    I just updated my site ( mikeschaffnerphotography.com from 1.1.42 to 1.1.43 I do use a child-theme. All I got when trying to go to the site was a blank page. This was true on multiple browsers. I checked it on a “is it down” site and it said it was down and returned a 404 error. I on current version of WP and all plugins.

    I did a rollback to 1.1.42 and it immediately worked as expected.

    Is there something I should have been doing differently?

    Thanks for your help.

    I’m currently developing a child theme based on Kadence. I know I can switch the post-navigation and entry-related sections off in the customiser, but I want to completely disable both sections in my child theme, so there’s no danger of another user accidentally turning them back on (basing this request on experience!). I couldn’t find anything in the documentation about this. How would I go about doing it?

    Hi There,

    Once you have activated the child theme and imported all settings to the child theme. You can just update the parent Kadence Theme.

    It will not break anything.

    I hope this helps. Let us know if we can assist you further.

    Hi Kadence team/theme!

    It seems that all my ‘theme options’ pages are blank … I tried disabling all plugins, switched to the main (not child) theme, to see if a conflict was there, but no success.
    Any thoughts? Can make a temporary login if you want.

    I have an existing website and recently changed to the Kadence theme. I’ve spent the past week setting everything up, and it looks great. Thanks.

    Today, I installed the Kadence-Child theme. First, I exported my custom settings, then imported my settings back again after installing the Child theme.
    So far, so good. Now running the Kadence-Child theme.

    My question is that some time in the future there will be an update for the Kadence theme. How should I proceed with that?
    1. Export settings > Update Kadence > Import settings.
    2. Just update Kadence.
    3. Something else?

    Hello…

    Using a Virtue Premium child theme, I cannot find a way to disable the default “Back to Top” arrow that appears on the bottom right of each page—but not at all in any mobile browsers (Chrome, Safari).

    Because the “Back to Top” button does not appear on mobile devices, I’ve installed a nice plug-in (WPFront Scroll Top) that does the job. However, now BOTH buttons appear in desktop browsers, but only the plug-in’s button appears on mobile devices.

    How can I disable the default button, so that only the plug-in version appear in both places, since that is the one that works on both desktop and mobile?

    I have seen CSS code provided in this forum (8+ years ago!) that changes the appearance of that default button, but my attempt at using that like this:

    #topcontrol .to_the_top>div {
    display: none !important;
    }

    …does not work. I’d like to keep the blue arrow (plug-in version) and remove/disable the gray square arrow (default).

    The website’s URL:

    Please help! Thanks… ~n

    Hi Community,

    I’m interested in using the Kadence real estate starter theme to use for my existing site at I currently use a Genesis child theme and like the look and feel of Kadence real estate theme but having a hard time finding how to see the real estate listing pages on the demo site.

    Can someone provide a link that shows the actual real estate listing page for this theme.

    #285074

    Thank you for your answers. I found the “bug”: there was a theme.json file placed in the folder of the child theme. Taking over a WordPress installation from another developer can always lead to unexpected surprises.

    Hey Michal,
    The latest update to the Kadence Theme cleans up the social CSS output to narrow down what needs to be output. Just for reference, there are three places where the social icons can be added (header, mobile header and footer), and in each, the social modal can have brand colors selected. Either way that should be resolved with the latest update.

    As for getting access, I can’t get to your admin page. Apparently, USA is a blocked country. Can you add it or tell me which country has access and I can VPN in.

    There is nothing about the child theme mods that you posted that is concerning to me. I think something else is causing an issue and I’m happy to look into it.

    I’m writing a child theme from scratch, using Kadence as the parent. I’d like to completely dequeue all of the parent styles in my child, then selectively re-import just the source scss that I want from Kadence, in my child’s scss. I’ve done something similar with other themes in the past, using wp_dequeue_style, but Kadence styles don’t appear to be enqueued using wp_enqueue_style, meaning I can’t get that to work with Kadence.

    How do I go about doing that?

    Hi There,

    [carousel under the header]
    With Kadence Pro, you can create a Hooked element to create a carousel.

    • Enable Hooked elements from Appearance > Kadence. Check the screenshot: https://share.getcloudapp.com/7KuzmN4b
    • Goto Appearance > Kadence > Elements > create a new element
    • You will see a pop-up to select Element Setup > Content Section. Check the screenshot: https://share.getcloudapp.com/YEuepbl9
    • Select a row layout and personalize the design to suit your requirements.
    • Select Element Settings from the right top icons.
    • Set Placement: After Header.
    • Show On: Entire site or Single Product.

    [How can I change this image in the title bar]

    • customizer > Posts/Pages Layout > Archive Layout > Enable Show Archive Title > Select design tab > Archive Title Background
    • Check the screen recording: https://share.getcloudapp.com/7KuWkJpp

    [On my homepage, I would like to have a carousel]
    If you are using Kadence Blocks Pro, then you can use the Advanced Slider block to create a carousel on the homepage. https://www.kadencewp.com/kadence-blocks/pro/advanced-slider/

    [I’d rather have the search bar directly in my header. Is this possible?]

    You can add a search bar in the header from customizer > Header > Search bar(Drag and Drop in your header)

    The Search Bar item is only available in the header for users with the Kadence Pro plugin installed and activated on their website.

    Check the screen recording: https://share.getcloudapp.com/2Nup7xpQ

    [filter for my shop page]
    You can use a Sidebar on your Shop Archives. You can customize the Sidebar by going to your Appearance > Menus. WooCommerce comes with filter blocks that can be used on your Sidebar. For example, the Filter: Product By Price block.

    Once you have customized and saved your Sidebar, you can go to your Customizer > WooCommerce > Product Catalog. You can select an Archive Layout with a Sidebar under the Archive Layout options.

    Here is a video for reference: https://share.getcloudapp.com/YEuD9YzJ

    You can also consider using the Catalog Off Canvas Widget. You can go to your Appearance > Widget and add your filters to the Catalog Off Canvas Widget. Then you can go to your Customizer > WooCommerce > Product Catalog. You will see the Off-Canvas Sidebar settings. You can enable the option to Add Off Canvas Widget Area. This will allow you to set a Toggle Icon and Label. The Toggle Icon and Label will appear above your Shop Items. Once you press the Toggle Icon, the Catalog Off Canvas Widget will slide out.
    Here is a video for reference: https://share.getcloudapp.com/JruyJBLX

    [On my product detail page: I have cross/upsell products, but can I turn it into a carousel, so I can show more items?]
    Currently, there is no option to turn the cross/upsell section into a carousel. Kadence offers a carousel for the related products section.

    [Currently I am using the mega menu, and it opens on hover. Can I let it open on click instead?]
    You can do this using Custom CSS and Custom Code.

    You can add Custom CSS in your Customizer> Additional CSS. https://www.kadencewp.com/kadence-theme/knowledge-base/general/how-do-i-add-custom-css/

    Here is the Custom CSS:

    .header-menu-container ul.menu>li.menu-item-has-children>ul.sub-menu,
    .header-menu-container ul.menu>li.menu-item-has-children>ul.sub-menu * {
     visibility: hidden !important;
     transition: none;
    }

    .header-menu-container ul.menu>li.menu-item-has-children>ul.sub-menu.clicked {
        visibility: visible !important;
        opacity: 1 !important;
        clip: auto !important;
        height: auto !important;
        overflow: visible !important;
    }

    .header-menu-container ul.menu>li.menu-item-has-children>ul.sub-menu.clicked * {
     visibility: visible !important;
    }

    .header-menu-container ul.menu>li.menu-item-has-children.menu-item-object-custom>ul.sub-menu.clicked {
     display: block;
    }

    You can add this code using the Code Snippets plugin: https://www.kadencewp.com/kadence-theme/knowledge-base/advanced/how-to-add-a-custom-filter-or-function-with-code-snippets/

    Here is the Custom Code:

    add_action('wp_footer', function(){
     ?>
    <script>
    const megaMenu = document.querySelectorAll('.kadence-menu-mega-enabled > a');
    const subMenu = document.querySelectorAll('.kadence-menu-mega-enabled > .sub-menu');
    const siteNavigation = document.getElementById('site-navigation');

    megaMenu.forEach( function(menu){
     menu.addEventListener('click', function(e){
     e.preventDefault();
     if ( menu.parentElement.querySelector('.sub-menu').classList.contains('clicked') ) {
     subMenu.forEach( function(submenu){
     submenu.classList.remove('clicked');
     });
     } else {
     subMenu.forEach( function(submenu){
     submenu.classList.remove('clicked');
     });
     menu.parentElement.querySelector('.sub-menu').classList.add('clicked');
     }
     });
    });

    document.addEventListener('click', function(event) {
        let isClickInsideElement = siteNavigation.contains(event.target);
        if (!isClickInsideElement) {
            subMenu.forEach( function(submenu){
     submenu.classList.remove('clicked');
     });
        }
    });
    </script>
    <?php
    },99);

    I hope this information was helpful to you. Please let me know if this works for you.

    Best Regards,
    Archita

    Hi Christiano,

    hCard and hAtom schemas are coming from the author and tags section, respectively. Currently, at this time, there is no built-in option or custom code available to achieve this.

    However, if you’d like to submit a feature request for this, you can do so here: https://www.kadencewp.com/kadence-theme/feature-requests/. Please note that we cannot provide an exact timeline for when this feature will be added, as there are various factors that the development team needs to consider before implementing new features.

    In the meantime, if you’d like to remove the hCard schema, you can achieve this by using a child theme and overriding certain files. You’ll need to copy the following files to your child theme and remove the class “vcard”:

    template-parts\content\entry_author.php
    template-parts\content\entry_loop_meta.php
    template-parts\content\entry_meta.php
    template-parts\title\meta.php

    Similarly, to remove the hAtom schema, copy the following file and remove the rel=”tag” from it:

    template-parts\content\entry_tags.php

    If you’re having difficulty with this, you may want to consider hiring a developer to help you with the task. You can find one in websites such as Upwork, Freelancer, and Codeable, and/or on WordPress/Kadence Facebook Groups.

    Hope this points you in the right direction.

    Let us know if we can assist you further.

    Hi Teejay,

    Got it, thanks – activated, the Import/Export option now appears and was able to export the .dat file. Moving on with setting up my child theme next.

    Appreciate your help with this and my only suggestion would be to include the info in your blog posts about child themes, that the Starter Templates need to me installed for the Import/Export item to be available. I’d read through 2 or 3 posts on how to create child themes and this detail isn’t mentioned.

    Thanks again for your help!
    Sara

    Hi,
    Thanks for the answer! In the meantime, this is not done, is it possible to manage “prefers-reduced-motion” somehow now? For example, with additional js code in a child theme?

    #284728

    Hi there,

    I need to create a child theme after I’ve already worked a good bit on a client’s site. I’ve read your tutorial on how to install a child theme this far in but when I go to my customizer, there’s no option to export/import anywhere. Has it moved? Or under one of the options in the sidebar? Adding a screenshot to hopefully help.

    Thanks!

    Hi, Dana!

    Could you re-activate the temporary login link you sent us before so we can check your child theme?

    Also, have you purged/flushed all cache enabled on your website? If not yet, try to do that, and let’s see if the code will take effect properly.

    Let us know how it goes.

    Kind regards,
    Karla

    I don’t have a developer, I’m it, I can’t remember how the child theme was set up (likely from help years ago in this forum). I guess I’ll just have to wait, I really hate having multiple plugins that do one tiny thing and that’s it.

    Hi, Dana!

    The code snippet is PHP so you cannot add it via the Custom CSS box.

    Since you’re already using a child theme, add the code snippet inside your child theme’s functions.php file.

    If you aren’t familiar with editing the files, you may want to reach out to the creator of the child theme (I assume it’s your developer). They can add the code safely to your theme file.

    Currently, I still do not have the estimated date for when the fix will be available.

    I hope this helps, and let us know if we can help you further.

    Kind regards,
    Karla
