August 30, 2014 at 12:54 pm #16257In the theme options > misc settings. Scroll down to the gallery section and turn off masonry style by default.
Also fyi the page attributes of “portfolio grid” will do nothing if you are showing a gallery that is totally different then a portfolio grid that shows portfolio posts.

August 28, 2014 at 9:27 am #16133Hey,
This isn’t currently an option for the staff posts. But I can consider it for an update. You can add this by editing the page-staff-grid.php line 74 replace:
<?php the_content(); ?>with
<?php the_excerpt(); ?> <a href="<?php the_permalink(); ?>">Read More</a>Ben

August 25, 2014 at 10:25 pm #15964Hey,
1. To change the post per page on the portfolio type page you have to edit the code, line 31 of taxonomy-portfolio-type.phpchange :
'posts_per_page' => '12',Or (I recomend) you can create your own pages for the category pages, use the portfolio page template and limit the portfolio posts to a specific category. then just link to those pages instead of your category page.
2. “I am not able to set the grid navigation to go where I want it to go”
Each portfolio post has an option to change the grid page to a specific page. It’s the “Choose Portfolio Parent Page” option.

In forum: Virtue ThemeIn reply to: Forcing a portfolio page to display all items
Hi Hannah –
I really appreciate your help, but my site is not set up the way that you describe. My portfolio page doesn’t use the portfolio grid template, because I have multiple levels of portfolio. So the schematic of my site would look something like this:
top level page (portfolio)
– second level (first level portfolio type)
– third level page (second level portfolio type)
– portfolio itemso, the code for my portfolio page is a list of snippets like this.
<h3>digital libraries</h3>
Classwork and projects related to my Digital Libraries specialization.[portfolio_posts orderby=date columns=4 items=8 height=200 lightbox=true showtypes=true cat=dig-lib]
Thus, for my first question, which is a page generated from a portfolio type [http://www.siobhainrivera.com/portfolio-type/z605/], there are no settings to change, because it is not listed as a ‘page’ in the admin – only as a portfolio type, and there’s no place (that I can find) to adjust display settings, in order to make the page show all of the items listed in that portfolio type, instead of just the 12 that seem to be default.
So, to make my first question more clear – where can I find settings/how can I change code that deals with the display of portfolio types?
Secondly, because of the situation above (multiple levels of portfolio types, that are not pages), I am not able to set the grid navigation to go where I want it to go; there are only options for directing it to a page, not to a portfolio type. I’d like to know how I can change this, either manually or through some sort of settings.
Thanks again for your help. Sorry that this is apparently more complicated than I realized.

Hey, sorry for being vague.
If you select Pages in the admin area then go in to edit your portfolio page under Portfolio Work Types you will see the option to set the items per page. Here you can select “All.”You can set the grid button navigation in each portfolio post. When you go in to edit each post you will see under Portfolio Post Options the option to select the portfolio parent page. That will set the grid navigation.
Hope this is more clear!

In forum: Virtue ThemeIn reply to: Creating links from pictures in Photo Gallery
Hi! So the biggest thing to understand is the difference between portfolio items and a portfolio page. To create portfolio items you go to portfolio > add new. Each portfolio item you create will display as a single portfolio post on your portfolio page. It is important that you set a featured image for each item as this it what will display on your portfolio page. To create a portfolio page go to pages > add new and name the page Portfolio. Then set the page template to portfolio grid and hit save draft (or publish). Once the template is set the page will automatically display the featured image from each portfolio item as a grid on the page and each item will automatically link to that portfolio post.
Hope this somewhat makes sense! I can definitely see your confusion.
Let me know if I can help you further!
HannahIn forum: Virtue ThemeI’m trying to use the blog grid template page and have 2 columns of posts. The blog looks the same as for the blog template page…what could be the problem?
Everything is up to date, I just installed the theme.

August 4, 2014 at 1:09 pm #14527Can you post a link? So I’m on clear.
The captions are set up to be in a box that is 1170px wide. So if you are on a large screen top left doesn’t take the captions out of the “grid” of the whole site. But with some css you can do about anything. Just need to see it to help with that.

August 2, 2014 at 12:54 pm #14407Ok it should be a page under your pages.. titled “Deelnemers”
You changed the title right? That page has an option to change the permalink.See all the portfolio posts show the new permalink: http://happyrotterdam.com/Deelnemers/ahmed-aboutaleb/
You just have to change the portfolio grid page.

I’ve been using the free version for a while and just upgraded to premium. Even though I followed the instructions on importing customizations, because I did not use child themes, I lost a lot of other customization – my own fault, I know. So I’m rebuilding the site options now.
Problem is, my home page at Pixiespocket.com is set up to show latest posts, but it is not showing the blog posts. When I hover over where the blog post grid should be, there is data there. A Pinterest button shows up where the images should be, and the links are clickable and take me to the posts – it is all there, but invisible.
I’ve tried going to Theme Options and messing around with what shows. The “Page Content” shows up, the sidebars are there, menu, header….everything but “latest posts”
Here’s another thing that might be related or might not. I tried to set the Home Page with a “Latest Posts” slider. When I viewed the home page after hitting “save,” the header flashes up for a second and then disappears. I don’t have adblock or anything like that on, either.
What have I done? 🙂
AmberIn forum: Virtue ThemeIn reply to: randomise home page portfolio Carousel?
July 31, 2014 at 9:15 am #14222No it’s not possible. And your not going to find a widget that does what the post grid does for a custom post type. Your best option is to copy the post grid and make your own widget in a child theme.

In forum: Virtue ThemeIn forum: Virtue ThemeTopic: Blog grid equal size
Hi Ben & Hannah,
I have a three column blog grid showing portrait featured image and excerpt. The box size varies among the posts. It depends on the size of the feautured image (in my case they are all the same size) and how many words the title consists of. The latter is my problem as I have titles of several lengths the boxes of the posts don’t line up neatly. Is there a simple way to give the box of a post a fixed height? I realise that I will have to compromise to find the right size but it would look much better. Even your demo blog grid looks cluttered, if I may say so. Hope you can help me Ben or Hannah.Thx and cheers Charles

July 28, 2014 at 7:43 am #13892Hey Craig,
When I developed I added all the code to make the single portfolio posts hidden but not the grid. It wouldn’t take much to add support for the grid page but another option would be to use the portfolio shortcodes to create your portfolio grid. Anything added through the page content box is automatically hidden:

What format are you trying to display? Can you post a link? If you set your page template to “portfolio grid” in your gallery page then save the page a list of options will appear allowing you to change the column number, items per page, etc. Not sure if that’s what you’re after. Here’s a tutorial on the portfolio page: https://www.kadencewp.com/creating-a-portfolio-page-with-virtue/
