In reply to: Sidebar alignment on fron page
May 7, 2014 at 12:15 am #8549Hey,
So this can’t really be done like that. Atleast it’s not a built in option. If you mark a sidebar on the home page then it adds it right after the slider.
What you can do to create the effect is to set the page as full width in the theme options, then use you “page content”. Enable it right after the carousel then disabled your blog posts. Then go to edit your pages, edit your home page and use the page builder. Create a two column row, make the right column 30 percent then in the left column add a text widget with this in it:
[blog_posts columns=2 items=4]And add your sidebar widgets to the right column,

In forum: Virtue ThemeTopic: home page picture layout
on the body of my home page i want to have a grid (or mosaic) of pictures, each with a caption visible, that is the title of another page on the website. It’s like a visual menu in the body. Ideally, i would have 5 pictures each with a title or caption (i.e. “shopping” “News” , etc.) and a hyper link to the referenced page.
I just purchased the premium Virtue theme, and can’t figure out how to do this. THe widgets i tried dont show the caption or title, and go to a lightbox when clicked. Can someone help me with this?
thanks

Thank you for your response. My confusion about the Home page, I guess. I’ve seen other themes that advertise different page design oons and one always had access to those examples.
I have looked through everything you mentioned above and I probably have too many options, which make decisions difficult….smile.
A couple of questions: Regarding the homepage: under “theme options” then “home layout” there is an area where you pick what will be included on the page bu moving the item from one column to the next. There is a choice called images menu, what is that? In your examples you refer to sliders using generic terms and here you are more specific (brand) which are the “image slider not carousel” A little confusing the switching from brand to generic, depending on were one reads.
Question 2: I assume that all images ought to be the same size within a particular slider at a specific location…but the same slider, could have a different group of images, at a different location, and are sized differently. Correct? (Did that made sense) This is a matter of good design rather than technical issues…of course both are possible.
Thanks for the offer to help with content. I will see how things go…I hate to waste money but this may not be the theme i end up using. I am thinking about how to use the product sections to suite my non-commercial needs. They could work very well…featured artist rather than featured shirt.
In forum: Virtue ThemeHi Ben et al,
I am trying to figure out (with no success yet) how to align the sidebar with the blog posts and not with the carrousel as it is by default. Could you help me please. I would like to have a full-width slider and carrousel on the front-page plus blog posts and sidebar on the bottom part of it.
Thanks.

IvayloIn forum: Virtue ThemeHi Ben,
Is it possible to change the style of the title “Featured Products” on the homepage without affecting the style of other headings on the site (i suspect this title is an H3 heading which is also used for Filter by and Recently Viewed Products in the sidebar.

In forum: Virtue ThemeHi Ben,
I need to customize the widget area items on the individual product page, for example,
Right now i have there a column which contains “Schedule Item Pickup” and “Recently Viewed Items”.
I need to do the following:
1) Move the entire column approx 30 px to the right
2) Change the font size and the colour of the links under “Recently Viewed Products”
3) Change the font size and the colour of the prices under “Recently Viewed Products” links (please note that i need the links and prices to have different style so need CSS for both)
4) Put a border around the entire widget “Recently Viewed Product”In forum: Virtue ThemeIn reply to: change button colors
May 6, 2014 at 7:32 am #8514You can use the primary color options in the basic styling settings if you want to edit the core buttons, then any that you add in a page you can just make a different color.
As for the view cart, add this, that will put it over the image.
.shopcolumn1 a.added_to_cart { right:auto left: 10%; text-align: center; }In forum: Virtue ThemeIn reply to: change button colors
In case you want to see what I mean, here is the link to the shop page.

Thanks Ben, I made them orange instead of red. The red was too harsh. It would be great to have a way to play with these colors more easily; I’m trying to look like Amazon. 🙂
I have one other problem that came up as I was checking the color changes.
When I have a shop page product that has (add to cart) by it on the shop page. If I click the (add to cart) button while on the shop page, a (view cart) option shows up that is barely readable because it is on top of my product discriptions.
Is there anything I can do about this without having to play with the descriptions?
Thank you for your help.

May 6, 2014 at 6:59 am #8505Hey,
So theses support forms are for premium users only. (I’m a little unsure how you got an account if your using free.) but for free support use the forms here: http://wordpress.org/support/theme/virtueI will answer your question though. You need to edit virtue/templates/home/blog-home.php line 18:
change this:
'posts_per_page' => $blogcount,to this:
'posts_per_page' => '12',and that will give you 12 posts.

In forum: Virtue ThemeIn reply to: Homepage layout – separating the sections
May 6, 2014 at 6:51 am #8503You can use the page builder and style your rows. In the last update I added the ability to add image parallax backgrounds too. The video shows a little bit of it here: https://www.kadencewp.com/using-page-builder-virtue-premium/
What this means it that you would switch some of your home layout to the page content. You can use shortcodes for icon menu as an example.
If you click on a new page and in the page builder use the preset template “example page” that will help explain.
Of course you can still use css to do it just need to post the link and tell me which colors and I can help with that.Ben

May 6, 2014 at 6:44 am #8499Hey,
1. Sticky header. In the theme options main settings, bottom of page turn the sticky header on, that will keep your menu at the top.2. The slider for full width slides is the revolution slider. You have to use the plugin to build the slider then set that in the theme options slider settings.

In forum: Virtue ThemeHi Ben,
I would like to seperate the sections of my home page more clearly. I have got an icon menu, some content, a custom carousel, the latest blog post and maybe some testimonials on my homepage and would like to seperate these segments.
The idea I would prefer is to give them different background colours. I’m not sure if this is possible with some css? Or maybe it’s an idea for the next update? Alternatively I would like to use some kind of line … but more apparently than the “normal” [hr] – divider.Any suggestions for that?
Thanks!
In forum: Virtue ThemeI’m using Virtue theme (not Premium) and would like to show more than 8 posts on the Home page. Under Theme Options- Home Layout – Home Blog Settings, the maximum value is 8 but we’d like to show ten or more. What’s the best way of changing this? Happy to edit theme files if that’s best? or update to Premium theme if that will do it. Please can you advise. Thanks.
In forum: Virtue ThemeTopic: Navigation bar won't follow
Hi this is my page http://www.derekywsblog.com
I have difficulties in making the primary navigation bar follow as I scroll down the page.
I also don’t know how can I make my main image slider on my front page take up the total width of the page. I tried changing the site layout style but it didn’t have any effect on the page.
Thanks. In forum: Virtue ThemeIn reply to: Linked images or buttons on mobile
May 5, 2014 at 10:03 pm #8488So this is funny and a little hard to explain the the image actually isn’t larger, it’s just blurring because it’s a retina screen. The reason it looks so strange is because all your text is in images and the images are set to stay contained inside the page so since they are wider then a phone layout they shrink to fit but the button doesn’t shrink because it’s not wider then the layout.
So you can see this just grab your screen and resize it to a small size, you will see that the button next actually gets larger just looks that way because the text gets smaller. The buttons in the slider are different they are shrunk down because the slider add a shrinking to every element.
Now that I’ve explained that why are you putting all your text in images? why not use text?

In forum: Virtue ThemeHey Ben,
I am noticing that when I insert and img or button and try to link out to another page from it, the item does not scale down on the mobile view. For instance a 93px X 41px img will appear very disproportionately large on the mobile view but correct on the desktop. Please let me know…thanks. In forum: Virtue ThemeIn reply to: Adding pages to footer column
May 5, 2014 at 9:01 am #8463You mean a menu to link to pages? Or just text?
You can use the wordpress custom menu widget in a footer widget area.
