    Hey,

    There’s actually a built in option for this. You can enable it in Theme Options > Blog Options beside Blog Post Bottom Carousel Default. This can also be overridden on each single post edit page.

    This would be the perfect approach (also in terms of UX) and it also adds the carousel where it belongs to, but does not allow me to select products.

    [carousel type=”cat-products” orderby=”menu-order” columns=4 items=8 speed=9000 scroll=all cat=”photos”]

    This looks really nice, but it is inside the blog post (at bottom) and not below, i.e. it should be below the FB, twitter, etc share buttons. It is also missing the heading above the carousel (something like “Related products” or “You might also be interested” in the correct formating)

    Would be great if products could be integrated into the “Blog Post Bottom Carousel Default” option, maybe based on category.

    This is just an idea. If you say that this is out of scope for your theme, then no problem 🙂 But we would really need it as it would increase the upselling/crossselling opportunities from blog posts.

    Also – this is also just an idea but maybe a bit more difficult to implement – it would be great if the displayed items (be it products or other related blog posts) could be selected individually. Maybe letting the author enter the post/products IDs in a text field. The show “all items from this category” is better than nothing but being able to select individually makes the “matching” of related products more perfect.

    Hey no you shouldn’t ever override the core column classes generally. The point is that you use specific css so it only effects the place you want to change.

    For example your posts:

    @media (min-width: 992px){
    .home_blog .post .tcol-md-5, .home_blog .post .tcol-md-7 {
    width: 50%;
}
}

    If you want full content you can’t get it to show in little columns like this. You would need to use a different shortcode and it would show one post at a time.

    As for editing your excerpt you can do that in each post by setting the custom excert. If you click “screen options” in the top make sure “excerpt” is checked.

    The problem is that the genenerated html and its css classes are different from what is done on the startpage:

    1. It generates <div class="carousel_item grid_item"> whereas it is the following for the startpage <div class="grid_item product product_item custom_carousel_item all postclass">. I think it should be custom_carousel_item also for the shortcode. I know how I can copy the CSS over, but I think this should be fixed in an upcoming version of virtue.

    2. Other CSS like 

    #home-custom-carousel .custom_carousel_item {
    position: relative;
    border: 1px solid rgba(0, 0, 0, 0.05);
}

    This would not match any custom_carousel obviously but only the one on the startpage. Would be great if this could also be made more generic so that I do not need to feedle around with the CSS too much (copy’n’paste the existing “custom_carousel*” attributes)

    There might be even more CSS issues, maybe you try to adding a startpage-like custom carousel yourself and see if there are more inconsistencies between the startpage and what the shortcode does.

    Otherwise, this shortcode is really nice! 🙂

    HI guys
    I know there is not option for double sidebars in Virtue, but is it possible using css to widen the primary sidebar so I could have two columns in it?
    I need to put two widgets side by side.

    And narrow the main content without messing up the mobile bootstrap.

    Any advice?

    So you can use the carousel shortcode to add a carousel of products to a blog post. You would just add a category for the carousel that matched whatever you were trying to make related:

    Hi,

    I’m using a pinnacle gallery widget in a page to display small thumbnail pictures in two columns that display really nicely on the site. However I don’t want the user to be able to click on the pictures to view them individually and scroll through them.

    I don’t see a way to deactivate the link feature of the images within the gallery widget like you can do it on the image widget.

    Do I need to use simple image widgets and columns to replicate the look and feel of the gallery widget is or is there an easy way to deactivate the gallery image link feature?

    I am still on version 3.0.8 but in the Changelog there is no report about this, so I am pretty sure that this bug is still valid:

    I changed the default settings for galleries under Theme Options > Misc Settings and enabled:
    “Show captions on Virtue Galleries – This sets the defualt(sic!) caption setting to true.”

    But not it is always enabled, even if I manually add “caption=false” like in
    [gallery masonry="false" caption="false" columns="5" ids="1154,1153,1152,1151,1150"]

    Could this be fixed? I need captions 95% of all cases but in some situations I do not like to display them.

    Hello,
    For a specific footer widget column (column 2) I have two widgets in this column. The top one is custom text and the bottom is a photo gallery. There is a fairly large blank space between the two widgets. I want to compress or delete this extra padding so the column height is smaller and more proportional to the other columns of the footer widget.

    Is there custom css that can accomplish this? Site URL is regarding the “Featured gallery” in column 2.

    Originally when I used the home custom carousel it would rotate all 4 images (columns) at once. However, I just looked at my site and it’s only scrolling one image at a time now. Is there a way to change this back? I don’t think I changed any settings but I might’ve!

    Hi,
    Have you set featured images for each post? You can do this in the portfolio edit page. Do you also have Portfolio Full enabled in the Homepage Layout Manager (theme options > home layout)?
    Portfolio posts are set up to link to themselves, not products. You can display your products on the homepage by using a shortcode like this: [recent_products per_page="40" columns="4"] You would just paste that into a visual editor and text widget and in the home widget area.
