    Hello,

I’m using the short code for displaying a blog post grid on my front page. I have added a box shadow on the grid items with css. If you look at the link (I’ll post it in the comment above), you’ll see there’s a white gap between the image and the grid item box, that becomes visible due to the box shadow effect.

I can’t for the life of me figure out how to remove this white gap/border, so that the image fills the edges of the grid items.

Do you see any way to solve this?

    Thanks,

    Anita

    Hi Team,

On this site I have a carousel of club badges which link to the relevant club page.
    The carousel is setup using [carousel type=post orderby=date columns=5 items=-1 speed=4000 scroll=1 cat=club] as a “Sitewide after Header Shortcode”.

The carousel works fine and looks great but I noticed that there is a brief moment on each page-refresh when all the carousel items are shown in a grid, before the display resets correctly in the header.

I guess it is similar to the problem experienced in “Topic: Carousel widget pre-load larger images showing” but the fix will need to be different.

    Please could you help?
    Thanks,
    Phil.

    Hey,
For more control, if you want to style how the blog is going to show then I suggest using Kadence Blocks and adding the post grid block. Within it, there are all the settings to change the styling.

Otherwise, it’s not possible to change what you want unless you want to edit the code.

    I hope that helps,

    Ben

Unfortunately, with the WordPress update released this morning, now no custom excerpts are displaying as paragraphs when using the Post Grid/Carousel Block. Before the update, if there was one post in the paginated page with no custom excerpt, all of the posts that had one was displaying paragraphs. Now none are. On my public live website using the Genesis Framework post grid they display fine, but not in my sandbox site with your Gutenberg Post Grid/Carousel Block. Whatever the issue is, it’s worse now with this mornings WordPress update. It’s not a show stopper. It’s just aesthetics. Just an irritant as I want them to display as they should display.

    Hi,

is it possible to extend the selection of initial styles in “Post Grid/Carousel”-Block with custom ones? maybe via a filter or an action?

    Thanks

Another option to add it to the page content would be to use the Kadence Blocks Pro plugin and add via a post grid/carousel block:
    https://www.kadenceblocks.com/docs/configure-a-blog-list-with-post-grid-carousel-block/

You can also use shortcode pasted into a text editor:
    http://docs.kadencethemes.com/virtue-premium/shortcodes/

As for them not showing on your page currently, did you clear your cache after making the changes in your theme options?

    Hello,

You can achieve this by adding the posts to your home page content or home widget area. Firstly, go to Theme Options> Home Layout, and make sure either the page content or the widget area are active, depending on which you want to use.

Then, you can add the posts via a text widget or into the text editor within your home page content with shortcode like this:
    [blog_grid orderby=date items=4 columns=2]

You can find the full shortcode options here:
    http://docs.kadencethemes.com/virtue-premium/shortcodes/

Another option would be to use the post grid/carousel block in Kadence Blocks to add the posts to your page content:
    https://www.kadenceblocks.com/docs/configure-a-blog-list-with-post-grid-carousel-block/

That tutorial shows how to build a blog list, but you can set it up the way you’re wanting in the settings.

Let me know if this is helpful for you!

    Hi,

I would like to format the home page blog post grid differently than the default theme settings. I would like a blog post grid item where the featured image comes first and the heading, text and date comes underneath (a vertical instead of a horisontal format). Is this possible at all to achieve?

    Regards,
    Anita

Thank you! I appreciate the help.

One last thing I discovered. I have 8 posts displaying in the grid per paginated page. If any of those eight have no custom excerpt, the paragraphs display fine. But if all eight do have custom excerpts, I lose the paragraphs. You’ll see that the posts are paginated. If you scroll through the paginated pages, you’ll see some pages where the paragraphs are displaying. That’s because one of the posts in that paginated page doesn’t have a custom excerpt. For example, on page 3 I removed the custom excerpt for the “More high-school students starting college” post, and all of the custom excerpts are displaying with paragraphs.

I also discovered that if I manually add <p></p> html tags to the excerpt, they’ll display as paragraphs. But I shouldn’t have to do that … right?

    Hello Support team!

I use blog style ‘Grid’ on some pages. I’d like to display only the title of the posts on these pages.

I know that Blog sytle ‘Photo’ would do this, but my customer doesn’t like the style as she wants the title not to be displayed on the image, but below it.

If there is a css code for limit characters to be displayed, I’d like to limit this only for specific blog categories…

    Is this possible?

    Thanks, Anita

Aha! I discovered the exact case where it’s stripping paragraphs on the front end.

On this page I have the post/grid carousel block and am specifying to use only the “Blog” category (one category). Custom excerpt paragraphs are stripped on the front end. https://wwwsbox.kirtland.edu/blog/

On this page I have the post/grid carousel block and am NOT specifying a category. The custom excerpt paragraphs ARE displaying on the front end. https://wwwsbox.kirtland.edu/kirtland-blog-2/

So in my testing, it’s stripping paragraphs only if I specify a specific ONE category. If I don’t specify a category, but specify a tag, it displays fine. It’s only when specifying a specific ONE category. If I specify two categories, it displays fine.

If you go here first, you’ll be able to get past the coming soon plugin:
    https://wwwsbox.kirtland.edu/peek

Then the page that I have the post grid/carousel block on is here:
    https://wwwsbox.kirtland.edu/blog/

Here’s a screen shot of what it looks when I’m editing the page. The paragraphs are there, but not showing on the front end.

I’m developing a website with Kadence Blocks (plus the Pro version) and using the Post Grid/Carousel Block on one of my pages. When I add the Post Grid/Carousel Block, if I have a custom excerpt for a post that is two paragraphs, the posts excerpts display as two paragraphs inside the Gutenberg editor. But when I view the page on the front end, they don’t appear as two paragraphs. The two paragraphs run together like an auto generated excerpt. I have the site running on Genesis Framework. If I create a page and use the theme blog template, the excerpts appear as paragraphs in the post grid. But they don’t if I create a page and use the Post Grid/Carousel Block. Is this expected behavior? Or am I missing something like a setting?

    #224538

    Hey,
    Thanks for posting,

The link is not designed to show in the grid. You can use a child theme, edit the testimonial-loop template and put that in but it’s not a built-in option.

I have set up a testimonials page (using Template Testimonials Grid and also tried the Testimonial Post Shortcode). I included full website addresses ( in the link data field for many. The links do not display on the grid-views, but the links show up on the individual testimonial pages. Thoughts on how to get that link to show on the page? I have tried both the page template “Testimonial Grid” and the Testimonial Post Shortcode. I’d like to stick with the shortcode version – here’s the code I am using, below:

    [testimonial_posts columns=3 content=full link=true items=”100″]

If there isn’t a way to display, I can go back into each entry and add a hyperlink within the text. If you want to see what I’m working on, you can go to this temp development page:

@Ben I have not tried that route yet. The only plugin that is new is Post Grid…

    Hey,
Need to clarify some things. A blog archive is not a page. Archives are categories or tags for example and they don’t represent a page in the admin. They are linked to internally and created through an archive template. If you are wanting to edit those archives and change the way posts are queried then you need to use a child theme.

If you are creating a custom page and you just want to add some blog posts to it then you can use a shortcode regardless of what editor you are using, for example:

    [kad_blog items="10" orderby="date" order="ASC"]

If you are using the WordPress block editor (Gutenberg) then you can use Kadence Blocks and Kadence Blocks Pro (comes with theme) and add a post grid/carousel block that would allow you to add this more visually and set the order.

If you are using Siteorigin you can use their loop widget but beware it’s pretty easy to mess up the settings and create an endless loop. I would suggest using the shortcode over it.

    Ben

Ah ok, I thought you were using the block editor due to referring to it as a block. In page builder there isn’t a widget that is as functional as the post grid block in Kadence Blocks.

I’ll send this over to Ben to see what the best method for adding a reverse order blog.

    #223898

Are you referring to the post grid/carousel block? It isn’t limited to just showing the page titles. It’s actually super flexible and can achieve the same look as your blog archive. If you can link to your blog archive, I can give you more specific directions on how to get it looking the way you want.

    Hi,

Need to resize the images used in the Latest Posts grid on Homepage. I did see other suggestions on this in forum, but none that worked for me.

    Thank you,
    Pam
