Ok well thats not really possible. The image is a background so can’t have a link. If you want to go that far then I would drop the css and add the image to the footer right in the code. Would require that you use a child theme and copy the templates/footer.php file into the child theme then edit it file to add the image with a link above the columns.
You can download a child theme here: https://www.kadencewp.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/virtue_premium_child.zip

Might be more then you want to do though? You ever used a child theme?

You would use the icon menu shortcode, and translate everything though the the home page content. Pagebuilder really makes this easy.

    https://www.kadencewp.com/creating-a-home-page-with-virtue/

    https://www.kadencewp.com/using-page-builder-virtue-premium/

so with the icon menu you just create columns in page builder then add the icon menu shortcode to each. Just click “virtue shortcodes”.

Hannah…thank you so much…fantastic! Just wondering now about Virtue: image menu item (widget) with pagebuilder. Could you tell me how to control your image sizes so they shrink down to about the same size as the images in the standard masonry grid (ie a grid that is not through the image menu item widget or pagebuilder)? Need to use fairly large images for the lightbox but my frames are cut off in the grid at the size I want for 3 columns.

    Thanks

Thank you Virtue for creating an easy to navigate theme.

I am having a problem with posting images of various sizes onto a page. I would like to have each image cropped in order to achieve even rows and columns.

This is the page I am referring to, you can see how the rows are uneven:

I even went to Pages -> Portfolio and made sure the “Crop images to equal height” was marked yes with no result. So, is this possible without having to resize all the images?

I have spent a few hours trying to re sizing each individual picture, although that is quite difficult with the images that are portrait oriented.

    Thank you in advance.

So I take it your using the boxed layout but you want the pagebuilder columns to extend to the edge. Can you post a link to your site, that would help as what your wanting will require some css.

    Thanks, Ben.
I’ve gone with the pagebuilder/column suggestion and it works reasonably well, but there’s still white space on the sides of the page. It’s functional for now though, so I’ll leave it as-is.
I’m also working on a sub page using pagebuilder. I’ve got two columns – one with an image, and one with text. I’d like the image to fill the entire space (half of the width of the screen) all the way to the edge of the screen. Essentially, I’d like it to look like what they have on nest.com. Any suggestions? I’ve tried all settings and nothing seems to work.

Ok so you can add products in woocommerce and give each product a category. The wordpress automatically creates a category page and you can link to in a menu. If you click on categories under products you will see a link to view.

As for setting the columns you can choose how many in the theme options > shop settings.

The sizes are set in the theme options > shop settings. You pick the columns (width) and the ratio of the crop (height).

Woocommerce automatically creates a “shop” page. You can select how many columns and if you want to use a sidebar in the theme options > shop settings.

Hey, You can use the carousel widget or a shortcode and show products by category in the carousel. Is that what you mean.

    Here is an example shortcode:

    [carousel type=cat-products columns=4 items=8 speed=9000 scroll=all cat="apples"]

    1. You can use a shortcode for portfolio posts. Here is an example just add to a text widget:
    [portfolio_posts orderby=date columns=3 items=8 lightbox=true showtypes=true]

    2. The pull quote shortcode shouldn’t be surrouned in h5 tag. Should look like this:

<h4 style=”font-weight: 400; color: #444444;”>Gorgeous commissions handmade transferring your images & sentiments onto clay tiles & wooden shapes.</h4>
    [pullquote align="center"]
<p>Why not treat yourself or have one made as a gift for someone special in your life.</p>
    [/pullquote]

    Hi Ben,

Hopefully my last two questions. Thanks so much for your help today

    1. Here’s my home page:
Is there some way I can have it so the images when clicked will take the user directly to the Portfolio page for that item. I was looking at the ‘associated page’ link but can’t figure out how this work and not sure it’s compatible with your theme.

    2. On this dummy home page I’ve setup

….. the content is built with Page Builder. One row with two columns. The left column has text in it and the right the gallery. However, in the left column I’ve put some of the words into a Virtue Pull quotes Shortode. When I do this the Gallery is moved to underneath the text part instead of next to it.

    Thanks squillions.

I’ve been trying to figure out why my footer doesn’t accommodate the description of a title in one single line. I already changed it to 2 columns but it still breaks the title “terms and conditions” in two lines. What am I missing here?

    #11224

Does this shed any more light on it? I’ve increased to 5 columns and still not right.

    You can use this shortcode: [product_categories number="12" parent="0" columns="3"]

Just add to the home page content.
    Here is an example: http://themes.kadencethemes.com/virtue-premium/product-categories-grid/

Tables are generally not responsive, any particular reason you are using one?

Why not use the columns shortcode native with the theme? Or page builder?
    Ben

    #10498

In the theme options > Home layout. There is an option for an “image menu”. You can enabled it in the home page layout manager. Then right below that you can add an image, link, title, description. In the “Home Image Menu” area.

You can also use a shortcode to create:
    [img_menu link=# columns=3 title="Icon Menu" description="The Icon Menu Description" height=200 image=AURLTOYOURIMAGE]

And there will be a widget for this in the next version.

The footer are uses columns so if you want a menu like the above link why not add to the credit area?
