    I appreciate you trying to help me Ben and i am very willing to follow your advice in dealing with the real issue. I’m sorry if i left another impression, that was not on purpose. Please understand that dealing with a technical issue like this is challenging for me since i’m not an IT guy and english is not my native language.

    But back to topic, i checked the error logs again and it is showing up now:
    error log

    I understand that i have to get back in touch with my provider again and send them this error log. I will also include your feedback.

    Thanks & best regards,
    Marco

    We are building a dual language WordPress website using the Virtue Premium theme and are presenting staff images and profiles using the Staff Grid page template with the filter activated for “All Staff Groups” or any of three Staff Groups that we have set up. It works perfectly for the base English language setting.

    We have used Q Translate to translate all of the site content to Mandarin [zh:] and this works perfectly except for the Staff Grid filters. When the Mandarin selection is made for the website, the staff images and profiles display “All” and the filter buttons appear to be inactive.

    In the Staff Group settings, we have the Staff Group names set in English for the English version, and in Mandarin for the Chinese language version, but have left the slugs in English for both language settings. We have tried Chinese slugs but these didn’t work either.

    Any advice to assist us to resolve the problem would be appreciated.

    1. Theme options > language settings.

    2. You would need Kadence woo extras plugin which is part of membership. Since it looks like you only have purchased a theme you would have to use a third party plugin or a child theme.
    This should do what you want:
    https://wordpress.org/plugins/woocommerce-customizer/

    If you go to Theme Options> Language Settings, you can change the search widget placeholder text to “Not Sure.”

    Would that work for you?

    Ben, you are a wonder! Thanks for sticking with me.

    Um, I changed Product Description to Description and, lo! the change was made. What a rookie error that was, huh? I think it must have changed labels in Woocommerce at some point…?

    However, I should be using your better way. Where would I place that code in your last note? In the functions.php file or the “built-in filter that woocommerce has?” Where is that, for future reference?

    And, doh…I see that theme options>language settings would have handled that description problem. Not the other thing, though, so it’s worth my going through this learning curve.

    Regards,

    Valerie

    Thank you very much Ben Ritner!

    It helped, the topic can be closed!
    2. If you’re overriding the tab title through theme options > language settings that is where there is no count.

    Thanks for the help!

    2. If you’re overriding the tab title through theme options > language settings that is where there is no count.

    If you want the count you can’t override the title.

    You can still translate the tab into Russian you just have to translate through woocommerce po file or a plugin like: https://wordpress.org/plugins/loco-translate/

    #155900

    Where it says Description, it should say: Tasting Notes. But it doesn’t!

    You don’t have a function that would change “description”

    You are only changing “Product Description” which is, of course, different from “description”

    By the way, the theme options includes a place to change this text if you look in the theme options > language settings. So you don’t need to use a function for it anyway.

    As for the thank you, since your related products is working fine I don’t see any reason your thank you isn’t. Can you check it?

    But again a better way to do this is actually through the built in filter woocommerce has:

    add_filter( 'woocommerce_thankyou_order_received_text', 'custom_thankyou_text', 20);
    function custom_thankyou_text($text) {
    $text = 'Thank you. We have received your order and will be in touch shortly to arrange delivery/pickup.';
    return $text;
    }

    I saw the recommendations for creating another sidebar for the translation, but it doesn’t help.

    I don’t recommend that. Where did you see that?

    You should be using: https://wordpress.org/plugins/wpml-widgets/ and setting a widget per language not sidebar per language.

    #154720

    Hi Guido,
    You can change this from Theme Options > Language Settings.
    Hope that helps!

    Sorry, but i don’t want to show website, it’s “under construction”.

    I use woocommerce brands from woocommerce.

    I wanted to traduce brands in my own language(french) : marque.
    For that i used the code you saw in last message in functions.php.

    I’ve just tried to change
    /marque/%product_brand%/categorie/%product_cat%/ by
    /brand/%product_brand%/categorie/%product_cat%/
    and it works.

    It must be a problem with translation. I realize it’s not your job, but do you have any idea about that ?

    On last week I updated my site synergycosmetic.cz to latest version WP 5.8.1, Virtue Themes 4.2.6. Furthemore, my webhosting updated PHP on 5.6 from 5.3 version. Today I found out in WP Plugins Menu following error:

    If you just need two different logos then you can use a polylang string translation for that. Then have an logo for each language.

    But there isn’t an option for this if you need to change for every page. (that would be strange for a logo). You would have to code something like that in with a child theme.
    One built in option would be to not use the logo and instead use a header image that you set using the feature page template.

    Hello Alexej,

    I’m seeing both languages load the portfolio. Try clearing your cache and viewing the site again and let me know if that makes a difference.

    If that doesn’t work, try resaving your permalinks in Settings> Permalinks.

    I use Virtue Theme more then 3 years with WPML Multilingual CMS and WPML string translation for. Today I upgraded WPML Multilingual CMS to version 3.7.1 and WPML string translation to version 2.5.4. After upgade, all pages on my site work, except Portfolio pages in both languages CZ and RU. All Portfolio links end with 404 error. In Portfolio edit menu doesn’t show Preview changes too. I tried to create a new portfolio in both languages (CZ,RU), but it not works too. Website show 404 error.
    Now Main page, Slides,Pages, Pages with Portfolio Grid on my site work properly, I have only problem with Portfolio in both languages.
    I have this configuration on my host:

    Wordpress 4.6
    Virtue Theme 4.2.4
    WPML Multilingual CMS 3.7.1
    WPML string translation 2.5.4.

    Could you help me or advise. If you need, I can create admin account on my side for you. Please, let me know

    Alexej.

    Hey,
    I would strongly advise against using the string translations with widgets. It’s never been great at that. Use https://wordpress.org/plugins/wpml-widgets/ and just add one widget for each language.

    Hi Ari,
    1. I’m not sure that I’m seeing that. Could you send a screenshot? https://postimages.org/

    2. Remove this from your custom css:

    .portfolio_item .portfoliolink {
        position: static;
        ms-filter: \"alpha(Opacity=100)\";
        filter: alpha(opacity=100);
        -moz-opacity: 1;
        -khtml-opacity: 1;
        opacity: 1;
    }

    And add this instead:

    .portfolio_item .portfoliolink {
        opacity: 1;
    }

    3. Try adding this to your custom css box in Theme Options > Advanced Settings:

    #filters li a.selected h5, #filters li a:hover h5 {
        font-weight: bold;
    }

    4. You can set that from Theme Options > Language Settings.
