    Hi

    I am developing a site

    I am trying to match the header in which is owned by the same people I work for.

    In header settings I have chosen the bottom option “LOGO, EXTRAS, MENU AND EXTRAS” and have enabled and added a widget and second widget area, however, both widgets appear on the right of the header.
    Can you please let me know where I am going wrong.

    Thanks

    David

    Hi,

    I made a new page on my site named “xxx” with the plan to replace an existing page which was called “about”. I then deleted the original “about page” and renamed my temporary “xxx” page to “about”. (I suspect this is very bad practice?!)

    Anyways, everything worked as hoped, but now I have my product category filter, recently viewed products, and search bar appearing on the bottom of this new page when they shouldn’t be anywhere on this page. These widgets are used in my shop/products area but they don’t show up on any of my other non shop related pages (as expected). By default, I’ve left off the options to hide these widgets off my other pages as I never had a problem with them appearing so this is confusing. Also, I’m confused as to why these widgets are appearing at the bottom of the page when they are all set to sidebar placement.

    If I rename my new page to something other than “about”, the problem goes away. So it seems there is a conflict and I’ve managed to break something. I could just rename the “about” page but I’d like to know if there is a possible answer to my baffoonery?

    Apologies in advance for this as I can almost guarantee it’s completely my fault..!

    Hello,

    It’s possible you have a plugin conflict breaking your admin. I suggest deactivating plugins and testing to see if the widget area works properly when a certain plugin is OFF.

    Let me know if you find anything.

    Hi,

    I am not able to modify my widget area at all.

    None of the drop down areas are clickable.

    I do see the prompt to modify widgets with preview mode, but that doesn’t work either.

    Link to website if needed:

    I also just installed a fresh, new instance of WP with the Virtue Premium theme, then used Kadence Importer to import the demo content. After doing so and looking at the homepage, the ONLY content in the editor is the call to action. Yet, the site shows everything! Odd that the other page content seems to be hidden somewhere. I was mainly wanting to see what kind of widget or content type the “Latest from the Blog” was (see attached image). I figured it was some kind of “recent post” but the demo looks WAY different than my real site when I use ANY of the recent post widgets – editing with Elementor. I thought maybe it’s a widget specific to SiteOrigin or something else. But I can’t even see that content in the editing area of the demo page.

    Incidentally, the Kadence site page that links to the Kadence Importer (https://www.kadencewp.com/kadence-themes-demo-content/) also downloads an out of date version of the plugin. Upon installing, it immediately asked me to update the plugin, which I did. Easy enough, but it seems the main landing page for the plugin should link to the latest version.

    Hello,

    You can achieve this by adding the posts to your home page content or home widget area. Firstly, go to Theme Options> Home Layout, and make sure either the page content or the widget area are active, depending on which you want to use.

    Then, you can add the posts via a text widget or into the text editor within your home page content with shortcode like this:
    [blog_grid orderby=date items=4 columns=2]

    You can find the full shortcode options here:
    http://docs.kadencethemes.com/virtue-premium/shortcodes/

    Another option would be to use the post grid/carousel block in Kadence Blocks to add the posts to your page content:
    https://www.kadenceblocks.com/docs/configure-a-blog-list-with-post-grid-carousel-block/

    That tutorial shows how to build a blog list, but you can set it up the way you’re wanting in the settings.

    Let me know if this is helpful for you!

    Ascend Theme –Recent Posts widget not displaying in the Header, no matter which Header style we choose.

    The Posts display fine in ANY OTHER widget area.
    Tried to display recent Posts with other plugins and shortcodes without success. Shortcodes either show the whole Post and run over or makes the entire header area spaz out.

    All plugins are current.

    Hey Carlos,
    There isn’t a built-in function for this, but as a workaround, you could enable the header widget area from Theme Options > Main Settings. Then add a search widget to your header widget area from Appearance > Widgets. Then to align it all, add this to your custom css box in Theme Options > Advanced Settings:

    @media (min-width: 992px) {
    .col-md-4.clearfix.kad-header-left {
        width: 100%;
        margin: auto;
        text-align: center;
    }
    #logo {
        display: inline-block;
    }
    .col-md-8.kad-header-widget {
        width: 100%;
        text-align: center;
    }
    .widget-1.widget-first.header-widget-area-header.widget_search {
        display: inline-block;
        margin: auto;
    }
    }

    Let me know how that works for you!

    Hey Stephen,
    I would recommend using a shortcode like this: [products limit="8" columns="4" category="hoodies"]
    You can paste that into your static homepage or into a text widget in your home widget area.
    You can remove the product carousel by disabling it from the homepage layout manager in Theme Options > Home Layout.
    The image size will depend on the number of columns you use.
    Hope that’s helpful!

    Hi Michael,
    Did you clear your cache before deactivating the plugin? I’m also seeing your topbar widget area display 100%.

    Hannah

    #223670

    I’m seeing the widget area display at 100%. While in development, I recommend disabling the caching plugin entirely. You don’t really need it on your site until it’s finished.

    How do I Extend the WidthTop Bar Widget Area?

    #223447

    No, I mean you should only be able to select your sidebars, and not the other widget area.

    I suggest deactivating your plugins one by one to see if the sidebar works properly when a certain plugin is OFF.

    Let me know if you find anything.

    Hello,

    Just to clarify, neither of those sites are using a child theme, they are both configured within the constraints of the default theme. So you can accomplish this on any site with Ascend!

    The blog area is configured using page builder in the home page content. It’s set to show 3 columns, each column containing a Ascend: Recent Posts Widget. Each column is set to show only posts of a certain category.

    The call to action is also added in page builder, using a fullwidth row with one column.

    Here’s more information on the page builder plugin:

    Let me know if this is helpful!

    Odd, it shouldn’t give you the option to choose other widget areas for your sidebar. What version number of the theme are you running on your site? Do you have any plugins that are adding a sidebar feature?

    #223279

    Hi Caroline,
    There isn’t a built-in function to set the number of columns for that widget. It will fit into the area that it is added. If you’re wanting more control I would recommend using a shortcode like this: [portfolio_posts orderby=date excerpt=false columns=4 items=16 height=200 lightbox=true showtypes=true cat=photos]
    As for your second question, I will talk with the developer and be back with you soon!

    Hello,

    You can control the content of your topbar by enabling the widget area in it. You can do so in Theme Options> Topbar Settings, and setting “Enable widget area in right of Topbar?” to ON.

    Then navigate to appearance> widgets to add your content.

    Does that work for you?

    Hi, I would like to add a pagebuilder row beneath the testimonial grid.
    Here’s the link:

    So just above the bottom widget area and below the testimonials, I need to place a logo with a link.

    Is there a way to add stuff beneath the grid?

    Thanks
    Glen

    Try dragging the widget area to the top like in the screenshot I sent you. Then it should display as you need.
