July 13, 2018 at 2:41 pm #195919Hey,
No that isn’t an option within the theme. You can use a logo and the site below logo text. Or you can add your text into the logo image itself.Ben
In forum: Virtue ThemeJuly 13, 2018 at 2:37 pm #195915Hey,
I understand not updating if it’s not broken (although you’re pretty far back). But your site is broken right now and you are tracking down issues so why not get all updated?I strongly suggest setting up some kind of staging or easy rollbacks with wp-rollbacks or with something like managewp backups.
After all, it was casual upgrades that brought us to this point.
Updating only part of your site and leaving other things not updated is a recipe to create conflicts and issues.
As for this being a theme issue, it’s the standard finger to point. We get it all the time and in many cases isn’t pretty laughable because it’s impossible for the theme to even control some of the areas but I always do my very best to help people and resolve the issue because while I know the code that you don’t and you pay for our products and support so we support beyond the theme. I’m not suggesting by asking why you are not updated that I won’t help you but the very first thing I would do is updated your site because that is always the first place to start when you have a current bug.
So if that is off the table then I’ll do some workaround to see what it might be but I do still strongly suggest you start there.
Can you tell me is this for both admin emails and client emails or just admin?
Do you mind if I temporarily install a plugin so I can send test emails to myself to trouble shoot?

Hi Kadence! I’m looking about different options to create a knowledge base into an existing ascend-theme site or on a separate wp install. Do you have any suggestion? What solution did you guys implement for *Login to see link
Thanks

In forum: Virtue ThemeI sort of do keep things updated, but carefully… and certainly not regularly.
Yes, there are MANY reasons why I don’t prefer to take regular updates to my plugins, particularly WooCommerce.
For one, every time I take a new version of any part of any software, I risk compatibility issues that will cost me a tremendous mount of time and money. Updating is like a crap-shoot where you often lose much more than you gain! (I allow automated WP updates for security purposes, but within the same version only, since they guarantee no functionality changes within WP security updates. The same cannot be said about most plugins.)
Another reason is that once the desired functionality is achieved, all of my clients prefer an, “If it isn’t broke, don’t fix it!” approach to their technology. They are interesting in selling cupcakes or whatever – not chasing the latest web-trends. When a website WORKS – and I mean really WORKS – WHY OH WHY would you ever want to mess with it, unless you NEED to change functionality? I’m certainly not going to update anything that is working exactly as desired unless I have to, because I want to do something new, or there is a serious IDENTIFIABLE and SPECIFIC security threat that ABSOLUTELY REQUIRES updating a plugin, and even then I’m more likely to just want to patch the security hole manually within the plugin, and not risk breaking desire functionality, due to some unwanted change in a new version.
Note that this issue is occurring on multiple versions of WC. PA Bakery is 3.3.4 and Heaven & Nature Store is 3.2.1. Both demonstrate the problem. I have no reason to believe that upgrading to 3.4.3 WC will fix it. (WC certainly told me it should be working as desired in either version as-is, unless there is a theme or plugin conflict.)
If we MUST upgrade WooCommerce, we can, but we risk creating a cascade of potential changes/failures in desired functionality. After all, it was casual upgrades that brought us to this point.
It definitely showed the Phone Number on the new order emails for both of these customers a few months ago; maybe even more recently – not sure. We certainly have added some functionality to these sites since then, and that included updating plugins, etc. Somewhere along the line, the Phone Number stopped showing up, but we didn’t necessarily notice it right away. THIS is the biggest issue I have with running updates. Things change that you REALLY DON’T WANT to change, and the worst is when you don’t even notice it because it’s slightly obscure, like a couple of missing fields on an order email.
Even with reasonable testing, there is still so much you can miss. Unless you can dedicate a body to constant system-wide reviews – and that’s simply not financially feasible for most small businesses – it’s just better to NOT upgrade and risk the loss of functionality – or worse…a bad update screws up your data!
Regular updates generate an unnecessary and constant threat to your website’s established flow and experience. (You built it to work a certain way. Took the time and effort to make it “just so” – perfect! Then you update, and… it changes. What a waste of time. No thank you.)
(In this case, WC says it’s probably the theme – definitely not WC – the Phone Number SHOULD be showing. If you fix it through the theme, great! If you can prove them wrong and it is indeed a WC plugin issue, so be it. I’ll then fight that battle with them, but as of now everyone is just pointing fingers at everyone else, and I’m stuck with a customer website that doesn’t work correctly because an update broke something along the way.)
Can you please help me resolve this issue?

Hi Ben,
Ok – I did that. The test on the VigLink site is now throwing up an error saying ‘there are multiple instances of VigLink code on your site, there should only be one’.
I made sure I cleared all the other places I put the code before by the way, and ran the test to make sure there were no instances of VigLink code on there before adding it to the Theme Options – Header and Footer Scripts – Footer Output box. So not sure why it says the code appears more than once?

July 12, 2018 at 6:09 pm #195832Hey,
Before I do anything on your site.1. I see that you are using 1.2.8 of the theme. Why are you not updating? The current version is 1.5.3.
2. You are using a third party plugin “tax jar”. Are you meaning to do this and if so then you need to talk with their support.
