I’m using Tabs within the Block editor, prototyping a WordPress based version for a site (at systalk.org/foodworx). The same material is presented two different ways – in 4 columns, and on 4 tabs. All 4 tabs are set to Wide width, Left justify. That’s how the material appears on my PC. When I look at the same page with my tablet, the first paragraph on two of the tabs (Bakery, Awake) is centered rather than left justified. The first paragraph on the other two tabs (Basic, Family) is left justified. The centering occurs on my tablet in both landscape (picture and text then show up side by side) and portrait (picture above text) orientations. The first thing on each tab is a Title. They’re set Left Justified. That’s how they show up on a PC, They ALL show up centered on my tablet.

I haven’t gone back and re-tested, but I believe when I tried using Full width on these tabs, the text and/or picture would flow outside the boundaries of the tab. Seemed to be worse when I put a picture on the right-hand side.

    Hello,

One option would be to use a row layout block with 6 columns, then add a single button with the list below in each column. Give that a try and let me know if it works for you.

Try adding it with the quotes like this:
    [gallery columns="4" size="full" type="carousel" masonry="false" ids="1171,1172,1173,1174,1175,1176" link="file" caption="default" width="" height="" autoplay="false"]

    Does that work for you?

Yes thanks Kevin that worked for the carousel shortcode.

How can this be achieved using the gallery shortcode with type=carousel?

    eg.
    [gallery columns="4" size="full" type="carousel" masonry="false" ids="1171,1172,1173,1174,1175,1176" link="file" caption="default" width="" height="" autoplay=false]

The autoplay=false did not work in this case.

Thanks, that solved the problem with uneven columns but the text in two columns still do not align as I want them to. Please see image below. My resolution on the PC-screen is 1920×1080.

    Screenshot columns & infoboxes

(When I test the page on an old Ipad Mini on an upright screen the columns looks strange, but I guess there aren’t so many of those devices still around.)

The ascend recent posts widget is designed to have a max width of 420px. This is because of the size of the image output. It’s truly designed to be a sidebar or smaller column widget. You can use this css to force the max width change:

    .kadence_recent_posts {
        max-width: 100%;
    }

I suggest if you are wanting huge columns to be filled with posts to consider using a shortcode to output the posts. Or the Kadence Blocks Pro – Post Grid/Carousel block.

    Hi Hannah,

Many thanks you for getting back to me.

The gutter is at the default setting (30px) …hence the confusion at my end! It’s as if the row is fixed to accomodate three columns even though only two are present, producing a huge space between them!

    Andrew.

    Good morning Kadence,

Please forgive me if I’ve missed something obvious but I’m struggling to adjust the spacing between my recent blog posts on a site I’m working on:

When I opt for three columns, it all looks great and evenly spaced, however when opting for just two columns the ‘gutter’ between the columns is excessive, as if it’s still allowing for a minimum of three columns. I have tried various css workarounds without success.

All I am trying to achieve is two recent blog posts columns which match the overall width of the other columns / panels on the page.

I’d be really grateful of any guidance of how to achieve this.

    Many thanks,

    Andrew.

Great, thanks! Works perfect for desktop!

On desktop it is 3 rows with 2 columns, that is perfect.
In mobile view they are in 6 rows with 1 column. Is there a way to make it look the same on mobile as on the desktop, so 3 rows and 2 columns?

If this is not possible can I at least make the color following of the buttons on mobile to “green, blue, green, blue, green, blue” in stead of green, blue, blue, green, green, blue?

I think a good option would be to create the layout you want in page builder, and then add the buttons to their own separate columns.

So it would be 3 page builder rows that are 2 columns each, with one button in each column. Then you can adjust the spacing of them based on the page builder settings.

Let me know if that works for you!

Thanks for the quick response. This is a decent temporary fix, but does not do exactly as I was hoping nor what I had working originally. I understand what you’re talking about where the static page in Settings will cause the page template to override what I have set as the page template directly in the edit page screen. However, the blog posts were displaying originally and I don’t understand what changed that made it stop working.

I had originally had the homepage set as a static page with a page created using the blog grid page template. It displayed the posts in a column of 3 and it was the image on top with excerpt text below and staggered height (Pinterest-style). It would display all the blog posts, not just the max of 8 with the latest blog posts module (also this module only allows a max of 2 columns) you’re referring to.

If I were to create a page template for the home page “page-home.php” (in this case the page is called “Home” with slug of “home”) and copy the code from “page-blog-grid.php” into it that should override the default home page template, right? Will it use the settings from the Theme Options->Blog Options screen?

    Hey Susan,
It sounds like the simplest solution would just be to add a row with two columns, then add whichever blocks you would like to either side. Would that work for you?

    Hello,

How exactly are you adding the buttons? You should be able to add them to columns in a page builder or the block editor to have more control over the exact look.

Please include a link to your page with each support request so we can see how things are setup.

    Thanks!

    Hey,
Because your site width is set to max 1770 the grid items have extra columns as you get wider and wider screen sizes.

Here is what I suggest you do set the project to “none” and then in the content area add a gallery block and set the column to 2 there. That would be the quickest and easiest.

    Hi,

I would like to have a portfolio item with two images side by side as content. Under Portfolio Options in the editor I chose Project Layout->Above, Project Options->Grid, Columns->2 and added a gallery with two images (each 1201x1592px).

When viewing the post the images are cropped. I would like them to have original image ratio (no fixed height). How could I achieve this? I’ll post an example below.

I’m sorry if I missed any obvious setting!

I also tried to play around with Ben’s reply to this post:

But having had a quick look at gallery.php (and content-single-portfolio-project.php where the shortcode seems to be called from) I can’t figure out where the crop comes to start with.

    With best regards,

    Veikko

The new visual editor is so confusing. I can’t find an option to change the permalink. Most “Add block” icons are invisible. I have to hover the mouse to find it. I added “columns” block and my page looked terrible.

Now I have to install the page builder plugin or switch to code editor.

    Hi Hannah,
I tried it both ways and i can’t get it to four columns – it only will give me three?
Now what – is there another way
Thank you so much for the help and ideas

You can set the number of columns from Theme Options > Portfolio Options > Portfolio Archive Pages > “Choose how many portfolio columns to show on portfolio archive pages”. You can also override this from your portfolio edit page under Portfolio Options. You should see a Columns dropdown. Do you see that?
