In forum: Virtue ThemeHello,
Great theme! Is there a way to set the number of default portfolio columns on the homepage? I’m hoping to have 2 equal rows of 3 columns on my site. Can the boxes change size dynamically to accommodate this?
My site is *Login to see link
Thanks!

Hi Hannah,
When I look at the page http://tynes.ca/en/our-products/, I just see a post grid.
What I should be seeing is 3 columns with headers and sub headers and posts within each column.
Thanks,

June 17, 2015 at 12:24 pm #45700Hey,
1. Instead of using the portfolio category grid template use the fullwidth template and add this shortcode:[portfolio_types columns="2" items="10"]That will make it so your child categories of type 2 are not shown.
2. You can’t turn the filter on for type category pages. So It doesn’t work for you to do what your thinking. The one option you can do is use a gallery and link to different pages (you just need to install this plugin: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-gallery-custom-links/
Then you can make pages for each type that are built with the portfolio grid page template and you can select to only show items in the category.3. If you don’t give your items a price then they will not have an add to cart button so you can use products if you like.
Hope that helps explain.
Ben

Hi Hannah,
Thanks for quick feedback. I know it’s a bit confusing what I explained earlier. Let me explain in other way. I have 4 main types
1
2
3
4In the type 2 i have another 4 subtypes
1
2
– 5
– 6
– 7
– 8
3
4For types 1,2,3,4 i have an image assigned
For subtypes 5,6,7,8 i don’t have an image assignedWhen i open my main product page (as a portfolio type grid) i want to see only types 1,2,3,4 like here
http://www.mcarservice.ro/portfolio/
Right now on this page are displayed all the types and subtypes, but are visible only types with a image assigned. Because of this the pictures are not aligned right, because of subtypes without image assignedWhen i click on type 1 i want to open another page with all the portfolio assigned to type 1, like i managed to obtain here.
http://www.mcarservice.ro/unelte-3/When i click on type 2 (who has subtypes) i want to open another page with all the portfolio assigned to subtypes 5,6,7,8 and to be able to filter, like i managed to obtain here.
http://www.mcarservice.ro/suruburi/Type 3 and 4 is the same as type 1
I can’t managed to link together all the pages. When i click from here http://www.mcarservice.ro/portfolio/ to the picture with bolts (type 2 from the example) it opens all the portfolio but without filtering option.
It would be ok for me to display the main portfolio page, on a page with images from gallery, arranged in 2 columns, with link to my portfolio types. If i use a gallery template i don’t have the option to put a link to another page on the image. There must be a way to do that.
Also if i can hide the price and “add to cart” button from shop product list would be ok for me to add the products and categories to the shop and to organize them from there.
In the end i want to obtain the functionality from this section of the site.
http://www.metricstore.ro/produse.htmlOn the page you mentioned are all the portfolio items, but mixed from all the types and subtypes. I don’t want that. I want to show only the 4 main types and from there to enter in each type to see more.
I hope i explain more clear now.
Thanks
In forum: Pinnacle ThemeTopic: Blog Post Shortcode issue
Hello,
I’ve run into an issue with my Pinnacle Install.
I have created a page called out products, found here:
It does not look how it is supposed to because it is built using the Columns and Blog Post shortcodes.
It should look like this
[columns] [span4]
Cooking Paddles
Right- or left-handed models
[blog_posts items=”30″ orderby=”rand” cat=”cooking-paddles”][/span4][span4]
Serving Paddles
Ambidextrous
[blog_posts items=”30″ orderby=”rand” cat=”serving-paddles”][/span4][span4]
Stands & Boards
Subject to availability of wood
[blog_posts items=”30″ orderby=”rand” cat=”stands-and-boards”][/span4][/columns]
Thank you,

June 16, 2015 at 12:40 pm #45590Hello,
Sorry I am not making sense – let me start again.
The text has a background that is kind of opaque – is there a way to make it less transparent and more ‘white’ so it’s a darker white rather than a see-through white with the text on top – and the image showing as it is now (top 4 boxes in 2 columns). So I am just talking about the background behind the text and not the background for the whole image.I tried adding a visual editor as you suggested – great stuff – but I do like the hover and change colour over the top of the image – which I don’t know how to do with just vis editor – then I tried to add the image menu item within the page content – but then I realised I have gone back to square 1!
is there a way to add the hover over the images like in the image menu? or to keep image menu items and add or move the text boxes slightly?
many thanks

In forum: Virtue ThemeHi there
I have my portfolio grid setup on my main page. I want to change it from 4 columns to 5 but it doesn’t respond to the changed setting. It seems to be stuck on 4 columns. Also, there are several new portfolio posts which I cannot get onto the grid. How can I fix this? My site is lesleydumbrell.com
thanks for your help.
JIn forum: Virtue ThemeHi, I’m trying to create a list in three columns underneath a slider on a full screen page in the Virtue theme. There’s a header, and a slider, then I’d like to have 3 columns with links in them. I tried the “page builder” and added rows with three equal divisions, and added widgets to each trying to achieve this effect, but after two rows it gets wonky.
This is the page:

June 12, 2015 at 6:45 pm #45196Hey,
Just saw that I read this wrong. you were asking about products. You can use the woocommerce shortcodes to add products to your home page in your page content.http://docs.woothemes.com/document/woocommerce-shortcodes/
for example:
[recent_products per_page="12" columns="4"]Ben
In forum: Pinnacle ThemeJune 12, 2015 at 6:16 pm #45189Hey Douglas,
Unfortunately there is no way in wordpress to mix post types in wordpress archive pages. Just because they have the same term doesn’t create a relationship. They are still different posts and considered to be separate. and there is no built in option (or plugin that I am aware of) that changes this.
The only way this could happen is through coding out a custom template that specifically overrides how wordpress functions. This is a bit beyond support as it’s pretty in-depth hacking and would require some major file changes to a lot of files.
But one thing you can do without editing code is create a page call it whatever you like and use the theme shortcodes to pull in all the blog posts of a category and then pull in all the portfolio posts. This will mean the posts will still show separately but would be a way to get both posts and portfolio posts on the same page.
Like this:
[blog_posts columns="3" items="-1" cat="photos"] [portfolio_posts columns="3" items="-1" cat="photos"]I don’t believe this is what you want but I’m trying to give you an example of what is possible.
Going further with your requests the “search” options can be extended a little bit with a plugin like this or the one you have: https://wordpress.org/plugins/relevanssi/
and you can have all different types of content showing up in search results. In that way you can link to those search results pages but note that they will all be styled one way and not different based on post type.
Tag cloud widget is still only every going to show post because of how the widget outputs the post tag page.

In forum: Virtue ThemeIn reply to: Secondary Drop Down Menu
June 12, 2015 at 5:49 pm #45183When you add a fullwidth dropdown the first sublevel of that dropdown is designed to be the “category” for the dropdown and therefore all caps where as the sublevel below that is normal. See example here on the pinnacle theme. over over “features”
http://themes.kadencethemes.com/pinnacle-premium/
You can use this css to remove that type of columns styling:
.sf-menu>.kt-lgmenu>ul>li>a { text-transform: none !important; }Ben
