    Hi Kevin,
Thanks for reaching out! Yes, you should be able to create this without issue using the post grid/carousel block. https://www.kadencewp.com/kadence-blocks/pro/post-grid-carousel-block/
    Would this work for you?

    Kindly,
    Hannah

Trying to figure out the best way to display books (I’m a budding publisher) and allow sorting, without using an extra plugin like Toolset.I see the portfolio grid block here:

How is that created? Are the posts custom post types, and then the sorting is based on the tags used? Or is it all posts, and the sorting is based on post categories? Or can it be either way?

    Hi Mary,
Apologies for the delay! With the Kadence Testimonials Block you would need to manually add your testimonials to the block. If you want your testimonials from your theme to be pulled into a block you can use the Post Grid/Carousel block.
    Hope that’s helpful!

    Best,
    Hannah

    Hi,
I am trying to build a blogs archive page using the posts block from Kadence blocks.
My target is a grid view of all posts (paginated or infinite), each tile having the same size and a defined background color.

    Is this possible?

    Best regards,
    Kevin

    Hey Norbert,

This request is a little trickier than it sounds but making this possible is in the works.

First, let me cover that you can manually select the latest post using dynamic content to set a fullwidth background on a row and to add a title with a link. Note that Gutenberg “inline” link option is not extendable. (annoying) so using the Advanced Heading block you can wrap the block in a dynamic link using the link wrap settings. That would allow you to link the title to the post.

So that is the manual workaround, main drawback is that you have to manually select posts each time you write a new one.

One other option is the portfolio grid block which does allow you to have the featured image behind the text. It’s still going to be limiting in some ways but would also get you close. see: https://www.kadencewp.com/kadence-blocks/portfolio-grid-carousel-block/

Looking ahead, two things are coming which will make this much easier.

First the Query loop block (new in 5.8) is going to make it possible to create custom queries of all kinds where you will have control of the dynamic content within using “current post” because eventually, the dynamic content will be able to be aware enough to know if it’s inside a query loop and pull that current post associated with the loop and not the current post where the block is actually added (which is what will happen right now).

That would make it possible to do what you want, it also has offset options so you can make custom latest posts queries.

Second, for the Kadence Theme Pro addon, I’m developing some template override options that will allow you to build a custom loop template and then assign that to a post block.

I hope all the makes sense.

    Ben

    Hi luisbassols.com,
You can do this from the Excerpt tab in the Post Grid/Carosel block settings. Turn on the Enable Custom Excerpt Length toggle and choose the word count.
Hope that helps! In the future please start a new thread:)

Playing with the Post Grid Carousel today. I am using this for Pages (as opposed to Post) and have a couple of questions.

Is it possible to have an excerpt that is not pulled from the actual body of the Page?

When the excerpt is pulled from the first few lines of text on the page it will default to a preset length or pulls a custom length (use the Enable Custom Excerpt Length toggle). When the excerpt is displayed with the default length, how is that determined? For example, I have some pages with multiple paragraphs and other times where only a few lines are needed. Is there a way to set the “breakpoint” for the excerpt?

I guess what I am really looking for is a way to set a custom Excerpt for each page and not have it pulled from the body of the Page itself.

    Thoughts?

    Hi chito,
Thanks for your reply. I mean the homepage of my site. I set this to “grid view”, see https://www.basenmandy.nl
In the grid, you can see the feature image and excerpt of all posts. Now the titles of these posts (in the grid view) are h2, and I’de like to change that to h1.

    Thanks,
    Bas

I have the same question for the grid start page for the kadence theme. So only the post titles on the grid I’de like to change from H2 to H1. Is this also possible?

    Kind regards,
    Bas

    Thanks, Kevin,

I’ve made a request, but I’d still like to ask, is there any other creative way to do this with Kadence? I find it hard to believe that this, which is quite basic (and nothing new in terms of design, in my opinion) can’t be achieved with Kadence.

Maybe… Is there a way to “overlay” two post grids? For example, one only displays the featured image (cover) and the other only the metadata? I guess a play with margins/paddings and stuff will be required? I don’t think this might be a great solution, in terms of back-end code cleanliness, but just brainstorming options here.

Just to share some feedback… I’m doing the best possible to not have to rely on other plugins like Elementor (which I previously used to do this). Kadence so far has delivered on most things I used to do/have with Elementor, so a huge kudos on that! But it’s these minor limiting details that become a pain when transitioning a site from Elementor to Kadence.

For me, Kadence will be perfect when you don’t have to compromise on design to achieve a high-performing site. It’s almost there.

    Thanks!

Thank you, but as far as I know, the post grid block isn’t flexible enough with its design parameters to allow me to put the text over the full-width image. That’s what I meant when I said “latest posts block” instead of “post grid.” (I just used the wrong name)

Or am I missing something in the settings that allows me to place the title, excerpt, and button over the image?

If so, what do I need to do if I want to replicate exactly the image in my previous message?

Should that not be an option… One thing I can think of, though, is to have a post grid placed on the homepage with no background/transparent background and have a full-width row layout dynamic content background that will change automatically as new posts are published. How can I dynamically link the featured image of the latest post from the homepage?

    Thanks!

Hi Norbert, thanks for reaching out. Hope you had a great weekend!

You should be able to accomplish this with the Post Grid/Carousel Block. Just set it to only display 1 post ordered from newest to oldest. This will default to only show the latest post. You’ll need to play with the design settings to get it to look the way you want, but take a look at this quick video to see how I set this up:
    https://www.loom.com/share/f3ca0f40b8d146889713b37380bc09c3

Does this option work for you?

Please don’t hesitate to let us know if you have any additional questions.

    Best,
    Kevin

    Hello Christine,

    Thank you for reaching out.

    1. It only shows maximum 6 rows

I would like to point out that the block you’re using is from the WooCommerce Blocks plugin. This is something we cannot control.

What I would suggest is to use the Kadence Blocks plugin’s Post Grid/Carousel block so you can show all the products with the tag “Sold” with pagination. However, this block does not have the option to show the price.

    2. I have to add the tag Sold in order to have it listed.

Since you’re using the Products by Tag block, it will need you to add the “sold” tag to the products so they’ll show.

Just a thought, you can show the default tag archive page to show all your “sold” products. I’ll send the link in a private reply.

Hope this helps and let us know if we can assist you further.

    Best Regards,
    Karla

    Hey,
In the Post Grid/Carousel settings under the Title Settings tab you should see a toggle for “Show Category”. Is this not the case for you?

    Hello,

I was wondering if there was a way to show the category meta for a custom post type using the Post Grid/Carousel block? I have a post type called “Projects” that I created, and under the title I wanted it to show what category each project is under, but there isn’t an option for it, only the author, date, and the date it was last edited on.

If anyone has a solution for this I’d love to know, thanks in advance!

    Hi there,

At the moment each post displayed in the post grid block have 2 links: Image and Title. It would be awesome if it could be possible to wrap the link around the whole post. To meet these requirement:

“[WCAG21 2.4.4 (A)] Identical adjacent links that use different link text may be confusing. If you have adjacent links to the same place with different link text it can be confusing to the user. You should consider combining these into one link and removing any redundant link text. See Understanding 2.4.4.”

    Big thank you in advance,
    Tobias

    Hi all,

I’m not sure if this question has already been asked and answered before, but here I go: Is there a way to have the title below the meta data? See image below:

Also, is there a way I can remove “Posted On” and “Posted In” before the date and category?

    Thanks a bunch!

    Hello,

    Apologies for the delay!

Currently, the Similar Posts section below the single post content will always be shown as a carousel. You may want to log a feature request to have an option to show a grid or carousel for the similar posts section.

However, please note that we’ll not be able to give an ETA of when the request will be added/available in the Kadence theme options.

    Kind Regards,
    Karla

    Hello,

    Thank you for reaching out.

Kindly try to remove the excess [] from your code. It should be like this:
    [display-posts category="commonly-asked-questions" include_excerpt="true" image_size="thumbnail" wrapper="div" wrapper_class="display-posts-listing grid" meta_key="_thumbnail_id"]

Hope this helps and please do let us know if we can assist you further.

    Best Regards,

    [[display-posts category=”commonly-asked-questions” include_excerpt=”true” image_size=”thumbnail” wrapper=”div” wrapper_class=”display-posts-listing grid” meta_key=”_thumbnail_id”]]

which generates 4 posts on a page, 2 columns, with featured image

I have this on one website which works beatuifully, but on another site, same theme version, same setup in theme options, same post with same options, and it will just not work, what am i doing wrong

here is the site that works

scroll to the bottom “Whiteboard Solutions – Questions & Answers” sections

and here is a test page i am trying the same code on

    any help greatly appreaciated
