In forum: Ascend ThemeTopic: Editing Categories
In Ascend Premium, Categories are not pages. When you create one it defaults to the classic editor and even though there seems to be a button for “Extra Shortcodes”, it does not allow me to enter anything when I press the button, i.e. nothing happens.
I assume you cannot use the block editor for Categories? I was wondering how to enter a brief table, a few rows and a few columns with a border. Or is there something newer or better for Ascend Premium under the Category option? Thanks. /Bob DeCloss

November 5, 2019 at 12:21 pm #239988Hey,
The items are setup in columns, it’s not about a gap or a margin, it’s not controlled by css. The columns are set in the carousel. You can override with some javascript in your head like this:<script type="text/javascript"> jQuery(document).ready(function ($) { $('.above-footer-widget .kadence_carousel_widget_output').attr('data-slider-xxl', '9'); }); </script>In forum: Virtue ThemeIn reply to: Virtue Premium: Blog page background
November 5, 2019 at 10:48 am #239975Hey,
With WordPress 5.3 (comes out in a few days) or by installing the Gutenberg plugin you will get a little better grid control when making columns But still the shortcode block is not very well designed to be nested. Perhaps I”ll see if WordPress core can update a fix for that.In your theme options,> misc settings turn off “smooth scroll” I think that maybe conflicting with something else and causing your scroll issue.

1. I’m only seeing 6 columns. There isn’t a built in option to increase this.
5. You would need to add a custom function into a child them if you want to change the tags. You can adjust the font with this css:
.above-footer-widgets .widget-title { font-size: 24px; line-height: 30px; font-family: sans-serif; }Hannah

November 1, 2019 at 5:24 pm #239832Hey,
When I look at your site I still can only see the css minified in your head.I suggest trying a different theme as a test since it seems likely that your theme would force two columns if anything is going to do that.

In forum: Virtue ThemeIn reply to: Customize the Product Page
Hey,
You can create a default page and add an image with a link (how you do this would be determined by the editor you’re working in). Then you can add your products to the page via shortcode like this:[products limit="8" columns="4" category="fans"]
Would this work for you?Hannah

October 31, 2019 at 4:27 pm #239805Your css is all minified so I can’t tell the source but this css is being added:
.woocommerce ul.products[class*=columns-] li.product,.woocommerce-page ul.products[class*=columns-] li.product { width: 48%; float: left; clear: both; margin: 0 0 2.992em }You would need to remove that, or fix it since it’s forcing 2 columns regardless of whats set.

October 31, 2019 at 1:55 pm #239798Hi Ben,
Thank you for your help. That CSS works great – thank you!
I have a related query though if I may – I have tried to increase the number of columns shown on the page from 2 to 4 (see screenshot). It shows as expected (i.e. 4-columns wide) if I preview the page within Elementor, however, even after purging my cache it continues to show 2 columns on the site in a fresh incognito tab.

Thanks

October 30, 2019 at 5:05 pm #239739Hey,
Thanks for posting, I think I would need to make a new block if I wanted to add inner blocks to the info box. What are you wanting to add in? Maybe that would be a better option.I am planning to add box-shadow to the columns I’ll get that in soon.

Editing on my iMac Pro is difficult. For some reason the row overlap and I can’t seem to get to the correct one. For example, on the Text page I changed the two horizontal rows with single row layouts. I then was able to insert a space divider. However now I can’t get between the first row and the second row. Notice on the screen shot the second single row is on top of the previous row when I try to edit it. The navigation is
row layout > single column (and some rows and columns)
row layout > six columns (with image overlays and other stuff)
However, notice that the second row lays on top of the first row and I can’t add a row below the first row or insert.
There should be some white space after the first row so I can see and edit or change the second row, but it lays on top of the background image. See the screen shots. This is on my iMac Pro.

Question on getting images to be responsive.
On my home page, where I’m using Pagebuilder. I have a SiteOrigin Hero widget with a background image. I have some text I place in the image and a button
see: *Login to see link
I am testing Blocks as well. And trying to mimic the page above. I created a test page with a single column row layout, inside which is a row layou with two horizontal columns. Inside the first horizontal column are two advanced heading blocks. Inside the second horizontal column is another advanced heading. I did this for spacing and I could not get the spacing to mach my SiteOrigin Hero. Maybe there is a better way as I can’t seem to control the spacing using blocks like I can with PageBuilder.
The problem is in both cases, PageBuilder and Blocks, the images don’t shrink when the page is made to an iPad or iPhone size. I read somewhere about doing something like “max-width:100%” for responsive images in css, but not sure how to do that in Blocks or PageBuilder. I had hoped it would not take custom css and would be automatic.
You still have login credentials and the test page is Test.
Oh, by the way, in an earlier post I had mentioned that the classic editor was going away in 2020. You said it wasn’t, but I found an article by wpbeginners, not sure if they are connected with WordPress or not that it was going away in 2022. Here is the link:
I also uploaded a bit of the content.
In forum: Ascend ThemeTopic: Bottom carousel height
Hi team,
I see this has come up before but I wondered if there is a solution now?I have a bottom carousel (“similar posts”) showing in a series of posts. I would like to reduce the height of the carousel, so that the images occupy less of the screen. Is there a css solution for this or is there some other way of achieving the requirement?
I have already set the maximum number of columns (6) in Blog Settings but the client finds the images are still too large.
Very many thanks,
Phil.In forum: Membership ForumsHi Ben,
I understand that you need elements to debug this problem. Unfortunately, our company does not allow us to provide our login details even though I am personally convinced that you are all very professional people at Kadence 😉!
For information, this product page uses a Template (Kadence Woo Template Builder 1.1.6). But anyway the error also appears with the default WC template.
Moreover, Kadence Blocks is not in question either, we do not use it on this page (and even with KB plugin disabled the error appears).By disabling “Product Gallery” (Kadence Woocommerce Extras 1.6.1), the problem disappears but it is logical considering the error…
Here are our Product Gallery settings:
- Choose a gallery type = Thumbnails Below Image
- Product image width = 400
- Product image ratio = Square 1:1
- Thumbnail columns visible = 5
- Product thumbnail image ratio = Square 1:1
- Slider transition = Slide
- Slider transition speed = 500
- Slider auto play = True
- Slider pause time = 12000
- Show slide arrows on product image = False
- Show Caption overlay on images = False
- Enable Product Image Hover Zoom = On
- Show image magnification = Magnify window is beside of image
Note that this error has no impact on the functioning of the page.
Do not hesitate if you need more information.
Thanks,
SylvainMy portfolio grid pages are set to three columns. If there are only three or fewer items displaying on the page, and thus only one row, a large white space is displaying at the bottom of the page below the footer (on desktop only, phone is fine).
If there are more than three items, and the grid has two rows instead of one, then there is no white space displaying below the footer.
How can I get rid of this white space on the pages with only one row? When I use the web inspector I am unable to select this white space to see what is causing it.
I will send links in a private reply.
In forum: Virtue ThemeTopic: Column cut off
Hello, I’m using a three column layout, and it looks great on desktop, but on mobile (where i’ve set it to collapse to three rows), the first column gets cut off by the second column. I’ve matched every setting for each of the columns and their associated info boxes, adjusted mobile settings and padding/margin, and I’ve rebuilt from scratch, but that first column keeps cutting off. If I remove that first column, it works fine. Any idea what this is happening? Link: *Login to see link

October 17, 2019 at 2:00 pm #239080Hey,
You can’t autoplay a video with sound, browsers will prevent it. The setting is telling the browser to autoplay but most browsers will prevent it some depending on the users preferences. In general, you should not expect a video to autoplay that has sound. There is nothing you can do about that because it’s controlled on the browser level.A video isn’t set with a max-width so “center” doesn’t really apply because it’s going to fill the container width.
For example, I just moved your video into a fullwidth column and you can see it filling the spacing.
If you prefer to not use columns and assign a max-width and assign that the video is centered in its container based on the max-width you can add a max-width setting to your video shortcode like this:
[kad_youtube url="https://youtu.be/_zi6udD6Ts8" maxwidth="600"]Then you must go add css to force it center in your theme options > custom css:
.kad-youtube-shortcode { margin:0 auto; }I hope that helps,
Ben

Hey John,
The virtue gallery widget will get you a similar look. Just choose carousel as the gallery type and set the number of columns to one. Another option is the advanced gallery block within Kadence Blocks. See here: https://www.kadenceblocks.com/custom-blocks/advanced-gallery/
Hope that’s helpful!Hannah

October 14, 2019 at 4:53 pm #238931These questions about your forms are not related to the theme at all. I strongly suggest asking the form plugin developer. They will know how the css works in their plugin and be able to consistently give you css that doesn’t have other negative effects.
my updated suggestion it this, but again you should talk with the plugin developer.
