    Ben:

    Thanks for the response. I’ve tried adding different parameters to the [deal_products] (ignitewoo) shortcode, such as, columns=”1″, “2”, “3” or columns=”4″and even inline=”true”or “false”. The resulting narrow display doesn’t change. Keep in mind, I get the same odd display result from the Woocommerce shortcode of [Products].

    {wait a sec}… Based on what you’ve provided, I ran a test using only the Woocommerce shortcode of [Products] adding the parameters columns=”1″ and ids=”xxx” to display the sale items that the Hot deals plugin chooses. This works, there is no duplication of categories and formatting is what I needed. This tells me it’s more of a IgniteWoo issue than it is with the Kadence theme.

    I may just go ahead and manually use this approach until Ignitewoo’s support gets back to me on this problem.

    Thanks for the help Ben,

    Kenet

    Hey,
    When I look at your site under “Latest posts” your output is showing mosaic style.

    Please change to grid, and columns to 2 then post back 🙂

    #238901

    When you add a shortcode are you defining the columns as 2 or 1? If you don’t define them in the shortcode then woocommerce will use the default. A shortcode isn’t “aware” of where it’s being rendered in such a way that it would change defaults if placed in a sidebar.

    I don’t know the Woocommerce Hot Deals Pro plugin, can you send me a login to your site so I can see your settings?

    Hey,
    There isn’t an option for that inside the widget, you can do that through a shortcode

    [carousel type="product" items="10" columns="4" sscol="2" cat="cat-slug"]

    To try and answer your question of what happens when I try to insert a row block, here is what I do. First, I select the row layout from the navigation menu, so I think I am in the correct spot. When I try to add a row layout block inside an existing row layout with content, for example near the bottom of the row layout, I momentarily see a blue circle with a + symbol inside it. As soon as I move the cursor closer to the circle it turns black. When I hit the plus symbol and select “row layout” from the menu options, it adds the row below the existing row, not inside the existing row. I’ll try and send you login credentials soon.

    But here is information on having bad margins when I review the text in “iPad” view. I was logged into my WP account on my iPad. I loaded up the “page” I’m working on and it was bonkers in the edit mode. I could not make sense of it at all. The image background was a small rectangle and text was running up and down, beyond the borders of the image, clear into other regions and some of the text was white on a white background. Very confusing. It looks nothing like my desktop when I shrink down the window to the size of an iPad.

    Also I notice margins don’t seem to be correct. On the “page” I am editing I have two copies of what I want. So I have two major row layout blocks. The first is the correct version I want based on what Ben told me to do:
    row
    -> single column
    ->> title
    ->> paragraph (I added this)
    ->> row
    ->>> double column

    Below that main row above, is a second row with two columns. The texts are similar, I just could not get row – double col moved inside a row – single col. So I added the stuff from scratch (no content at first) and was able to match Ben’s layout. It became the first row layout.

    Once the rows and cols had content, no matter where I put my cursor, I could not find a place to insert a row inside another row. This is where I was having trouble: inserting a row or rather having it inserted inside a row. So I started from scratch. However, when I look at the preview and shrink down the images to be about the size of an iPhone or iPad the formatting is all messed up. The “second” row which has two columns seems to have its margins correct. A little bit of an indent on the left and a little bit of an indent on the right and the image following the text. But the first row, which has a single col >> title >> row >>> double col (as Ben suggested I do) has margin on the left, but no margin on the right and is even missing some words. You’ll probably need my login credentials to see that too.

    I’ve uploaded some screenshots of what I mean:

    This is the first row layout block with bad margins, but Ben’s layout. It is the upper portion of text.

    first-row-layout-block

    Here is a lower portion of text from the first row layout block. See how the image is not centered and text is missing from right edge.

    first-row-layout-block-lower

    Here is the second row layout block with the same text. However it is simply a two column row layout block.

    second-row-layout-block-margins-correct

    Here is a little bit lower of that same block. The image seems to center nicely.

    If I give you my login credentials, do I first hit the button “Set as private reply”?

    Unfortunately there isn’t a built-in function to remove the three dots. Not without adding a custom function into a child theme.
    Your entire image is clickable, the only part that is not is the area just around the excerpt. Because your excerpt takes up almost the entire image it’s hard to notice this. If you decrease the number of columns it will increase the portfolio image size allowing for more clickable space outside of the text.

    Hi, did what you suggested yesterday re the columns. Missed your comment re the header area in Virtue (duh!). Thanks again.

    From scratch, I was able to do that. But once I have a row layout with a single column, I can’t seem to insert a row layout inside of that with a double column or insert at the beginning of a row layout with 2 columns.

    How do you edit the blocks so you can insert blocks inside of other blocks? In particular row layout blocks? And copy blocks into other blocks that already have data in them?

    So, for example, I already have a row layout with 2 columns, with all my text in paragraphs and an image. But how do I “move” this 2 column layout inside a single column layout so I can add the title at the beginning?

    Or how can I put a single layout block “on top” of the double column layout block so it has the structure you mentioned? Is it not possible to edit blocks that way? Or do you have to have the layout designed ahead of time and only add “empty” blocks and then fill them in with content?

    Suppose you build some content and then decide you don’t like it, can’t you edit and/or combine blocks somehow, so you don’t have to re-do all the content?

    Hey,
    I wasn’t talking about Kadence Widgets, I was referring to Kadence Blocks and the post/grid carousel block which you can use inside the WordPress (Gutenberg) block editor.

    In terms of using the virtue theme my response above “There isn’t an option in virtue to have logo menu widget.” means there isn’t an option to do that kind of header. You can create a custom one if you like and want to code it.

    I think your best bet is to change your latest posts to grid, and columns to 2 and then post back.

    I think I am misunderstanding, You should be adding one row, placing your title and all other row/columns inside that row. Meaning

    row
    -> single column
    ->> title
    ->> row
    ->>> double column

    Is that not what you are doing?

    You should only be adding a background image to the first main row.

    #238665

    Hey,
    Can you change your latest posts to grid, and columns to 2 and then post back. I can give you css that will make the image site bside the text.

    Also you can use the Kadence Blocks post/grid widget to create this in your page, doesn’t have to come through the theme options.

    There isn’t an option in virtue to have logo menu widget.

    Once you add a single column “row layout” block, can you insert a single column “row layout” block and follow that by an inserted 2 column row layout block. The problem I’m having is with the background image. I want a background image to be behind the entire layout. I have a title, which is in a single column layout block followed by a two column row layout block, in which I have paragraphs on one side and an image on the other side. I can put my background image behind the two columns, but it does not carry across the single column above it. I’m not explaining it well, so I created an image. The larger row layout is where I want the background image, then it should carry over to the other row layouts. But I can’t seem to insert as I’d like. (BTW: It seems very difficult to navigate the block layout. I have a hard time finding out where I am. Only some of the layout shows up, not the entire layout, in particular only one row layout shows up and not all of them.) I digress…

    What I would like:

    What I currently have:

    Screenshot of above, see how the background image does not carry across, I changed to opacity so it was more obvious.

    Does that make any sense? Thanks. /Bob

    Hi
    I got I got it to work thanks for your help, I changed a couple of things including your notes and the working solution is `//show sub total in order page

    add_filter( ‘woocommerce_account_orders_columns’, ‘add_account_orders_column’, 10, 1 );

    function add_account_orders_column( $columns ){

    $columns[‘item_subtotal_tax_excl’] = __( ‘New Column’, ‘woocommerce’ );

    return $columns;

    }

    add_action( ‘woocommerce_my_account_my_orders_column_item_subtotal_tax_excl’, ‘add_account_orders_column_rows’ );

    function add_account_orders_column_rows( $order ) {

    // Example with a custom field

    if ( $value = $order->get_subtotal() ) {

    echo esc_html( $value );

    }
    }`

    #238636

    Hi Thank for the reply Ben, I have adjusted the code to :

    //show sub total in order page

    add_filter( 'woocommerce_account_orders_columns', 'add_account_orders_column', 10, 1 );

    function add_account_orders_column( $columns ){

    $columns['item_subtotal_tax_excl'] = __( 'New Column', 'woocommerce' );

    return $columns;

    }

    add_action( 'woocommerce_my_account_my_orders_column_item_subtotal_tax_excl', 'add_account_orders_column_rows' );

    function add_account_orders_column_rows( $order ) {

    // Example with a custom field

    if ( $value = $order->get_meta( 'item_subtotal_tax_excl' ) ) {

    echo esc_html( $value );

    }
    }

    but still the same results, am i missing something or doing it wrong. Your help is highly appreciated.

    Hey,
    You can create this look in Ascend by enabling Latest Blog Posts in the homepage layout manager from Theme Options > Home Page Layout. Then open the Module Latest Posts and you can choose how many posts to show and how many columns.
    Hope that helps!

    Hi

    I have tried adding a “sub total” column into my-account/order with the following code :

    //show sub total in order page

    add_filter( 'woocommerce_account_orders_columns', 'add_account_orders_column', 10, 1 );

    function add_account_orders_column( $columns ){

    $columns['item_subtotal_tax_excl'] = __( 'New Column', 'woocommerce' );

    return $columns;

    }

    add_action( 'woocommerce_my_account_my_orders_column_custom-column', 'add_account_orders_column_rows' );

    function add_account_orders_column_rows( $order ) {

    // Example with a custom field

    if ( $value = $order->get_meta( 'item_subtotal_tax_excl' ) ) {

    echo esc_html( $value );

    }

    }

    it adds the column but not the sub total, any ideas as to why?

    #238374

    You need to change the shortcode:

    [blog_grid columns="1" items="20" orderby="date" cat="ian-blog"]

    That should output what you want.

    #238357

    Hi

    I’ve setup a shortcode to display posts as one column (Header & text descriptions only):

    [blog_posts orderby=date items=20 word_count=30 columns=1 fullpost=false cat=ian-blog]

    Individual posts head content set at “None”
    Post summary set at “Text”

    Page set at fullwidth

    Site settings: Show Summary
    No page has been set for the blog page

    On the page in question, the posts are still showing in a grid with the head content image (Featured image)

    can you assist?

    #238105

    Almost there. It’s still not looking like the columns are centered. “Follow Us” seems a bit to the left. Any ideas on how to fix? I added the CSS you listed earlier.
    thanks!
