ftp then you need to login to your server, navigate to the wp-content/themes folder and drag the downloaded theme file into that folder. Once it’s all uploaded you can go into your site and activate.

Just note that many servers are slow with ftp and inconsistent so you will want to verify that each file was truly uploaded.

Greta, Can you post a url for that login?

Raphael, In products > categories. For each category have you assigned an image?

Can you post a link, this could in part have to do with what widget is in your sidebar.

    Hey,
You have marked almost every single post as “sticky”? Thats now how sticky works… Sticky is a way to feature maybe one or two posts at the top of your blog page. But “latest” posts specifically ignores sticky because sticky should only have to do with older posts that you want to feature at the top of your blog page. Not recent posts that are already at the top of your blog page.

so all you need to do is unmark all your posts as being sticky.

This might be something that can be accomplished with some custom CSS. Would you be willing to post a link to your site so that I can take a look at it?

    Thanks!

    #78839

    Hey,
    1. Thats not how pagebuilder works. You can clone based on a setup but you can’t have a specific template based on post types that automatically gets set up with each new post.

    2. Bootstrap 3. And it doesn’t use the whole framework just part. And it’s been edited for use in this theme. If your trying to develop with it then it’s best to load the framework as the way we customized it you can still load it yourself if there are elements you are wanting to use.

    Hey,
Yes virtue uses wp_nav_menu and the theme location. Other people are using ubermenu. Can you post a link to whats happening for you?

    #78837

Hmm so no link… I assume you have a testimonial page set up?

Without a link I don’t know which version of the theme your using so I’ll assume your using the latest. 3.4.5

Once you create a testimonial page using the testimonial page template you can save and reload that page. That will allow you to see the testimonial page options. (right under the main content box).

In those options you should see potions like “Limit Testimonial Text”. It’s a checkbox. If thats unchecked then your whole testimonial post would show not cutting at all into the content of the post.
Below that is “Add link to single post” which is also a checkbox option. If it’s unchecked then you won’t have a read more link.

Is that what your looking for?

Maybe your not using the latest version of the theme here are steps to update: https://www.kadencewp.com/manually-updating-a-theme/

    Hey,
So the grid widget is only designed for sidebars or footers. It’s set up to output small thumbnails.

You can use a shortcode if you would like to add portfolio posts in a page. For example: [portfolio_posts columns="5" items="10"]

    Hi Jeffrey,
What kind of formatting are you wanting? The links seem to be working fine and I don’t see any issues with the formatting. You can set default settings in Theme Options > Blog Options.
For your blog page make sure you are using the Blog page template and set “Display Post Content as” to “Full” under Blog List Options.
If you want full posts on the homepage you can set your homepage as a latest post page from Settings > Reading then in Theme Options > Home Layout enable Page Content in the homepage layout manager and then scroll down to Page Content Options and set the Latest Posts Display to Full.
Another option is to use a shortcode like this: [kad_blog orderby=date items=4 fullpost=true] You could just paste that into a text widget (Appearance > Widgets) within your home widget area.
Hope one of those works for you!

    Hannah
