Topic: Menu disappears on iPad
The navigation menu on our site at News media Guild is behaving badly on iPads. The menu doesn’t show up at all at first, but does show up after you click to go to an article. It also shows up and disappears when turning the iPad different directions.
I think it might be getting covered up by the revolution slider at the top of the page. Any ideas about what I can do to make it appear?

Menu when it shows up after clicking or turning iPadThanks!

Hi Hannah,
This kind of fixes it but the menu still moves around and doesn’t look as clean on the iPad. I have researched a little and can now see why I am confused as I believe the menus are treated differently between the free and premium versions of virtue.
I can demonstrate this best with your own free demo site.
The primary menu performance I am seeking is exactly like the primary menu performance in the virtue demo (free version home style 1) This renders perfectly on mac, pc, iPad (landscape and portrait)
Is there a way to replicate that exact performance in the premium version?

Thanks, Hannah. Good catch… did I do it right now? For some reason on an iPad the top bar is still on two lines but there’s space for everything to fit on one line.
My website: roadandtrailfitness.com
My code:
@media (min-width: 768px){
#topbar {
position: fixed;
top: 0;
z-index: 1000;
background-color: rgba(255,255,255);
}
.admin-bar #topbar {
top:32px;
}
.headerclass {
margin-top:44px;
}
}
@media (max-width: 767px){
.kad-topbar-left .topbar_social ul li {
float: none;
display: inline-block;
text-align: center;
}
}.kad-topbar-left .topbar_social {
text-align: center;
}
@media (max-width: 800px){{
.kad-topbar-left, .kad-topbar-left .topbar_social, .kad-topbar-left .topbarmenu {
width: 100%;
}
}
.kad-topbar-left .topbarmenu ul {
float:none;
}
.kad-topbar-left .topbar_social ul li {
float: none;
display: inline-block;
text-align: center;
}
.kad-topbar-left .topbar_social {
text-align: center;

}In forum: Virtue ThemeWorking with Virtue theme in out-of-the-box mode. Can I change the position at which the menu switches to mobile mode. At the moment even on an iPad in wide mode the mobile menu kicks in straight away.
From what I can see the mobile menu comes into effect at 991px and then reduces again at 768px it there a setting (or group of settings) I can use to stay on the standard menu until 768px so that the primary menu renders normally until 768px and the drops into mobile mode.
essentially I want a full primary menu on iPad landscape and mobile on iPad portrait.
Also is the menu treated differently between free and premium versions? as I didn’t see to have this situation on the free theme.
example url [www.]leisuremap[.co.uk] which renders a mobile menu in landscape on an iPad when I really want the full primary menu to the right of the logo.

W3TC, though I have issues with odd/bad loads on mobile intermittently on Virtue sites NOT using any caching plugins, and I had these issues with the current development site even before I installed W3TC. (Overall, the W3TC increased performance significantly.) As for the mobile devices themselves, they are iPhone 5 and iPad Air devices, all standard configs – nothing special. In fact, the iPads were straight out of the box with default configs.
In forum: Virtue ThemeIn reply to: Gallery images breaking on mobile
I am seeing things like the following:
A picture (or two) in a gallery will only show the top 2/3 of the pic, and the bottom 1/3 will be black. And it’s not just galleries. For example, on this page:
http://kiosk.pabakery.com/decorated-cakes/
…some of the Image Menus (buttons) appear partially black, too. The weird thing is that it happened on 2 out of 3 iPads, yet all three were new out of the box – the loading issues just seem to be random (but once they happen, they don’t go away, even if I clear the browser cache). To me, it seems like a caching problem, but refreshing doesn’t help, and it’s completely inconsistent, but always on mobile.
I have the same issues in my office where some of my iPhone 5s show Virtue Theme-based mobile sites just fine, while the EXACT SAME DEVICE will have some loading issue…sometime no Rev Sliders will show, but again, it’s inconsistent and seems to happen on one device but not the other. Note though that I don’t generally have these loading issues – just on sites I’ve built with the Virtue Theme (sites on the same server build differently don’t seem to have the issue.)
It doesn’t happen on desktops ever (can’t reproduce it at all on Windows nor Mac) as far as I can tell. It’s always on mobile (iPhone/iPad) devices, and consistently has issues.
Sometimes, on certain sites I’ve built with Virtue, on certain devices, the Rev Slider won’t load at all – it’ll just have a blank space where the slider should be. Again, it will come and go, but when it happens, it keeps happening for a while until some random time in the future when the behavior will change with no know cause.
I hope this helps.

In forum: Virtue ThemeI am experiencing a lot of problems with gallery images randomly breaking on some mobile devices, but not others, and then for no reason with no changes, images will start breaking differently on a device and things that didn’t work before will start working again.
I just set up three fresh, clean iPad, and in accessing a particular website, two of the iPads were fine and the other had problems with certain images, and clearing caches and things didn’t it.
It just seems like on mobile things from the virtue been randomly beak – but this doesn’t happen on desktop. It’s not just this one website either, I seem to have intermittent mobile problems with most sites built on virtue theme. ( and I don’t experienced the same problem on other sites build not using this theme.)
Is there a known bug here, or some underlying problem that can be resolved?
I want to continue using mean, but when details really matter and everything must work, there just seems to be too many intermittent problem on mobile devices that I don’t. When using other themes.
Please help.
In forum: Virtue ThemeTopic: Search in Mobile
Loving this theme, well worth the money. I am experimenting heavily to figure out the right balance of responsive options and menu consistency.
Currently I am trying to ensure I give a consistent experience on mobile devices. on [www.]leisuremap[.co.uk] I can get a full width primary menu ok but have inconsistent placement of search as follows.
at 992px wide I have a full menu with search
between 768px wide and 991px wide I have mobile menu but no search
under 768px wide I have mobile menu with searchCan you advise which setting I need to ensure that I have search visible between 768px and 991px in mobile menu
is there a simple setting which will allow me to keep the primary menu visible for longer so that it remains visible on iPad?

Thanks again.In forum: Virtue ThemeIn reply to: Top Bar Follow Scrolling
Only issue I see is when on an iPad/this resolution:
Any way to center the items in the top bar and so it won’t overlap the company logo header?http://i.imgur.com/dhdz7Rk.png
Everything else seems to work great!
Thank you Ben

In forum: Pinnacle ThemeIn reply to: Revolution Slider 2 video loops
August 17, 2015 at 2:27 pm #53996Hey, if you put a loop on you can’t have it move on to another slide. Loop means it would stay and keep looping.
You can’t have auto play on mobile devices per how the mobile browsers are designed.
If you want to hide the slider on ipad you can with css like this.
@media only screen and (device-width: 768px) { .sliderclass { display:none; } }Ben
In forum: Pinnacle ThemeHi there,
I am having a hard time trying to loop 2 video back to back with revolution slider…
It seems like only one video plays no matter how I change the “layers timing & sorting”…Also, it doesn’t play on the ipad. The video section doesn’t load at all. I have disabled it for mobile but is there a way to disable it for ipad as well?
In forum: Virtue ThemeAugust 17, 2015 at 12:44 am #53804No. I meant I want to use the menu that I select to use as my mobile menu in the Appearance>Menus area to be used instead of the Primary Menu.I still want to have a Primary Menu that will show up on Desktops but on tablets like an iPad I wanted to have a mobile menu with less links that would be fully out in Landscape mode.
So basically I in Appearance>Menus I would have a menu that I create with for example 8 links and that would be for desktops and I would create another menu with for example 5 links. I would then want to display the mobile menu full width on an ipad or tablets overall not smart phones.In forum: Virtue ThemeAugust 16, 2015 at 9:40 am #53750Hello Ben. How can I substitute the Primary Menu for the Mobile Menu in the code below? I created a mobile menu with less links and I wanted it to show fully instead of mobile view in landscape mode on the iPad instead of showing the primary menu.
@media (min-width: 992px) {
#nav-main ul.sf-menu, .nav-main ul.sf-menu {
display: block;
}
#nav-second ul.sf-menu {
display: block;
}
#kad-mobile-nav {
display: none;
height: auto;
}
#mobile-nav-trigger {
display: none;
height: auto;
}
header #nav-main, header .nav-main {
margin: 4px 0;
}
}Thanks.

August 15, 2015 at 1:00 pm #53676Hello Ben. How can I substitute the Primary Menu for the Mobile Menu in the code above? I created a mobile menu with less links and I wanted it to show fully instead of mobile view in landscape mode on the iPad instead of showing the primary menu.
Thanks.
In forum: Virtue ThemeI am using the Kadence slider with the option to “move slider above header” and I have the primary menu as part of the header which is great – but on my ipad I only get the mobile menu which is the small black Menu with little lines. I don’t mind that on cell phones but on ipads, tablets and larger mobile devices I would like the primary menu and header to show up. Is there a way to achieve this please?
Here is a link to the home page *Login to see linkThanks
