    Hi,

    I have a page with all events recently added as a blog.
    On this page the two latest events now do not load completely when you clock on them. Looks like the slider in the header and the sidebar stops loading.
    This is the way it should look like.

    The Events Calendar Pro
    Ascend 1.7.3 + Child Theme
    WP 5.1

    What have happened?

    Best Regards,

    Leif

    Hello,

    I want to add custom sidebars and have done so in Misc. They show up in Widgets and I pick them on the page I want them to show up for, but somehow, it’s only the primary sidebar that show, no matter which sidebar I choose from the drop down menu.

    Hello,

    I am having a problem in the Posts area of my dashboard which seems to be a theme issue.

    Though I prefer the classic editor for creating posts, the posts section directs to the block editor, but the display of both editors has suddenly changed and I’m no longer able to create posts using either editor.

    When using the block editor, the toolbar for formatting, uploading images, etc has disappeared, so I cannot properly create blocks or format the post in any way. When I try to preview the post or publish it, that link directs to a broken one on my homepage.

    See screenshot of block editor:

    When using the classic editor (my preferred method to create a post), the interface has suddenly changed visually, not displaying the toolboxes to format the post, and the entire sidebar with buttons to preview/publish the post has also disappeared. No method to post at all.

    Screenshot of classic editor:

    I thought this could be a browser issue but I tried it on multiple devices and using multiple browsers with the same issue.

    After some searching I can’t seem to find any similar cases of this occurring.

    Could you help me restore the blog post editor (even if just the classic editor) to display and function correctly, please?

    Can provide login details if necessary.

    Thanks.

    After the 5.1 update, I am getting the following error on calirose.com

    Uncaught ReferenceError: tinymce is not defined
    in wp-includes/js/tinymce/plugins/compat3x/plugin.min.js file

    The result is a non-working visual editor. The tabs [visual] and [text] don’t work. The visual editor (if your user profile was lucky enough to be set to that screen before the update) displays the code, only all in white so it appears as a blank editor.

    I have tried:

    deactivating all plugins, upon which the edit page is 100% blank
    adding define(‘CONCATENATE_SCRIPTS’, false); to my config file
    reinstalling the 5.1 core
    unchecking []disable visual editor at a user level
    creating a new user
    reinstalling PHP version
    toggling htaccess file off and on

    I hesitate to change the theme, as I know this will mean hours for me, as the last time I did it I had to rebuild all my sidebars.
    I’m not using any caching at this time and I can’t find any tools for this on the host’s cpanel
    I use a child theme with a function that calls an extra sidebar and adds an excerpt to my portfolio pages but that’s all it does.

    Any ideas for other things I can try?

    Thank you!
    Amy

    is it possible to use the dynamic Woo-commerce search filter in the same way as your top category filter works?

    No, the category filter only filters what is on the page and uses a isotope javascript function which isn’t built to work as a search. For a search I recommend this plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/ajax-search-for-woocommerce/

    If you have more then 1 page of products where you need to use filters by brand and things then you shoudn’t be using the theme filter. It’s only designed to filter by category and only designed for smaller stores. It’s scope is just to filter what is on the page and isn’t intended to work like an ajax filter which you could add in your sidebar.

    or will i have to use another plugin like Woof filter OR Another plugin

    or is it possible to move your kadence filter technique and style to the sidebar?

    Hello and thanks for replying!

    Unfortunately I don’t find it as very good solution for now because I need to use that sidebar-area; I would have to set the page to fullwidth, manually add some code into several PHP files and in the end, it would make no sense, in that case I could “recode” the theme, putting sidebar code next to content..
    PS: I am using own-made child-theme.

    Ideal solution for me would be if You could provide a css code like one theme author has provided (https://wpastra.com/docs/how-to-display-woocommerce-sidebar-on-top-on-mobile/) – this is simple and logic, but have not yet been able to figure out the code for our theme.

    Hey,

    This should not be assumed:

    without using so many widgets that the page loading speed gets bogged down?

    Mostly because it’s not true, most widgets would load very quickly and have next to no impact on speed.

    Best to talk about real examples with real widgets being talked about.

    How you would style a widget depends on the widget options. For example, you can’t add an image to a WordPress navigation widget. So if you want navigation with an image you can’t use that widget. You need to create a custom list either through a visual editor widget or some other widget if you want an image.

    1. Yes, you can place things in your sidebars on the widgets page.

    2. Yes in each page you want to show a sidebar you should select that you want to show a sidebar and choose widget sidebar you want to show.

    Does that help?

    Hello,

    I wonder if you could point me to some literature on how to make Sidebars useful and aesthetically pleasing, without using so many widgets that the page loading speed gets bogged down?

    For my purposes, I don’t anticipate a lot of new content in the Sidebars (like blog posts). Rather, it would be a static group of images, short texts describing a tour, and links to the tour page for more information. So my purpose would be to have an extra navigational element for a user to be able to quickly click between different tours.

    On this page: http://www.johngrahamtours.com/tours

    I’m just getting text in tight rows. How do I modify the look and spacing of this text? Perhaps add images?

    1. Appearance>Widgets appears to be the place that I add things to Sidebars, such as “Tours Sidebar”.

    2. On individual pages, I need to specify the appropriate Sidebar, such as “Tours Sidebar”, correct?

    Thanks for guidance, John

    Hey,
    Sidebars by design won’t show above your content on mobile… You can hack this with css (I strongly discourage it) just post a link and I can help with that (please always post a link, helps so much!). Note that the entire sidebar will show above your content if you do this.

    I encourage people to use the mobile menu as a place you can add more navigation since it can be a separate menu for your desktop header navigation.

    My client has asked this: When you look at the member home page and reduce the size of the screen any words don’t scale but wrap onto a separate line. Is there any way to scale the words when the screen size is reduced so you don’t see the words wrap onto a second line that looks kind of funny?

    I am assuming he is talking about the use of heading size on text within column blocks and paragraphs. Your input appreciated. I would tell him that wrapping is an important part of Gutenberg layout management, particularly depending on which browser they are using and their computer’s screen setup, which I have no control over. There is also sometimes a difference between a PC and Mac.

    Anything I am missing here? Or is there a way to scale texts within the blocks to prevent wrapping?

    PS One possible solution may be to reduce width of sidebar widgets. That should give more room for some of the text he is referring to in column blocks.

    Hey Ben,

    Please don’t lose my point – all I’m asking for is an Instagram link within KT Share – does that make sense? It doesn’t matter one bit if you can share or not, it’s a convenient and sensible location to help promote a websites Instagram account, nobody cares if KT Share has a field for a non sharing Instagram link, but if it does, your customers will use it. You know as well as anyone that the majority of sharing plugins are heavy with code and why KT Share is perfect for most of us, it also allows for style consistency throughout the theme, that’s a good a thing.

    Widgets and the Topbar setting icons are great but don’t stand out – if you are not using a sidebar the widget is of little use.

    KT Share does not have to be a strictly share only plugin – Instagram is a perfect exception and a missed opportunity to help allow customers to promote their Instagram without using a bloated sharing/social linking whatever you want to call it plugin – I cant see how anyone would complain if you added a link option. You built in plenty of flexibility throughout the theme – please consider tweaking KT Share – “please”.

    Also – KT Share displays much better on mobile devices than widgets or top bar icons – just stick a link option in there for IG.

    Hey Suzy,
    It looks like 85px of padding is being added to the top and bottom of your rows. In your edit page when you edit the Row Layout block and you open the Padding/Margin tab in the right sidebar, are you able to reduce the padding there?

    Using a child theme,

    Add this into the function.php file:

    add_action( 'virtue_sidebar', 'custom_second_sidebar_markup', 40 );
    function virtue_sidebar_markup() {
    <aside id="second-ktsidebar" class="kad--second-sidebar" role="complementary" itemscope itemtype="https://schema.org/WPSideBar">
    	<div class="sidebar">
    		<?php dynamic_sidebar( 'sidebar1' ); ?>
    	</div><!-- /.sidebar -->
    </aside><!-- /aside -->
    }

    Then post a link to your site with that added and I can get you some css to make that work.

    Hello!

    I have Ascend-based webpage (
    When in mobile view, I would like the SIDEBAR appear BEFORE / ON TOP of the content.

    Currently, sidebar content goes down of the content.
    How to achieve that?

    Best regards,
    Mathias

    The ascend recent posts widget is designed to have a max width of 420px. This is because of the size of the image output. It’s truly designed to be a sidebar or smaller column widget. You can use this css to force the max width change:

    .kadence_recent_posts {
        max-width: 100%;
    }

    I suggest if you are wanting huge columns to be filled with posts to consider using a shortcode to output the posts. Or the Kadence Blocks Pro – Post Grid/Carousel block.
