I have the “Virtue: Post Grid” installed on my site: wsfb.com on the homepage in the footer. It is set to show 9 blogs in a specific category. It has been working fine for at least a year, and then all of a sudden one of my pictures is missing. Everything seems to be setup the same. Any ideas?

I want to create a blog/post layout that is similar to the “latest blog post” widget on the home page layout in the theme, but want to do it on a different page. I can’t even seem to get close.

i.e.: I want to display 2 rows with 3 posts per row, and the feature image and summary shown.

None of the widgets in the page builder accomplish this – they are are poorly designed post layouts.

    Am I missing something?

    Thanks

If you only want a certain category to show on your blog page, then that’s an option.

However, if you want all of your posts to show on the blog page by default, you can achieve this by simply assigning the “Blog” or “Blog Grid” template to your blog page. (under page attributes)

    Hopefully that’s helpful!

    Hi there-
The pagination doesn’t work on my blog page (the template is blog grid, and the page displays a specific blog category) at whether it is set to infinite load or not.
When I turn pagination on, the additional page links are broken (for example, pressing “2” leads to which is a broken link).

To get around this, I have just set the blog page to include all blog posts for now, but ideally I want it to load only 9 posts at once and infinite load.
Is there any way I can fix this? My best guess is that it’s a problem with the URL scheme.

    Thank you!

    Hi Boris,
I hope I’m following. So you want a mosaic grid of images on your homepage, correct? And you do not want them to link to individual blog posts? You should use a gallery. Are you using Kadence Membership? If so I would recommend using the Kadence Galleries plugin. https://www.kadencewp.com/kadence-galleries-plugin/ You could create your gallery then add the shortcode to a text widget within our home widget area. If you’re not a member you can still create a mosaic gallery using the visual editor. See here- https://www.kadencewp.com/creating-a-gallery/
You can use this plugin to link your images- https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-gallery-custom-links/
    Hope that’s helpful!

I have put together a gallery style blog post, trying to mimic the masonry style of the Ascend demo here:

But on my blog post page, itself, the masonry grid of photos is stretching and squeezing the proportions of my images:

The same gallery masonry grid looks fine when it shows up in my list of blog posts:

I have checked and re-checked that my gallery settings are the same as the demo content settings. I can’t see anything about my gallery settings that are different. But the demo site’s gallery doesn’t get messed up.

    Any thoughts?

But there is a shortcode to display certain portfolio items in grid like a normal gallery, isn’t there? Because we don’t want ALL portfolio items(in our case products) to be displayed anywhere, we have two manufacturers with 30 products each, and we don’t want them mixed, so i thought I would create a page for each manufacturer and include a shortcode with the specific portfolio items/products. But I guess then there is no real difference if I was to create a regular page and add a gallery and link each item/product to its own page…

When using Woocommerce, is there a difference in terms of speed between having 60 pages and 60 product posts?

in terms of speed there is no difference between pages and posts and portfolio posts. Portfolio would give you a grid layout option that pages won’t. If you are wanting to have pricing and other things you can use woocommerce for a catalog and not include the cart.

    Hi guys,

I’m using the latest version of Ascend and WordPress 4.7.3. When using the blog mosaic or photo shortcode i.e. [blog_posts type=”mosaic” orderby=”date” items=”6″], the initial view overlaps:

If you resize the screen or do Inspect element, the grid reloads and aligns correctly.
    – I tried deactivating all plugins (except Page builder by SiteOrigin)
    – I tried removing the map script from the header
    but no change.

–> seems to only happen in a stretched full width row. For now, I’ll use a fixed witdh row, but thought I’d flag it to you.

    thanks,
    Lukas

    Hey Nadine,

I suggest using the Portfolio Grid template. You can create a portfolio post for each member’s company, and within the portfolio page options, you can set it to display the image, title, and an excerpt about the company.

Find “Display Item Excerpt?” in your portfolio page options, and check that box. Then you’ll see an excerpt from each portfolio item. This excerpt can be anything you want.

Let me know if you need any further assistance with this.

    Topic: Grid of pages

    #132836

    Hi,

I would like to achieve something kind of similar of what the Portefolio and blog grid templates do. I want to have a summary for “member companies” where each member is displayed in a 3row grid with:
    [title of company]
[some text about company including external links to company]

I thought of using the Portefolio grid template, but this looks different (text over image). OTOH, the grid blog template displays blog items with this /blog/2017/02/whatever URL scheme, whereas I would like to have

The look of is not really wrong, but I guess instead of a grid of blog posts, I would rather need a grid of pages. And the “company member” pages could then reside under /companies/company-one, /companies/company-two and so on.

Any ideas on how to achieve this? (my site is private still, so I cannot share a link atm)

    1. Sure, make sure you have portfolio posts created, then in your theme options > home layout. Enabled the “portfolio full” module. Scroll down to the settings for it and you will see the setting for it where you can enabled mosaic style.

    2. That is the mosaic portfolio grid. It’s not really a matter of setting any rows or columns it’s all built for you through the loop.

    Hello!

Is there a way of changing the layout of a category page, for example in a list with an accompanying image, or a grid layout with image?

Here is my page, I’d like to add images if possible, or find a way to make the page more visually appealing. I’ve set a featured image for the post on this page.

Many thanks for ALL your help so far 😉

    Hi,

Is there a way to make the thumbnails in a portfolio post sit in a grid of evenly shaped squares? Mine currently seem to be echoing the original shape of the images. I’ve turned the masonry option off and set a height constraint in the Theme Options. Here is one of the pages

    Thanks!

    Hi,

I’m having a bit of a problem with the blog page on my site, I can’t get the featured images to show up in the grid or list. As far as I can see I’ve set each picture as the featured image on each post.

Here’s the page, , I look forward to hearing any solutions!

    Thank you ,

The visitor can then navigate through category A members using the arrows. When we try this, it appears to navigate through all members!

    Hey,
So the navigation is by type. So if they all share a type then they are all in the same category. A post does not lose a category because of how you navigate to it. There is no tracking inside wordpress that would change your posts settings. If you set the post to have multiple types then all the posts in all those types are in the same category.

An individual post page doesn’t and can’t rebuild itself and it’s links based on how a person navigated to it. Its impossible for that to be the current web.

So simply what you are expecting isn’t possible and isn’t realistic even with a bunch of custom coding.

it seems to be picking a category at random – generally the “members” top level one

Nothing random it’s picking from the types you set in the post. all of them.

OK so what to do from here. My suggestion is to remove the navigation. Let the user use back option in the browser to navigate back to the grid.

But if you really need navigation that works like your talking then you will need to create a post for each type. So every post only has one type and that means you have several of the same posts just with different types selected. I don’t recommend this.

Sorry I don’t have another suggestion for you but the only other thing would be a javascript added navigation that you would have to custom code. It would have to set cookies the whole way and it would break with caching and so hiring a developer to code something like that is not what I suggest.

    Hello Timothy,

No one else has reported this and I can’t get it to repeat on my test site, so that leads me to believe it’s likely something to do with a plugin. You were on a relatively old version of the them, so it’s possible that upon updating a plugin that you were using is conflicting with the theme.

One way to test this is by updating the theme, then going through your plugins one by one, deactivating and viewing your staff grid each time to see if any plugin being deactivated fixes the issue.

Can you also post a link please?

    Thanks,
    kevin

    Hi Jim,
In Theme Options > Blog Options try turning on Display Blog Grid posts at equal height. Does that work for you? If not, can you post a link?

    Hi Andrea,
In Theme Options > Blog Options try setting Display Blog Grid posts at equal height to On. Does that work for you?

    Hi Janet,
This theme does not require that you set a page to be your post page. In fact, it’s important that you leave that setting blank. You can create this page using the blog or blog grid template. See here- https://www.kadencewp.com/creating-a-blog-page/
    Hope that helps!
