Thanks very much, Ben, that did the trick. How would I remove the “title” from additional pages I create?

And one more thing: I am noticing when I make changes to the site, and click save, yet neither Chrome, Firefox or IE 8 register the changes, even after I click refresh. I’m trying to clear my browser cache each time but it sure is time consuming. I experienced this at home and also at work. I have never had this problem with other themes I’ve used, I don’t know that this is a theme issue, I’ve just never experienced it. Any suggestions?

    Thanks again

    So looking here: http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/#!/rLQI1/Shopjamrock.com

    1. I see that your server has a long wait time if you have a low end host there isn’t much that can be done about this, but with low end host the amount of plugins can effect this. I would look at your plugins and consider whats is necessary. If you do have a good host I would give them a call and have them give you some advice.

    2. I also see that you are loading a huge image: http://www.shopjamrock.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/03/Combat_de_Grand_Port_mg_9425.jpg
I would make sure all your slider images are proper size and saved for web. This one is much larger then you need for the slider.

    3. W3 Total Cache – You don’t have your browser caching set up as good as it could be with w3 total cache. I would also minify your javascript. although I will warn you jetpack doesn’t like this. If you find that plugin useful then you may not be able to.
I would search around for some tutorials on setting up w3 total cache.

To give you an idea, I optimized my caching with my server (talked to them) and I have a good server. This site runs the rev slider and woocommerce with virtue: http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/#!/deavyB/http://themes.kadencethemes.com/virtue-premium-3/

    Hope that helps,

    Ben

    Strange. Still not disappearing.
Did the F12 and clear cache.
Did the Internet option and clear files.
    Did the CTRL+F5 reload.

    Any other suggestions?

I just checked and it’s disappearing for me, have you tried clearing your cache?

    Ben

It should apply to all, clear your cache to make sure your seeing your site with the code applied.

As for the gallery page with slider, you have selected the featured page template, but you are not using it. You just added the slider to the content area (which is fine) but it means that the top has a spacer where the feature template adds a spot of the slider. So just change your template to “fullwidth”

Why not use w3 total cache and only enable browser caching which would allow you to control the header expiration?

It would be much easier then doing something manually. You can look at other plugins but your going to need to write this stuff in your htaccess file for the best results.

Is there a way to set the expiration of assets in a header etag without using a caching plugin? To be brief a plugin like w3tc would do more harm than good for me because it is performing the same tasks twice in many areas due to server programming (like minify html, css, etc) and will crash my site more than likely. I believe the related code is something like max-age-expires or something like that in the html or header.php. The only reason I ask is because the server programming cut my load time in a quarter and built a downstream cache in itself, I don’t think a plugin can duplicate that so I would like to try an alternative. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Who is your hosting company? and what do they mean by hacked? Seems crazy that they are not helping you prevent a hacking??? Or giving your steps to restore your site??
The wp-admin/includes/class-wp-filesystem files are part of the wordpress core. You don’t want to delete theme else your site is not going to work.

Total cache is not necessary but it certainly makes for a faster site. I use it and recommend using it.

I would start by talking again to your host and ask for some clarity? For there advice on moving forward? If your core files have been hacked then you may need to reinstall your site. As for hacking prevention I think ithemes security is a good plugin.

    Hey,
    1. I don’t see this? I see a shop page with a sidebar? Have you cleared your browser cache?

    2. Did you add a cyclone slider using the shop settings in the theme options?

Hello I have been getting some url errors on my site and contacted my hosting company who came back to me stating the following files that have been hacked.

    ./wp-content/plugins/w3-total-cache/inc/functions/file.php
    ./wp-admin/includes/class-wp-filesystem-ssh2.php
    ./wp-admin/includes/class-wp-filesystem-direct.php

I have deleted the w3 total cache plugin but the issue remains, I now cannot find the remaining 2 files, are these 2 files part of the plugin?

    ./wp-admin/includes/class-wp-filesystem-ssh2.php
    ./wp-admin/includes/class-wp-filesystem-direct.php

My question, is the w3 total cache plugin necessary for the site to work properly? was this plugin a part of the system for woohoo commerce or the virtue theme? I am not sure how to proceed on this and would appreciate your advice.

    Thanks

Hey Next time just refresh the forms page, if you are logged in it will clear the cache for you and show you the new post box.

Is your home page a static page in the wordpress settings > reading.

If so you can use the page content and in your theme options > home layout > layout manager, move the page content module to the top of the enabled list.

Of you can use the widget area module.

    Hey Martin,
Shouldn’t have to login more then usual, but I guess that could be a side effect. You defiantly would have to refresh the support page if you visited while logged out.

The issue is with caching, I move to a niginx server and it’s got some built in caching, I’ve been working to try and get the site to force clearing of the cache once the user logs in. Hoping to improve soon. Else for now if you recently logged in and you see a “please login” just refresh the page to clear the browser cache.

I am having trouble changing the font on mobile with the Virtue Premium theme. It may be a cache issue- but I am not sure how to change it using the Theme Options. Thanks!

    Hey Ben,
Still having problems sorting product. Per your questions above:
    1. When I click sort in the admin, yes the products are in the correct order (after I drag them to where I want).
    2. Yes, I have cleared cache.
    3. No, no extension plugins for woocommerce.
    4. This one was interesting. At first the product images were not the same height, and I could see those odd sized ones were part of the problem. So I adjusted all to the same size (600×600) which is how they are now. That helped, but some products still won’t go where I want (but show up correct in the admin). I also reduced the min. title height in shop settings (to 12).
Here’s an example of a problem page:
    http://www.outdoornj.com/product-category/women/women-shoes/
in the admin panel, the Kamik women’s Brooklyn product is after the Kamik Olivia, and the Keen Whisper sandal and Clearwater CNX sandal are next to ea. other.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks!

    Hi Ben,

Thanks for such a prompt response.

    http://www.shopjamrock.com

The images are all large that I have uploaded. Do you mean I should check the settings to see the image size that way?

I shall download w3 total cache. Many thanks!

    Hey April,
Seems that some times people are seeing the “you have to login” because of some page caching where you would post a new topic. The trick is to try refreshing the main forum page.

Whats the link again to your site?

    1. That can happen if you are using images that are too small. Check your product image sizes.
    2. The sale box should have it’s own background (the same color as the primary color for the site. is the primary color for your site white?)
You can add this to make the color whatever you want for the background:

    .woocommerce span.onsale, span.onsale {
    background:#444;
    }

    3. I need to see this to know better, are you using w3 total cache?

Thanks for the quick response. I tried to clear my W3 cache and it didn’t seem to work. Luckily, I found out that I had Jetpack Mobil Theme activated. Once I deactivated this feature, my mobile theme displayed as expected.

Hey Ben, so I cleared the browser cache, deleted the cookies and reset all the browser setting, the problem is still there and happens on another computer as well (it’s also not an issue with an anti-virus software). It appears to be ok in Firefox though.
Here are 2 images to show how it disappears as you scroll

    Thanks so much!
