Hey, Let me see if I can try and clear this up.

1. You can’t use the wordpress standard category widget in your footer if you want them to show different things. So first step remove those.

2. Now as I explained you need to make two separate parent categories, All other categories should be children of those two parents.

3. You should not have set any page to the the posts page in your settings > reading. Leave that blank. You just need to use the wordpress category pages already built for you.

4. In your appearance > menus page. Make two new menus, in one add categories from on parent and in the other add the categories from the other parent.

5. In your footer use the custom footer menu and assign one of your two new menus to each.

6. You can set the comments how you want in your wordpress settings. If you want to force login that is your option. It’s all there in the wordpress settings. And you can control there if you would like comments to await for approval or not.

I strongly suggest checking out some wordpress tutorials. None of the above questions are theme specific so it could be really helpful for you to get a broader overview of how wordpress works.

How are you ordering your portfolio page?
the arrows are set to go based on menu order which refers to the order number you set in each post attributes.

Hey,
1. Because the content class sits above it. If you want the background to be right behind your text content either use the content class background options or make theme transparent.

2. We use 2000×500 for the slider. Just use good compression to keep the images small.

3. https://select2.github.io/ – select2 is a jquery replacement for select boxes. Since browser don’t allow you to style select boxes this script hides the select box and rebuilds one that is powered by jquery and using html that is editable.

4. Call to action typically refers to a text line that tells to viewer to do some action like click a button that links to something. An example can be found here: http://themes.kadencethemes.com/virtue-premium/ – (look near the bottom at “Want to see more?”)
Breadcrumbs are the links next to your page title that display where you are in a site. Look here: http://themes.kadencethemes.com/virtue-premium/product/racer-t-shirt/

Using the Kadence slider – uploading images 2000 x 400 and setting the kadence plugin ‘max width’ & ‘max height’ to the same size. The result is a huge image zoom-in inside the correct size frame. Really scratching my head trying to figure out what I’m not setting correctly to eliminate the image zoom-in. I’ve tried using both the short code in a post as well as the theme Home Slider options for max slider size without any luck.

Thx for any suggestions!

Thanks Hannnah – the excerpt is not showing up – but now the post title doesn’t show up either. Could you adjust the CSS code so that only the post title displays under the image please?

Hey Susan,
Try adding this to your custom css box in Theme Options > Advanced Settings:

.home #kad-blog-grid .blog_item .postcontent {
    display: none;
}

hello
excuse me but since i updated to wp 4.4 i can’t edit my old posts
the screen changes to white, no message of error, just white-grey screen
i have contacted with my hosting service support team and they did not find an error, so they recommend me to ask you if we need to update the Virtue Premium or not, just to rule out possible causes

I am using the virtue theme and have ran out of things to try to correct the errors that are showing up in Google webmaster tools and in the Google Structure data testing tool.

In Blog Posting I get 8 errors

1.The attribute itemtype has an invalid value. This is for the featured image on a blog post. Im using the Head Content picture here.
2.publisher: missing and required
3.dateModified: missing and recommended
4.mainEntityOfPage: missing and recommended

For some reason its also counting these 4 errors twice. I have this on every site I use the Virtue Theme Premium version on.

Any help at all with this would be great.
I’m willing to provide anything needed to be of better help. The above errors are from the structured data testing tool.

Is there a way to only show the post title without the excerpt on the homepage? I have “latest posts” set for my homepage and under the “Theme Options” – “Blog Options” it only lets me set the excerpt to a minimum of 20 words (I can’t set it to 0), but I would just like the blog title to show under the image for each blog post on the homepage.

Another mystery here for me is that in order to post/reply/make comments on Living Inside-Out and Let’s Get Real one needs to be logged in. I assume it’s for anyone who wants to comment or post a reply, right? And the log in is via WordPress. My clients may not want to have a log in requirement, whether WordPress or any other log in program, but would want to maintain comment moderator option. How do I do this?

Hey guys loving the theme just have a few problems..

1) Why is the body background picture not visible if my website is set to have Wide Site Layout Style, is only visible once I put it in Boxed style?

2) How do you guys find pictures to post in your revolution slider. Mine is around 1240×400 so its hard to find quality pictures for that size. Or when I resize them down they don’t look as good. Any tips on this to make it look as HD as the one in the virtue premium demo?

3) What does this setting mean? It just says select2…

4) What does “Call To Action” and “Breadcrumbs” mean, not really sure what I can use those for?

5) And finally I am having problem when viewing a page with columns on mobile. For example a piece of text and a picture looks good on a computer, but in mobile the pictures are randomly in between the text. Any tips on fixing this?

Hey Grace,
To collect testimonials you can use the Testimonial shortcode. You can find this in the Virtue Shortcodes tab within the visual editor.
You can create new testimonial posts from the Testimonial tabs in your admin panel.
The testimonial page is set up the same way as the portfolio page. Create a new page and select the Testimonial Grid page template. This will automatically pull the featured images of your testimonial posts to that page.
