In reply to: Custom Header
November 20, 2017 at 5:33 pm #168810Hey Melissa,
While you can hack in Pagebuilder so that it’s used for the header it wouldn’t really be the best choice. But you can do it even without using a child theme but instead just adding some custom css and working in the header widget area with a pagebuilder layout widget. But based on your image you can create that header using the normal functions within the theme. The logo image and site title would need to be one image but you can have the tagline below.

November 20, 2017 at 10:21 am #168739Pagebuilder adds margin to separate each widget in columns. You have to use css to remove that. Then in your widget where you’ve set the background to gray you need to add padding to the top and bottom in the same area where you set the background.
So add this css:#pl-2748 #pgc-2748-1-0 .so-panel, #pl-2748 #pgc-2748-1-0 .so-panel h2 { margin: 0; }then add your padding.

In forum: Ascend ThemeIn forum: Virtue ThemeHi
I’ve lined up my primary menu’s text to line up with the logo and have a space under the tab’s background.
1. I’d like to extend the background down to line up with the top of the content area.
2. The accordion widget on that page – the active tab background is transparent, how can I make it a colour?
Pls advise
In forum: Virtue ThemeIn reply to: How to place the Search in header
November 15, 2017 at 12:09 pm #168163There isn’t a built in option to do what you asking.
Closest would be to select the logo layout with the widget on the right. That will place your menu below the logo and widget area.
You can hack in css to move the menu up and to the right of the logo but it’s not a default setting.
That css would look something like this:
.col-md-12.kad-header-right #nav-main { float: right; margin-top: -40px; margin-bottom: 0; }I can’t get you any closer without seeing it on your site.

In forum: Virtue ThemeIn reply to: How to place the Search in header
November 14, 2017 at 4:30 pm #168032You can add it as part of the menu by going to theme options > menus and enabling the search icon.
You can also add it to your header if you enabled the header widget area by going to theme options > main settings Logo layout.
Or you can add to the topbar of your header using the topbar widget area and enabling the topbar in your theme options > topbar settings.
If you want to have anything more specialises then the standard WordPress search you have to use a plugin and then you would need to use that plugins custom widget on the second or third option.

In forum: Virtue ThemeIn reply to: Sitewide after header shortcode – move into header
Thanks Hannah.
I had a go at the header widget approach, but of course that constrains the slider to the widget area on the right hand side. That has helped me be more specific about the problem. Can I combine a shrink-on-sticky header with the slider (shortcode) immediately below? The slider should be sticky but not shrink. The more I think about this, the more I think I need to modify header.php.
Kind regards,

November 13, 2017 at 9:56 am #167808Hey,
Yes, the widget area where you are adding social links is not part of the mobile header. You would need to add icons either through the mobile topbar or in some other part of the page.Ben

In forum: Virtue ThemeNovember 9, 2017 at 4:48 am #167345Hello
I installed external ajax product search plugin to topbar widget area.
The search box it too wide. Is there a way to make the widget area smaller? The plugin is working for example on sidebar normally.
Also, the “search” placeholder text is grey. Is there a way to change the text to white?
In forum: Ascend ThemeTopic: A Good Fit?
I have a client website that was built on the theme Weaver II. It’s a large complex site with a fair amount of CSS to get it the way the client wanted it, and it needs an upgrade. Upgrading to the next generation of Weaver is a possibility, but I’d much rather switch it over to Ascend, which I’m a lot more comfortable with.
There are a few things about this site that I’m concerned might be difficult or impossible in Ascend, and I’m hoping you can advise me about what whether that’s true, or what might be involved.
1) I think the biggest issue is the navigation panels. The client likes having the menus and submenus displayed with as many as three tiers visible, as shown for example: *Login to see link or here: *Login to see link Is there a way to get something like that to work in Ascend?
2) Another issue is the fact that they use different sidebar elements (mostly various kinds of gallery widgets) for every page. In the current theme this is accomplished by creating separate widget areas for each page. I suppose this could be accomplished in Ascend by using the SiteOrigin editor, and creating a sidebar column on each page, and inserting the widgets there. Does that seem like the best approach?
3) A third concern is that there are scores of galleries already set up on the site using a plugin called NextGen. I’d prefer not to spend days remaking those, and I am assuming that changing the theme would not disturb these existing galleries, and they could still be plugged into the pages where they need to go. Am I correct to assume that?
Answers to those questions and any other issues that you notice would be gratefully appreciated!

NicIn forum: Virtue ThemeIn reply to: Replacing topbar search
Hey,
You should be able to do this by turning off the search in your Theme Options> Topbar Settings. Enable the topbar widget area.
Then, go to Appearance> Widgets, and add a “text” or “visual editor” widget. Paste the shortcode into the widget, and save.
Let me know if that works for you.

In forum: Pinnacle ThemeIn reply to: How do you restore footer (links) content?
Hello,
Try going to Appearance> Widgets, and see if you’re missing widgets in the footer. If so, check the inactive widgets area, they may have gotten moved there.
If you’re referring to the footer menu, check Appearance> menus, and make sure the navigation is still assigned.
Let me know what you find.

In forum: Ascend ThemeIn reply to: Styling Extra Footer widget area above the footer
Brillant! Thanks Kevin. The Page Builder option worked great. I like to avoid custom CSS whenever possible.
Here is what I did:
Widgets – Layout Builder – Above Footer Widget Area – Add Widget
– Open Builder – Add Widget (not add a widget)
– All Widgets – Visual Editor
– Edit (enter/add text including font, font family, positioning, etc.)
– Design – Background Color – Done – Done Save – View Site
Thanks again!

November 1, 2017 at 10:17 am #166253I don’t understand why you keep coming back to this. But I’ll try to explain again you’re making the site wrong by having a fullwidth area and a sidebar. That is bad development and incorrect on your part. Weather of not any browser shows it how you want doesn’t matter and really shouldn’t matter to you. You can’t do something wrong and be upset that not all browser will show it the way you want.
You can do this very simply using pagebuilder to add in your column. My suggestion of adding a widget plugin isn’t a requirement it was simply a way in which you might find it easier to accomplish what you want. But be all means do it whatever way you want.
If you want to keep this conversion station going back and forth for days that’s fine with me but if you want help with your site post a login and fix your bad layout.

In forum: Virtue ThemeIn reply to: testimonial text styles and home content layout
Hey Mimi,
1. It looks like your line height is set to 35px. You can change this from Theme Options > Typography.
2. You can create a Kadence Slider then add the slider shortcode into the page content area or into a text widget.
https://www.kadencewp.com/kadence-slider-pro/3. There isn’t a built-in option to add more font styles. You would need to code these into a child theme. You can, however, change any font with css. What did you di different with the “Re-align our lives…” testimonial than all the others?

In forum: Ascend ThemeHi – My footer area is a dark background with white text. However, the text input areas for the search bar and email signup widget are dark background with black text. I would like to change the text to white and I can’t find a setting that controls this. Would you be able to help with the appropriate css code please? Here is a link to the site – please see footer area.
