    Hi,

    Website is

I have 2 kinds of posts – videos and articles.

Is it possible to display them in separate sections on the same page (full width template with a header pic)?
Maybe videos 1st and then the articles?

    Many thanks,
    Deepa

    Hi,
    Reference website:
    1) On the Home Page above, the Social Icons do not display when using the Plugin ‘Super Socializer’ but they are visible in the all the other Pages.
    2) I can’t even get them to appear in the Header Widget, I can get other items to appear e.g. ‘Virtue: Social Icons’ which I used initially, but this was less than ideal because I could not:
    3) Find how to position them horizontally in line with the Logo.
    4) Position them as far right as possible (where the ‘Super Socializer’ Icons now sit on all pages but the Home page).
    5) Additionally, I wanted the Facebook and Twitter Icons to be their traditional colours.)
    6) I’ve checked and double-checked all the Plugin settings and indeed have changed them multiple times to see if it makes any difference, but it does not.
    Please advise, thank you.

I can do a couple checks on your site If I have access to your host and WordPress. The error is concerning because it shouldn’t be there and it’s not like anyone else is reporting this so it’s something on your server.

    Hey,
So photon is part of jetpack you can turn this off in jetpack or deactivate jetpack both will allow you to test with that off.

Minify and caching plugins are usually in the plugins area. But some hosts have built-in caching.

If you look in your plugins area and don’t see something that is obviously referencing caching or minify you should be fine.

The next time you see this issue. Go here: https://tools.pingdom.com/ and scan your site. Keep the results I want to see what that output is while your site seems to be stuck.

    Hey
Problem 1. Can you tell me which version of pinnacle premium you are using?

Problem 2 I’m sorry if it was in some way conveyed that we would not want to help you with a pinnacle site. We would certainly want to help with that.

Could you send me the login to your pinnacle site? You can use the checkbox for Set as private reply. I want to see this.

Your errors are referencing this file: /home/2islandtraveller/www/wordpress/wp-includes/user.php on line 54

but with the latest version of wordpress line 54 of that files is nothing. There is no code there. So that makes me wonder if you are using the latest version of wordpress?

I created a submenu for one of my primary menu options. I am hoping to have my submenu appear directly under the primary menu option, but instead it is appearing below what I believe is the header box. Is there a way to change it?
I will send you my website link.
    Thanks.

    Hello Elliot,

You should be able to run php 7 without any issues with both themes. I’m not really sure why this issue is happening to you, but I”ll flag this thread for a developer followup so that Ben can assist ASAP.

As for the SSL certificate, I suggest you read through this post:
    https://www.kadencewp.com/adding-ssl-wordpress/

It outlines adding the SSL to your site correctly and should be a helpful guide for you.

Hi! I´ve been looking for this issue in the forums and I don´t find anything that solves my question.

When a new order is placed the site assigns a non-correlative number. It seems as if a lot of orders were placed between one and the next. The last order yesterday was #11080 and the first one of today has been #11884. How could I do to have all the orders with correlative numbers?

    Thank you!

Meant to add – where are the caching plugins? Is that server side, WordPress or my MAC? My host server is at Siteground

    #182426

I Ben – thanks for this. Apologies I didn’t see your reply in the Free forum. I wondered if the issue was caused by large images and tried removing the slider images as well as the portfolio and the blog posts from the home page on Monday but the issue persisted. I’ll try compressing all the images now though.

Is Photon part of the Jetpack plugin? if so I’ll try deactivating Jetpack. I don’t know what minify is but guess it’s to do with coding. I’m not a developer and haven’t done any coding on the site.

    Hello,

We bought the theme Pinnacle around 3 years ago to build our website. The website has been great and working very well and we had great experiences using Kadence to help us build our site (we are amateurs and really don’t know what we are doing)

Because we had such good memories using you we decided to buy another theme Ascend. Now we have 2 websites the old site using Pinnacle and the new site using Ascend. Recently our hosting provider created a SSL plugin (we found out because a friend noticed that our site had a problem with the security certificate), however the plugin wasn’t supported by our current php5 settings so we upgrade the php to 7 and activated the plugin. However we now have a couple of issues

    Problem 1

The website using Ascend was unaffected, but when we tried to login again to the wordpress account on our pinnacle site an error message came up and we couldn’t get access (sorry we didn’t make a note of the error message). Going back to our hosting we reverted back to php5, this gave us access to our pinnacle wordpress login so we deactivated the plugin and changed the hosting back to php7. Because we are using the same host for both websites we cannot choose php 5 for pinnacle and php7 for Ascend, so we want to have the latest php (which is 7) We would like to re activate the SSL plugin but feel like it will corrupt our login access again.

    Problem 2

Even without reactivating the SSL plugin the pinnacle website has a few problems in php7 and also if we revert back to php5, firstly the font is no longer the same, and secondly we have 2 error messages on all our blog posts like the following:

Warning: Parameter 1 to wp_default_styles() expected to be a reference, value given in /home/2islandtraveller/www/wordpress/wp-includes/plugin.php on line 571

Warning: Illegal string offset ‘output_key’ in /home/2islandtraveller/www/wordpress/wp-includes/nav-menu.php on

I feel because we have bought the Ascend template you can help us with any problems on the Ascend site but as this is a problem with our Pinnacle you might not want to look into this? Any help would be really appreciated as we are a bit stuck right now.

Update: we just tried to login to our pinnacle site on wordpress from another computer and got this error message:

Warning: Illegal string offset ‘remember’ in /home/2islandtraveller/www/wordpress/wp-includes/user.php on line 39

Warning: Cannot assign an empty string to a string offset in /home/2islandtraveller/www/wordpress/wp-includes/user.php on line 39

Warning: Illegal string offset ‘user_login’ in /home/2islandtraveller/www/wordpress/wp-includes/user.php on line 54

Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Cannot create references to/from string offsets in /home/2islandtraveller/www/wordpress/wp-includes/user.php:54 Stack trace: #0 /home/2islandtraveller/www/wordpress/wp-login.php(775): wp_signon(”, ”) #1 {main} thrown in /home/2islandtraveller/www/wordpress/wp-includes/user.php on line 54

    Many thanks

    Hey,

    Is it the PHP version

No, all the demos use 7.1 many use 7.2 it’s not a php version issue. That also doesn’t make sense at all because this issue only happens as you said for 2-3 hours at a time then it works. If it were a PHP issue it would happen all the time.

It looks like you are referring to this topic: https://wordpress.org/support/topic/home-page-failing-to-display/

Did you try what I suggested there? Turn off photon, turn off your caching plugins leave those off for a day and see what happens?

Something else to add, this image: https://pale-blue-dot.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/Sward6_8381_slider.jpg

Is 2.2 MB alone. Your entire page should be less than 2.2mb. So you should compress that for web before you upload it. I would suggest you go through and resize and compress all your slider images so they are optimized for web.

check out this site for compressing: http://compressjpeg.com/

    Hello

My homepage fails to display for 2-3 hours at a time, each day. It shows the title, ‘Home Page’ and ‘View full site’. I posted this issues a few days ago when I was using Virtue free and Kevin suggested I upgrade the theme. Was then getting the error below:

“PHP Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to undefined function do_action() in /home/paleblu6/public_html/wp-content/themes/virtue/index.php:5
    Stack trace:
    #0 {main}
thrown in /home/paleblu6/public_html/wp-content/themes/virtue/index.php on line 5”

I’ve since upgraded to Premium as I’ve spent months researching themes and want to stay with Virtue to open an online shop – I’ve also spent months building my site. The issue still remains and it’s preventing me going live with the shop. My host – Siteground have looked at the server extensively and can find no cause but believe there is something in the theme causing it – their answer yesterday was:

“I checked the case in detail and it seems the issue relates only to the mobile version of the website. As my colleagues mentioned so far the theme it self most likely is not fully compatible with PHP versions 7.1 and 7.2 as this is why its recommended to use 7.0 or even 5.6. As the issue is most likely related to the theme it self and its methods via which the mobile version is generated I think your best options are to either contact the development team of the theme or hire a professional developer to take a look at the issue.”

When I edit the home page and save it the homepage sometimes come back but the issue returns again – also sometimes when I click “View fill site” on my MAC it fixes it for a while. This issue occurs on mobile, mac OS, Chromebook and PC at work so I don’t think it’s browser related. Is it the PHP version?

    Can you help?

    regards
    Jane

Ok let me see if I can help further:

    1. In the customizer, you can’t follow a link that takes you out of the customizer since home is a link that is not matched to the URL you are currently on (you are using a temp url) clicking that link would take you out of the customizer. in Point 5 I switched you to use the real domain so this isn’t an issue anymore.

    2. You have to verify your email for that change to take place, once it’s verified then you will be able to edit more.

You should look in your email account for the verification email.

    See this image:

    3. So for sharing links, you need sharing plugin, for linking to your personal profiles you can use the social links widget.

Sharing is different than linking to a personal profile.

I installed a sharing plugin for you that is really easy to work with and added it to your site. You can remove if it’s not what you want but I wanted to get you set up.

    4. You would just copy the url of that post. So open another tab for example, go to the post you want to link to then copy the url that is in your browser.

Then in your post edit select the text you want to be a link, and click the insert link icon.

I’ve added two screen shots to help:

    https://postimg.org/gallery/2sh3lsq8e/

    5. This has to do with your host original set up. You can read more here: https://my.bluehost.com/hosting/help/wordpress_url#from_url

I just moved you to a permanent so you would be set.

    #182410

Ok well for the record that password you sent is for bluehost and your account there. It’s not the password for the user admin to login to your wordpress site.

Now that you said to go through Bluehost I was able to get into your site.

I fixed your issue where you had code added to the post, you can see images here of how that looked:
    https://postimg.org/gallery/3c95rs0jy/
Now your home page and that post works.

I’m going to post my questions in the hopes that somebody else can help me.

1 – When I am previewing my site and I click on Home, I get a little red circle with a line through it and nothing happens. Home no longer is home, apparently.

2 – I tried to change some information on my profile but couldn’t make it work. I kept getting this error “ERROR: Please enter an email address” even though I did enter my email. The email I’m entering is [email protected].

3 – How do I get social media buttons to show at the top of every post and the top & bottom of every page? I want Pinterest, Facebook and Instagram. Right now they are black buttons and sometimes they are on the right side, sometimes they’re on the bottom. I would like larger, colored buttons please.

4 – When I am writing a blog post and I want to link back to another post of mine, how do I do that? I know there’s code involved but I don’t know what code to use, or where to put the code.

5 – Why does the URL read http://box5466.temp.domains/~barnlady/wp-admin/customize.php?return=%2F%7Ebarnlady%2Fwp-admin%2F? Why is it a temporary domain and how do I get it to be permanent?

    Thank you.

    Deb
